I just recently found a red '92 Burner 4 in Holland: no bridge, pickups and electronics inside her... But, the owner did the right thing and losened the truss rod before putting her inside a gigbag and keeping her in a closet for >15 years! I just had to bring her back to life. I play passive 'old school' type 4 strings almost exclusively, and don't like onboard active eq on bass that much. But she needed the clear Ken Smith voice. Without pickups she had that tone already (the neck was still easy to adjust, after all the abuse). Not being a rich guy, I gave here a new EMG J set (the original one) and dual volume and 'passive' tone controls. And a lot of TLC regarding fingerboard (cleaning), a new bridge and adjustment & set up. It worked out fine! She's a real player and my first and only 'active' bass. And I'm planning on keeping her active for years to come, from now on. Wow, I never imagined these Burners were crafter so well! It made my job so easy, I only needed a little more patience (after more than 15 years in a closet!) than I do with regular setup jobs!
Wow that 6 sound like a US Smith Model. Amazing and you can grab these basses used on the bay or Guitar center for cheap. Now i'm considering getting a BSRB 6. Great video.
Johnny Long time no see man! Thanks for the review...Thinking about picking up a KSD Burner, to replace my Ibanez SR885. Need something with a little more growl!
