If there are people in the hide talking the animals will not come within view. Is silence a rule? Or do you hire the hide for a period exclusively. Not all people know how to behave in a game reserve?
Cailin, at this stage (as far as I know) you can’t hire the hide exclusively. It’s there for everyone in camp to enjoy. Whoever sits in the hide will have to remind each other to be quiet. Luckily the water’s edge is relatively far from the front of the hide, so even when we were talking softly, animals still came down to drink. I have found that complete silence may actually make the animals more nervous than whispering.
