What a gorgeous replica! B.J. and the Bear came out when I was a little kid, and my Dad was driving trucks. This paint scheme on a cabover is as close to my heart as the Dukes of Hazard's Charger paint scheme! I'm glad this truck is in the hands of someone who really loves it and takes care of it. Soon there won't be anyone left who remembers the T.V. show, and why cabovers were developed in the first place.
I finally asked Bob the history of his truck and then Miss Flatbed Red is videoing the truck and trailer. He was telling me the story and I wanted everyone to hear it. Bob and Jacob are great people to talk with all the time. I'm glad to have met them both and look forward to seeing them in the future!
What an awesome story and back ground!!!!!! So glad he was able to get this rig, but most of all get such an awesome kid that shares the love of trucking!!!!!!
Awesome interview. I saw Bob and Jacob two weeks earlier and told them they should stop by Ashland. I'm glad to have introduced you to them. Great story of the truck!
Great video and thank you so much for sharing their story. Hopefully one day when that truck is his he'll still be able to run a few loads in it. If anyone deserves to have been able to own that truck it's him and I'm glad he's using it to spend time with his son.
Awesome story and many memories to come with father and son moving freight ! I can tell by his truck prep skills that truck has many years of looking Awesome!!
sadly, they said the original tapes were lost in a fire at Movie studio. There is a DVD set sometimes on Ebay,. its nice, but its copied of aired show somewhere.
That's a great-looking truck, we went to bed last year one night at the Vintage truck reunion in Ashland Ohio and woke up the next morning and he was parked in front of us. It was definitely a surprise and turned into the red and white truck parking area real quick! :-)
I was lucky to see and get video of that truck at the 2011 Truckin' For Kids Show in Irwindale, California when it was still with Ownby Trucking. Looking back at it now, my video is very "non-HD" and unimpressive. I'm glad to see that you got really nice coverage of it, and you got a good interview to go along with it to tell the story. I'm happy the story of this truck will continue with a loving and caring owner.
that truck is the reason i became an over the road truck driver, tho i never got to drive a rig like that KW i got to drive some of the sweetest 379s and w900 rigs on the road
Louisville,ky my home town!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wish you luck young man on your future ......Truck Driver!!!!!!!! I drove from 82 to 2005
I love how his son says "There's no question about it. I'm gonna drive." That was me when I was a kid. I got my CDL at 19 and 25 years later I thank God everyday for allowing me to get up every morning and do what I love.
I’ve been a long time fan of the B.J. and the Bear tv show and the truck as well when I was a kid growing up. Bob, y’all done a excellent job on your truck looking pretty 🤩 and smooth all over on the truck and trailer. I’d seen your other videos about your truck and was impressed with them. Hopefully I’ll be able to meet y’all somewhere up the road someday. God bless you and your family. Take care.
Beautiful rig! Beautiful Bj McKay tribute ride wow! A lot of money in that truck. Love the square exhaust pipes. And the fact he’s Christian! Awesome story. Thanks for sharing😎
Awesome story , been around some of those pa. Boys while out there on the boulevard , they were always on top of their game , trade mark rear doors.painted same as the cab , old school cool all the way , keeper.strolling !
I saw this truck 12 years ago, in the S.F. Bay area, at a warehouse: at that time the side panels on the trailer were still white. I chatted with the owner, and asked if I could take a pic of it, and he opened up his briefcase and handed me a pic, which I still have! (And just looked at) Always wondered whatever happened to it: glad to see it's still out there.
Wow that's such a cool rig and what a great interview, thanks so much. Needless to say I'm sure he's very proud of it and rightfully so, what an absolute gem.
@@MissFlatbedRedjust seeing this story for the first time. As soon as I saw the BJ truck i immediately clicked...lol...only then did i realize it was a Red story...i was like omg...too cool! Glad u did a story on them. Seem like super nice folks and the Kid will get it eventually and keep it nice. Thats awesome! ❤
it was build with 2speed rearends . 355 reaers and 13 speed runs along pretty good hauling 90- 100 thouasand payload all day long i bought it new $ 99,900 new. did have all the options.
You should make a commercial to precede your video. “The following story is brought to you by Our Lord. With Our Lord in your life, nothing is impossible.” A heart warming story if a man and his love for his family, friends and truck!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I'd love to take it for a spin around the block. God I miss that show. It was so special to see that Greg Evigan still drives when he did the prmotion for truckers against trafficking. 🥲🥲🥲
Imagine having a boss that looked out for you like that. His boss bought the truck for him to use with his company & then sold it to him with the trailer dirt cheap...
I lived in El Paso Texas in 2007, and saw this one or one just like it on I-10. It could have been the original one, I'm not sure, but it was cool to see 😎.
I was in Hollywood Ca on Sunset Blvd several years ago and I saw a truck just like this (BJ & the Bear livery and stretched frame) and a conventional KW900 with a different paint scheme. Both trucks had no trailers in a parking lot for a photo shoot or TV show/movie. Not sure if this was the truck or not, but looks very similar...
Being a foreigner, how would it be possible to visit and see this lovely truck? (they could make a truck or hollywood 2 museum), it would be a success... the most famous truck in the world and probably one of the most beautiful I was disappointed when they did an international tour of the Hollywood cars show, I thought it would be this beauty, but this truck is 1000 better than the one in the series excellent work
