I love that Sal has become Chips Zdarsky’s right hand man always supporting, criticizing & going over his stories saying “this story is good because its Zdarsky”. I think the issue the green lanterns are facing is that since he can't die if his enemies end up completely wiping him out, he will just manifest elsewhere in the universe and be free since being locked out or every afterlife he has become a constant in reality. Which they can't say cause then every villain would try to replicate it.

I think if I were a writer for the big two, the whole "they could change back any major development I made in my story" would make me prefer to do things in an elseworld rather than do the work of making it fit into continuity. and for me, I think I haven't been into the big two comics long enough to roll with that sense of impermanence, which is why I'm a fan of non-continuity AUs.
