Got this on the the _Capcom Beat 'Em Up Collection_ and played it for the first time a couple weeks ago and I must say it's a pretty awesome game. I didn't know you could block some attacks though, that's good to know! I really like playing as the Elf.
Had been looking for the name of this game since my dad passed. I used to play this with my dad when I was a kid. Thanks for posting, it brought back good memories!

@purplehaze2342# me too there's a trick too get 99 continues aka 99 lives first start a single player game as the fighter then before you ues your last continue have tge second controller plugged in and select the Elf then Quickly ues you last continue you both should have 99 of them for both fighter/elf they work thr best together because the Fighter's close range combat and the elf's long range with bow&arrow's kicks ass together me& my cousin beat the game this way# fyi the Japanese version of the game had same thing abd the characters actually had names unlike the American/European version's i don't know why they whent with just there Job classes i means it's obvious that the fighter wizard and Cleric r humans and dawrf & elf r demihumans but they actually have names why the f didn't capcom just not ues there names
brings me back to many many many years ago when i played arcade games in the youth centre i recently started to get back into retro games. Brings back memories of when i didnt wanna go dance with people but i bashed the buttons on the arcade instead XD and when there was arcade machines in the cinema with the gun XD
It's a good game - shows the direction Capcom was heading in terms of D&D: Tower of Doom. The only criticism I have is the combat is a bit shallow; only one main attack, no real specials or rush attacks.
Really enjoyed one coining this one. Started with the really powerfull mage, switched to archer and finally managed to do it with the fighters. Can't remember why, but I used to complete the first level a lot slower. Prolly in order to get more gold or something.
Active parry: move backward + attack just before enemy blow lands. It requires precise timing, so it's generally safer to keep on the move to avoid the blow altogether.
