No one knows why she kept smiling. Maybe she was star struck, maybe not. Approach her with confidence (but not arrogance). Ask her if she wants to go get dinner sometime. Don’t say that you like her. Just talk to her like you’re wanting to get to know her. Say “I dunno if I like you but I know that I want to get to know you.” She has every right to say no and you have to be comfortable with rejection. Happens to every dude. But you gotta try.

I think she really liked Doug. If she was only trying to get a bigger tip she would have flirted with Deacon too and she wouldn't have secretly asked Deacon about Doug's relationship status.

You might be right. She probably lost interest when Deacon told her Doug was married. If she's a decent person, she would have backed off from the flirting now that she knew he wasn't available and started treating him like just a customer, which is probably exactly what happened.

Ough. It is literally in the job description to be friendly, greet customers, remember to smile, etc.. most guys understand this isn't an invitation, but some just misinterpret being personable with being flirty or inerested. Its SO awkward when a customer "makes a move" and honestly creepy. What was friendly banter is now totally awkward because you are still forced to talk to and interact with the guy. I get that its sad, how maybe women aren't attentive to them, but its literally our job to be helpful and attentive!
