Cheers Ashley a good detailed explanation especially if new to the Business, as i remember starting a very long time ago nobody told you anything so its refreshing to see this at last. Cheers Andrew 😁
Hi Ashley. Good advice. After years of wfp cleaning different type of windows over and over again, 100% spotless result will become easy if you experiment different methods and equipment. You 'll exactly know which brush/jets to use, how long to agitate, which frames can cause problems, flow rate, rinse on or off the glass etc. There's so much variables.
Sure, absolutely. I don’t quite have the same level of experience in wfp just yet. I’m loving this supreme brush with DuPont bristles from Gardiner though, and I’m using the smallest pencil jets 1.4mm which I find helps to save water.😃👍🏼
A.E.Mackintosh Cleaning Services It's a very versatile and light brush. Have one too, suits best on about 3/4 on my Windowcleaning jobs. One of your older video's made me buy one actuallly 😁
THANKS. A little overkill on a window that size but good advice...lol.. I would say top third and bottom third are key followed by edges and finish with whole glass side to side. Up and then FAST pull down down and done. Do all top windows on one side of house before going back to do bottoms will minimize frame drips. A window that size should take you about 30 seconds per pane. Oh and definitely invest in some type of shut off valve at pole. Will save you a ton of money over the long term on that precious pure water.
@@aemackintosh It took me a while to accept the technology and understand clearly how to get perfect results, but once adapted, it's nothing but money. I did a large modern home recently with BIG plates, at various heights, and I I basically deliberately went slow just for appearances. Where I am is low TDS to begin with so it's really a no brainer. I don't even go up on ladders anymore, unless it's to do a skylight.
I agree with everything you’ve said in this video. The one thing I would say for people using fan jets is that rinsing on hydrophilic glass with fan jets is much easier than hydrophobic. I clean a lot of hydrophobic glass in old wooden frames in country homes. The best way to rinse with fan jets on hydrophobic glass is up and down. This makes the water move faster down the window rather than leaving a mist on the window.
Good thorough job that. Totally agree with you, it's hard to get a 100% job with wfp all the time. All you can do is tell the custy that if any problems ie spotting or a streak to give you a ring. Good vid 👍🏻 bud
Thanks for the good tips. What drives me mad is how come it takes me so long? People say I stand over it too much, but I just want a brilliant finish like others like yourself seem to achieve so effortlessly. I switched from trad to WFP because the average semi was taking me about an hour and everyone else was saying should be 20 mins max. Now on WFP taking me less time but still about 3 mins per window. Any less and I just seem to finish with a poor result!
Also along the same basic vein. Why I use so much water!! I'm using like at least one whole BigBoy backpack of water for the average house. I have been doing 8-9 of these houses a day, should I really be bringing with me about ten 25L containers of purified water every single day just to earn about £100 because it doesn't seem right 🤯😫
Yeah, it’s a balance of time vs being thorough vs water usage. The longer you are using this method, the more you will finely tune this balance of tool and technique. Keep up the good work!😃👍🏼
Perfect, works each time, how I've been doing it Ashely! 👍 I also clean under sills esp on top windows when do first clean, know alot don't do this, just makes you stand out for the crowd 😃 What's your opinion on 50 degree water jets or say 100 degree jets? Also rinsing on the glass?
Great! I’m glad you agree. It’s good also to be thorough. I do quite like a fan jet, but I reckon they use more water. I’m using small 1.4mm pencil jets which I think helps to save water.😃👍🏼
@@aemackintosh Thanks Ashely. Yes tried the 1.4mm actually tried them all and come back to the 2mm. Found 1.4, noisy and took longer. But feel it's a personal thing and what best works for you. Just be thoughough, do a good job each time and your be ok. 👍
Great thorough video. We have a task to do with our clients because they are usually none hit wonders or at best bi-yearly. We've been wfp for years however and we wouldn't be window cleaners without it. What are you using to turn the water on and off though???
I personally think the traditional way is a bit better...you’re using no where near as much water and can get real close to the windows and scrape off those stubborn micro stains. Also I find that especially on higher windows the pole fed system can damage air vents due to gravity. Contradicting that I will say that pole fed is a lot safer and a bit quicker, and that just means moving onto the next job faster! 🤑 Happy Thursday all.
There are pros and cons to each I suppose. I love the way wfp washes the frame as well and the windows should stay cleaner for longer since there is no soap residue left behind.😃👍🏼
The problem with Trad cleaning is the soap ( often a dish soap like fairy is used or dawn ) it gets into the seals and causes quite a lot of black leaching and damage to the actual seals after time combined with Uv sunlight . Of course both have got their advantages.. but above all Water fed pole should let the windows stay cleaner longer Dish soap attracts dirt.. So if you want to upsell WFP menton what i just explained that should ease the customers fears of concerns and get them on board so to say..
Thanks for the tips and videos. Do you have any tips for cleaning when you have the pole extended to 30 feet or longer when its difficult to apply pressure in order the give a good scrub.
The higher you go, the further back you should stand, if possible. The weight of the pole against the window should then do a lot of the work for you. Also, at height, it should be more of a rocking motion on your feet to scrub, rather than an action with your arms.😃👍🏼
I just leave a explanation letter with any new customer. Explaining it sometimes takes 2-3 cleans , before both window & frames become effectively sterile. Personally thats worked for me for many years now. ☘
Do you ever think to yourself, I could of done this traditional a lot quicker? Soap on squeegee off, edges and corners done, sills wiped onto the next. I’m always thinking this 😁
It has crossed my mind. There are pros and cons to each method. But I love the way wfp washes all round the frame far better and quicker than I ever could by hand. WFP also doesn’t leave behind a microscopic residue like traditional soaps can, which can cause the windows to become dirty again more quickly.👍🏼
Yes, except. You forget that one of the main reasons for the development of this method was for safety, no ladders, no falls and risk of severe injury.
Bear in mind this is the first clean and the next visit would be gone before trad gets to the back of the house.also no falling off of ladders which would mean a visit to the local covid hot spot
The way I do a perfect rinse If it was a first clean I would set my flow rate to 7 litres and rinse three times Using a good rinse bar If was general maintenance type cleans 3 litre flow rate and double pass rinse making sure all areas covered I do this and it works no spotting on the glass maybe thanks to the water softener I use for my purewater trolley system as I live in a hard water area
Yeah, pretty much. But if you know it’s being cleaned nice and regularly it won’t be so dirty, so it probably won’t need quite as much scrubbing or rinsing.😃👍🏼
I get rgat this video is old. But as someone who is thinkjng of trying to get a round together, ive looked into wfp and uts a rabbit hole. Have you done a video for a complete novice ..ie what hoses are neefrd, what adapters, what brush and motor etc. There seems to be so many combinations. Appreciate any help.
Check out my training course where all this is explained. The window cleaning course will be out in the next week or so. www.aemackintosh-onlinetraining.com/courses/window-cleaning-tools-and-techniques
Thanks! I like different brushes for different purposes. DuPont bristles for regular cleans, nylon for first cleans, hybrid with boars hair for certain other tough jobs.😃👍🏼
The other day I did one house. I cleared out the gutters, washed the fascias, pressure washed the drive and cleaned the windows. I was done by about 3 and I earned more than if I had just done windows all day.😃👍🏼
On this small pole I’ve put a little tap valve. On my other Ova8 I’ve got a univalve. The Gardiner website has some great hose connectors and attachments.😃👍🏼
Yes, of course I have a univalve on some of my other poles. I have to try these things. I put the little tap on this pole and I’ve never got round to changing it.😃👍🏼
Well I suppose if you only have 10 houses (not that you only have 10 houses)you wont focus on how many you do in a day but If you have a lot and have to work 4or5 days a week to get them done then you do have to make sure you get a certain amount done, I don't consider it an achievement to do as many houses as possible, or more than anyone else, just enough to get the correct amount done each day for the week and for the month. The question was only out of curiosity not to be better than anyone else
Do you find higher PSI helps with getting a better finish? Im working on about 50 as recommended by a friend but having issues getting a perfect rinse. All my customers are happy, but I'm not. Fussy bugger 😂
I usually work with my controller somewhere between 30-40. It depends on the size of the brush and the type of jets. I’m loving a rinse bar at the moment for a good thorough rinse.😃👍🏼
I usually have my pump controller set to around 30, but it depends on the jets I’m using on my brush. Recently I’ve been using a rinse bar and I’ve had the flow set slightly higher to help me work more quickly.😃👍🏼
I wanted to ask - I use waterfed poles - but have a hard time with calcium/hardwater spots - any solutions? (Ive been following you for a while, love all your videos) 🙂I think my bristles might be too soft also - is that important? (the rigidity of the brush?)
Hi AE, seen window tracks get flooded when helping on jobs...would you set up drop towels there before washing or would you mop up the flooded tracks afterwards?
That window was clean, why don't you do a demo on a manky window and frame. People can get a better gist of it then and see that it's not a bed of roses like that.
@@aemackintosh I can totally relate to this ash, I've filmed dirty windows before, then when I've watched the footage on the pc it looks clean! Haha the camera is just not as good as the human eye 😁👍🏻
