Hard to believe that Audie Murphy, who still looks so young (and was) in this movie, was the most decorated American service man ever. And he died too young
It's ironic that a man who faced so much danger on the battlefield and survived should have died in a simple plane crash after he became a civilian. 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
@laurieelliott9889, I recall my Father (also a WW2 veteran) saying, Hollywood, at that time dominated by hard working Jewish people who are much maligned these days, appreciated Audie's valour and tried to give him well paid work.
Audie Murphy (1925 - 1971) - *THE most decorated U.S. solider in WWII...!* He rose from the rank of private to officer with multiple battlefield promotions and was awarded the Medal of Honor before his 20th birthday! His steely inner confidence was forged in the crucible of war! And his Texas southern way of speaking helped propel him to movie stardom - thanks to the great actor James Cagney who launched his movie career after seeing Audie's picture on the front cover of Life magazine. Audie Murphy was one of the best western actors in the 1950's but he played other roles as well. Also not very well known is that after he tragically died in a plane crash at age 46, his wife Pamela devoted the rest of her life to helping veterans in a California VA hospital until her death 2010.
Audie was excellent in this role. Pleased DNA reflects that William Bonnie went on to live a full life. Maybe the greater facts will be revealed, as a number of Family Members of Billy's and even the James Boys, made statements revealing he lived undee another name.
"davegauvin7234," With someone as FAMOUS as America's most decorated World War II hero and one of the biggest western movie stars of the mid 19th century, your answer is just a few key strokes away on multiple search sights. In fact, in the time it took you to type your question you could have typed the question on Google or Wikipedia and had the answer in a fraction of a second. "Where's Audie Murphy buried?" is hardly a state secret.
Audie never got the mental health he needed for all the Hell he went through in WW2 ! Now any toward in the military with a hangnail gets total disability for life and a free ride Audie was a true soldier who lived a nightmare like countless others who really fought !! RIP A M
@@vleldaddio210 I learned about Audie Murphy from a Sabaton song “To Hell And Back” and I honestly wish I knew more about him earlier! Now, I cannot keep watching his movies/shows!

@@vleldaddio210 The didn't have the care then towards PTSD they have now. Audie spoke out about it and encouraged Congress to do something to help soldiers returning from war. Alot of what is being done now to help soldiers is because of him. I don't think its fair to say anyone Military with a hangnail gets disability for life. Do you know their story or what they went through? I have a feeling that those you say are getting a free ride would rather not. If they are getting disability it's for a reason. The military like the government doesn't give everyone disability even if they need it. I respect anyone who has served in our Military and if they need help I'm for giving it to them. Where would we be without them?
Like Matt Damon, age never bothered Audie. Forever young. When asked why he decided to stand on a burning tank and take on an entire German platoon, the answer was simple: They were killing my friends.
Very excellent. I am not a western fan, but this is a very sad true story about a "little goat" "Billy the kid" Is good to know the truth about how loyal he was. Thankyou
A young Audie Murphy portraying as many have Billy Bonney. Rarely seen on television not always accurate but a movie for sure. The lovely Gale Storm also starred.
This is all fiction. Billy the kid's actual life was very different then what was portrayed in this film. He didn't kill so many people in gunfights, not even close.

Thanks for the info. Didn't know all that details. Great man, Noble character. What else we can say...!!. Had a great wife too it seems. RIP Audie Murphy. His movies are highly enjoyable.
Paul 1 even though I'm not an American I was outraged the other day when I saw an image of John Wayne on the Green Beret movie knowing that Wayne was a draft dodger where Audie Murphy and many other American actors put their hand up to help defend their country. And Wayne being the coward was made to be the hero in all of his movies.
@@robertbutler8004 Audie wasn't an actor when he joined up, that happened later after he left the army. John Wayne was considered 4F because he had 4 children and was their sole support. But your right that many actors did put their lives and careers on hold and joined the service, including James Stewart, Tyrone Power, Clark Gable and many others. We owe them all a debt of gratitude.
That’s true and he died in the plane crash due to fog and the pilot couldn’t see and while he was on the radio this is what the radioman “were blind , we can’t see anything , wait it’s gone , ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhyy!”
Buenas tardes está es la segunda vez que les escribo por favor todas las películas de Audie murphy en español latino son muy buenas las pocas que e visto de.este actor desde cali Colombia gracias por su atención ❤bendiciones
It's almost kind of similar to slightly close to the actual stories of what the real events of Bonnie's life was like. Except the names of most are changed and the way things happen are estimated in a Hollyweird way. Which isn't unexpected really. Audie does a great job as always but woah man he's WAY TOO GOOD LOOKING to be the real Kid LOL. From the pictures of Bonnie we can see he had a big scar across his face and his teeth were troublesome etc.
@@fredjones7705 must have a very good heart. No scars of the wars, as you say certainly a big mystery indeed. We don't see men like him nowadays of such integrity.
@@rv_316 "No scars of the wars..." You should read up on him -- he was deeply scarred by the war as his wife and those who knew and loved him stated. He would have nightmares of comrades he couldn't save, she said, and be unable to sleep, etc. Alcohol made him abusive. Yes he, as with any who fought through that war and were empathetic people, like my own dad, was deeply scarred by the hell of it. How any of them adjusted to "normal" life again I'll never know, except that many of them depended on alcohol to do so and had been taught to bury their emotions, though their anger could burst through under stress, especially when drinking. I'm sure other wars created the same results for all sides involved.
@@rv_316 He was very scarred by war. As someone else said, he'd have horrible nightmares and once while having a flashback pulled a gun on his first wife, Wanda Hendrix. One of the reasons she left him, because she didn't know how to deal with it. Audie also slept with a loaded gun under his pillow at night. He didn't drink but he did get addicted to sleeping pills, trying to get a good nights sleep, but finally recognized the condition and locked himself in a motel room for a week to go cold turkey. Once of his movie friends who worked with him in several movies, said "Audie was like a coiled rattlesnake, but never in a bad way. He didn't take any guff off anyone and once pulled a stunt man off a horse, who was being disrespectful to the leading lady of the film and told him "never do that again!" most lightly Susan Cabot who was a tiny woman. He also told the story about Audie, that on this same movie, that he and Audie were on their way to the location and had some time to kill so stopped in this bar for a quiet drink. "Audie didn't drink, so he ordered a rum and coke and kept sliding the rum over to me. This big guy who towered over both of us started to harass us, in particular me since I had long hair, that I'd let grow out because my part required it. Audie politely asked the man to leave them alone, since all they wanted was a quiet drink. The man responded by grabbing my hair and pulling my head back. Audie got up and punched this man, knocking him out with one punch then sat down and finished his drink. I was in awe! This man out weighed Audie by at least 100 pounds and was 6'4" if he was an inch and Audie took him down like a sack of potatoes". That was Audie Murphy. A man who had his flaws and demons from war, but had courage by the truckload and loyalty to a fault for his family and his friends.
My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not. If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause: Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit: We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil: Cast in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse: My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path: For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood. Surely in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird. And they lay wait for their own blood; they lurk privily for their own lives. So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; which taketh away the life of the owners thereof. Proverbs 1:10-19
Audey was. A. Phenomenal young man. Now. Theres a. Fine Fella. What a great amazing guy rough. Tough and you. Will have enough if u ever Tried to fight him
Look at his baby face, he was so beautiful. Who ever could have imagined that he had all that honor behind him. I love his movies..Gun smoke, The Wild n The Innocent, No Name on the Bullet, and his 1st movie ever..Bad Boy, he was all that and a bag of chips, as they say
He really was a very handsome young man and his whole life looked much younger than he really was. So sad that he and so many others had the horror of war that touch them all their lives.
@@ringokidd387 Henry McCarty aka Billy the Kid was born to parents of Irish Catholic ancestry, Catherine and Patrick McCarty, in New York City. While his birth year has been confirmed as 1859, the exact date of his birth has been disputed as either September 17 or November 23 of that year. A letter from an official of Saint Peter's Church in Manhattan states it is in possession of records showing McCarty was baptized there on September 28, 1859. Census records indicate his younger brother, Joseph McCarty, was born in 1863. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billy_the_Kid So why are you lying to me...Ringo?

@@rosenjambi3374 I doubt that detail stopped any Audie Murphy fan from enjoying "The Kid from Texas." However, fact of the matter is, Audie Murphy knew guns in wartime and peace time, in real life and movie life 'backwards and forwards.' So, 'southernshooter''s Comment is more valid knowing that that detail re .30-30 being unavailable during The Kid's lifetime would have jumped off the page of the script upon Audie's first reading of it.
There was no "fast draw" in the west. That's a hollywood fabrication. The Kid was always ready to fight and absolutely ruthless. His small stature and baby face caused people to under rate him time and again to his great advantage...and their sudden demise.
@John Power No but unlike you I actually studied in school. There is not one documented instance of people squaring off and seeing who was the fastest. If you stood out in the street and challenged someone they would just shoot you from a window or other suitable cover.
Audie Murphy.....want made him a hero also killed him....standing on a burning tank ....ready to expload ...while single-handedly firing a machine gun holding off and killing scores of german attackers to save the lives of his fellow soldiers...made him the most decorated soldier in the history of the war.......but it no doubt created the scars that made him the paranoid abusive alcoholic...that resulted in his destruction.....
HE PORTRAYED billy the kid,he was perfect for the part, beings he was a young warrior, from the great state of texas,he had a lot to live up to,seeing the men he fought with dying right in front of him,his strength and duty and honor took him over, helluva man, don't let the young looks fool ya,he was driven, his date with history was inevitable, god rest his soul, god loves him, cause he hates cowards, long live his memory
