it's so cool how they can each sing their own part without getting messed up by the other parts... it's so much harder than people think and plus it's a cappella too
I have to disagree with that, I think it's on the contrary pretty easy. However, singing that well, you have to work hard plus been born with the ability.
It's unbelievable how clean and pure their sound is all the time, even more so considering the speed in which they sing this. I really tried to pay attention to when they breathe, but no matter how close you listen, you cannot hear a single sound that's not part of the music itself. Not even natural lip sounds or something. Unbelievable indeed.
We performed this song in choir some 15 yrs ago and I've never forgotten it. One of my favorites. It was so hard to concentrate with this man's facial expression😂😂😂
I have to sing this for a UIL concert and doing the alto part l, I laughed so hard at the guys face when he sang!!!!!!! Even agreed that we would do that when we sing, we became the chicken choir!!!!!!!
The song isn't allusive at all, it says " He feeds the chickens and I take my pleasure so high than the screams of the poultry are nothing to compare with mine". But maybe was it a bit innapropriate to give the real traduction...
My choir just premiered one of Philip Lawson's brand new compositions two days ago with the men themselves, which was scheduled before Julian made it in the group!
Thank you so much for explaining this to me! I think we sang this in high school(I don’t remember singing the last parts of the song though.)I have been wondering what this song means for several years now!(I graduated High School in 1991.)😊
the translation of the last sentence isn't "and leaves me to do whatever I want" but " and I'm taking pleasure, my dear, I cry louder than all the fowls "
each one of these guys could have had a good career as a soloist and yet they came together for the sake of being greater than the sum of the parts. Sort of like the Dallas Mavericks. Only different :) I do like the earlier recording of this at the slower tempo un peu better, but hell, i aint gonna complain. Thanks for committing your lives to this music. Thanks for posting this.
There is a posting by @kingsingers showing a very young David and Stephen singing this very song.. have a look they are so young... David has a very fetching RED tank-top on and Stephen a Tweed jacket? It looks like they are singing in a sports centre???... Aww bless 'em :0)x
