Timeless performance! To your point, 1973 no ear piece, no autotune, Elvis is controlling his own fades both in and out with his superb mic control, displaying his unbelievable pitch. All while performing live with a full band, 2 backup groups and a orchestra. Great reaction! 🔥
@tamimosher9368
@tamimosher9368 Год назад
The thing that keeps hitting me is just how much he feels the music. That "death glare" was a direct response to the bass horns hitting their bottom pitches. AND ....... at the end, I am in awe of just how much power must have been coming from him to be clearly heard above the (as you say) full band, 2 backup groups and orchestra with the mic that far away from his mouth, and he STILL comes through so powerfully. The man is a true legend and can NEVER be imitated. RIP Elvis!

Elvis was nominated for 14 Grammy's, he was awarded 3, all for his gospel music.. and ironically 2 for the same song How Great Thou Art, both the recorded version and the live version both received a Grammy. So with the limited technology he still manages to give a Grammy award performance.. just amazing

My friend Chuck Berry is the King of Rock. Presley was merely a Prince who profited from the royal talent of a sovereign ruler vested with tremendous creativity. Also, to ensure all seats were available to the general public, there were No tickets given away (as are usually given to “important people”, insiders, radio stations, etc) & there was No set ticket price. People were encouraged to pay what they could afford. Elvis started sales off by paying $1K for his own ticket. Lived my whole life in Louisiana and grew up as a kid in the 70’s under parents crazy about Elvis. James Burton who played guitar for Elvis for many years is from and still lives in the town right next to where I live. I was only 8 when Elvis died so never saw him live but I’ve seen his old guitarist James play Elvis stuff many times here in clubs around town and he’s amazing. This was always my most fav Elvis song but being raised southern myself, it resonates. Everyone in the south knows what he’s saying with these lyrics. He always had a perfect voice for songs that sounded like or were gospel hymns. I’m 53 and started learning guitar two years ago. Suspicious Minds was the second song I learned. I love playing his music. It will always be spectacular.

Beautiful song creation, an ode to the American Civil War, and the struggle and sacrifice associated with that horrible conflict. This masterpiece balances it's dedication to both the Northern Union and to the Southern Confederacy. It incorporates extracts from three important pieces of music : The Battle Hymn of the Union, The Battle Hymn of the Confederacy (Dixie), and the beautiful Joan Baez classic "All My Trials." In doing so, the song pays poignant and heartfelt tribute to the vast numbers of Americans - fathers, husbands, brothers, sons - who marched off to war, never to return, bravely and willingly giving their lives for the freedoms and the way of life they held so dear, in this most costly of all American conflicts on record ( interesting fact : more Americans died in the Civil War than in WWI, WWII, the Korean War and the Vietnam War - all combined !! ) This was Elvis at his best, tipping his artistic hat to an important and lasting part of American history

Yours is the first I noticed that addressed what this was about and then some others added some additional details/clarifications. To be honest, when I first was introduced to this I thought what the heck is going on with this. But with further listening and internet reading I learned what it all was about and I gained a real respect and appreciation for it. I just can’t imagine anyone but Elvis having the gravitas and vocal capability to sing it. I think it is an amazing piece and belongs in what is referred to as The American Songbook.

A little trivia and fact. Elvis when he first started auditioned for a TV show called the Ted Mack Amateur Hour. He was denied, they wrote he had NO TALENT! I get sad when he sings and all my trails lord will soon be over. They were and now we only have his GREAT MUSIC to keep alive. Thank you soo much for appreciating the greatest male singer in history.

He was called the King for a reason. No one compares. He opened the door for more black performers & was a generous man. If you have not heard him do 'In the Ghetto', watch it. Powerful song with a totally different vibe. In those days, you could sing or you couldn't. No fancy technology helping anything. His voice was amazing & the world lost an amazing talent, far too soon. ~ I love how he always put the Karate moves in his performances. He started it when he was in the Army & continued throughout his entire life. He was a blackbelt & took it very seriously. My brother was in the air force & was stationed in Hawaii during the Vietnam war & got to see Elvis live for his Hawaii concert. 1973 maybe? I was sooooooo jealous.

Sounds like you have a solid and true Elvis fan guiding you through this journey. I’m so glad. I don’t know where y’all are from, but! If you don’t make it to Graceland, your Elvis journey isn’t complete. I hope Matt has made it there and if he hasn’t, he’s able to soon. You will not regret it, I promise. You walk through those doors and Elvis is still there embracing his fans. Just not in the flesh anymore. It’s one of the most beautiful feelings I’ve ever had. It’s in my top 3, y’all! You owe it to yourselves to take the trip. If you don’t enjoy it, I’ll repay you for your entrance fees! I’m THAT confident. Just like you feel his soul through his music, or at least I always have, it’s even more profound the second you walk through those doors. I have to go back, as a matter of fact, because it’s all changed since I went 7 years ago. You also need to walk down Beale St. and be sure to eat at BB’s! So much history there. There’s a ton more to do, but those two things I say are the top 3. There are a ton of super Elvis fans out there that can answer just about any question you may have about him. At least what’s public knowledge and fact from fiction. We know our Elvis history, that’s a promise. That’s any TRUE Elvis fan.
