Hi Sean . I have a b&w pv1d matched to hegel h190 paired with b&W 706S2 . The sub adds subtle bass to the presentation without being dominant. I thought I got ripped off by buying this sub as I could have bought a svs sub. But now looking back I made the right decision . The opposing drivers of the sub cancel out any distortion so the bass is clear and fast. Works beautifully. The hegel amp is just pure muscle its so clean sounding . It's a beautiful match to my system. I use tidal to listen to music and use hegels dac. All I need is the amp speakers and sub. Do a review on the hegel. You will end up buying one. Trust me. The musical fidelity has nothing on the hegel. I am a hegel convert! The amp is designed and made in norway

Thanks for the review Sean! I’ve been loving my Apogee Stages for 28 years convinced that no sub could integrate seamlessly with the panels...I finally grew a pair and picked up the kc62 and wow! Yes perfect integration with no noticeable x-over anomalies. I run the sub at pretty low volume but the foundation and musicality are there. I listen to rock, punk, classical, and jazz and this thing shines on all of them. Really happy with purchase and I agree with all your observations in the review. Great job

It also seems sort of like it was designed specifically to pair well with the LS50 Wireless II to make for a super compact, wireless, sleek looking, full-range system. If I was putting together a system in a small living space and my budget was $4K, that combo's something I'd take a hard look at for sure.

Thanks for putting out this definitive, mic drop level review. I've had it for weeks now and it essentially replaced 2 T5is, and 2 SB1000s. You nailed it. The RELs had seamless integration but lacked that slam. SVS had output but lacked tonality and texture. KC62 solves my dilemma. I'm using a pair now and it's overkill in my space so I'm going back to a single.

I think it's quite important to point out when doing speaker review's that a speaker that sounds great in your room might not necessarily sound as good in another persons room. I myself have experienced this when listening to a set of speakers in 2 different rooms. I think we can all agree that the room plays a BIG factor in how a speaker sounds.

@sadge9697
@sadge9697 3 года назад
@@robk5745 Here are my impressions that I posted in the comments of the review video: "So...I took delivery of these speakers late yesterday. I've probably only got about 10 hours or so on them, but I can see what Sean was so excited about. You don't want to stop listening! I'm going through endless playlists right now, and it's a beautiful day outside...I really need to get out! Before these I was listening to Tekton Impact Monitors, so I was really intrigued by Sean's comparison to the Double Impact. The Tektons are more neutral, and I'd agree that they are a little cleaner in the midrange, but these Model 5's are fun, fun, fun! Something about the way they're voiced makes everything I've tried so far very enjoyable to listen to. I love the mahogany finish, in part because it talks to the reddish wood trim and floor in my listening room, and the standard grills look great to me. I've found the middle setting on the "acoustic balance switch" to work best for me on most music. The build quality on these is fantastic, including the stands. The binding posts are beautiful and look to be high quality. I don't really know how to explain the sound of these. This is definitely a toe tapping and head bobbing speaker. I've caught myself doing that a lot, and even jumping up to dance once in awhile. I can't remember the last time I did that with my Tektons. Don't get me wrong, the Impact Monitors are great and I'm keeping them for now, but I'm really enjoying the KLH's. Many thanks to Sean for this review. I've found that my taste in speakers tend to align with his, and he has a real gift for explaining the sound of a speaker, at least for me. Forgot to mention, I'm driving these with a VTV Purifi-based power amp and a Pro-Ject Pre-Box S2 DAC/Preamp."

At some point I might just get this sub and I must admit my hands are itching to get one of this even if my room is 2.8m x 2.0 (9.18 x 6.5). Only thing which holds me back is the cost. £1500 is alot of money but it will pair well with KEF LS50 Wireless 2 I heard and read and the feedback is that it just gives another dimension to the overall sound. I have it with the KEF LS50 Wireless 2 and it is awesome. The LS50w2 stops putting out the low bass when you hook up the sub and it makes the mid and high range sound even more awesome than the speakers do on their own (even though they are awesome without the sub).

This is not quite an acoustic suspension design but it's close. One of the first if not the first to use two opposing in phase subwoofers was Teledyne Acoustic Research model AR9 which used two 12 inch side firing acoustic suspension woofers per channel. Placement is critical. Based on their recommendations the optimal placement is sideways on the floor against the wall at least 2 feet from a side wall. Two of these units is clearly preferable to one. If you try it let me know what you think.

Well, I can agree with you on the sound quality, BUT the real problem with the KC62 is that it turns off at low volumes. It's a very annoying problem. We don't always feel like listening at very high volumes and, on the other hand, in certain situations we can't. Many people complain about this problem, but KEF doesn't seem to be able to solve this serious problem. I have already sent the KC62 self to my seller, who has already contacted KEF, but so far, after more than 2 months nothing. I connected KC62 with my LS50W II, in manual or LFE mode, but the problem persists, What should be a good set is compromised by the KC62 problem. Unacceptable.

here we go... how about RSL Speedwoofer (or two of them) vs the KEF kc62 ... or two of KEF...? money be damned, but I don't want any sub bigger than the RSL .. what's your take? music mainly, though I like I good movie but I find that if it's good enough for music for me it'll be good enough for movies for me. moderate size room, moderate listening levels let's say 85db with sometime cranking it up higher.

Great review mate. Would you recommend 1 or 2 KC62 in my scenario? I’m using Adam a77x monitors atm. (looking to replace them with KEF LS50 wireless II) - Small office room for work, listing to music, playing games etc - 3x5m - Semi acoustic threated - My desk on the long side of the wall Appreciate the response

If possible can you please try to get your hands on the KF92 from them. I’m dying to know if everything that I hear about this sub is a direct translation to that one except bigger and louder.

kef 92 has better sound quality also. i think its same value for money.

@@sudd3660 I’m surprised to hear that. I was thinking that you might have to sacrifice some “musicality” with the bigger sub. I’d love to hear from someone who has heard both!

@@mattolsziewski7164 hope we get some video reviews comparing both, i seen some home theatre people getting the kef 92. maybe Steve Guttenberg had both in for review.

@@sudd3660 yea Ik spare change did a good review on it, but it was primarily home theater focused. Like I said a direct comparison would be ideal.

I have the kc62 sub and kef lsx II and turned the volume up 60 percent and bass at 10 all the way. Played a song with lot of bass. Will anything get damaged? Or did it damage?

Regarding KC62 v the Rel. What about if one is going to be listening to music(only) with full range speakers and a 40Hz sub setting. What would you recommend as the best option? Everyone so far recommends the Kef in this scenario.

I have no interest in high decibel listening and I'm not into surround sound or big home cinema setups for large rooms. I just want a good allround sub for TV and music that fits into a cabinet in a smaller apartment. To me it's between the KEF KC62 and the SVS 3000 Micro. After watching two reviews here on Zero Fidelity (also the comparison video) it seems like the KEF KC62 could be the better option, but it's tempting to choose the SVS due to the app and the lower price - but it's not as compact. Haven't bought the hi-fi cabinet yet so I don't know if that's a showstopper.

Quick question, I have 2 KC62...does that mean that I get the 11Hz extension above 85 decibels. I have no way to measure?

I think the key is get 4 of them and put one in each corner of the room and set the two on the back wall 180 degrees out of phase with the front wall subs to eliminate room boom. At least that’s the theory. I may do exactly that and use them with my Spatial Audio X5 open baffle speakers.

You said you wish it had an app where you could adjust all the settings. I have the KEF app and can adjust all of the KC62 settings while sitting in the chair across the room listening to it.

Great review! As someone with a combined 2 channel/home theater setup, I love that the RELs can be connected via LFE and high level outputs simultaneously. Is that something that can be done with this?

I'd fire off an e-mail to KEF or read through the manual to see if its possible. I never asked.

Question to anyone reading this, I have to go with a small sub and I am trying to get low, clean, quality sound. I do listen a lot to hip hop and like feel the bass a little but not too crazy. I have a cheap 10" polk audio speaker that I am happy with. So I want an upgrade but I was always told larger driver the lower the bass. With that being said based on my research and speaking to kef they belive this is better low range and quality then there 12" sub BUT its from two 6.5" drivers which made me skeptical about it. Am I good with this sub for what im looking at?

Very nice review, as usual, very informative. Right now I'm in a dilemma as the best option to add a pair of subwoofers to my hifi stereo system. My only interest is music, I live in an apartment, my living room is 45 m2 - Two Kef KC62 for 3000$ or Two Rel T7/x for 2300$ ? I'm really leaned thowards the Rels, what do you think in 2 words? TIA
