He does all that shit with just a guitar. Both guitar and bass lines with the same hand. And it isn't just about the skills, it's about the melody. And boy this guy has both.
+Mikael Salander As a guitar player of 25 years - I totally agree. Not just his playing its his swagger and whole vibe - one the coolest players out there now.
i hate when ppl complain when artist dont sound like they do on albums in person. who wants to do something exactly the same way every time. i could see if she was singing off key or missing notes but its obvious shes not trying to hit the normal octaves
Don't think that Alison's voice became worse with the time (and the cigarettes) as many people say... I think she simply started to move more on stage that's why she isn't always able to control her voice that well. Anyway; I will always adore her; she's just marvellous
Mad daM I agree...I used to think her voice was declining but I just saw them in Denver this month, Alison's voice is very clear and surprisingly powerful in person. Now I just chalk the youtube concerts experience to poor recording devices. :)
Sick and tired of women in music trying to be "sexy". It belittles actual talent. I really like The Kills. Don't get me wrong. But as someone who knows damn well that female artists of equal talent who are overweight or "ugly" than a male counterpart will have, I'm beyond saddened.
+Judy DeBoer I don't see Allison trying to be sexy. I see some very real rockstar attitude, that nowadays is very hard to find on females or males. I don't see her as a regular sexy kind of woman, she is sexy because her talent and her attitude. Also, the Alabama Shakes singer are overweight, but nobody cares. Her talent is very recognized.
You both misinterpret me. I think she's great! BUT, I ask you, as (I'm assuming) straight men, would you find her music equally as compelling if she were not so attractive or fairly overweight? No, she is not dressed "provocatively", but she IS very pretty.
+Mijail Guillermo Lino Quintana She's not trying to be sexy as a performer, no. But her looks HAVE helped her gain attention. If anything, she's trying to revive early 90's grunge attitude. I can name 100's of male rock stars that became sexy AFTER the became rock stars (in other words, BECAUSE the were rock stars), but there are far fewer women who could claim the same path. I'm not really begrudging it. I'm pointing out a FACT. That is all.
Judy DeBoer yes, her music has nothing to do with her looks. you are not stating facts, you are making assumptions about heterosexual men. if you make good music, you make good music. period.
I just started listening to this band and as of now I do like The Kills but Alison sounds so out of tune. If you cant sing and dance at the same time just stick to singing the audience pays to hear you sing not dance.
I like The Kills generally. I really appreciate both, especially Jamie. But unfortunately Alison is a really poor performer. This guitar... so pathetic. Also her voice is getting worse and worse. Alison screws up every song live with her terrible tuneless yeling. She focuses on how stylish and nonchalant she is and she thinks that's enough. Such a narcissistic person, I'm surprised that no one has noticed it yet.
