Ive had the g6 for 20 years, it's fallen down the stairs a few times, ate a few socks with no problem, still looks great and is a complete TANK of a machine. Best and only vacuum I will ever own
Parents bought a G4 when I was born, still running just as strong to this day, even after I was using it as a kid. Now here I am with a Generation 3 that works just as well, as well as a Classic III. Will never buy any vacuum other than a Kirby
Thanks for uploading this. I found a Gsix at the thrift store and was thrilled! I trapped it and walked around the store with me. I can’t wait to fix it up and get it going. Needs a new belt and light bulb. I might replace the brush roll just because I’m weird.
I have a Kirby 510 (very rare model) from the 1950's and it was abandoned in a mildewy damp outbuilding since it was new probably, paid $45 on eBay for it, and it still runs like brand new. No bearing whine or anything. I'll still refurbish it and give it new grease and all that but Kirbys are really tough vacuums. It's very very hard to kill one.
Well... if they bought it from Kirby brand new... they would have the lifetime rebuild program... basically I think they send it to Kirby and for $175 (I think) they completely rebiuld it to brand new and send it back.
"Congratulations! You're now the smart owner of a Kirby G-six." -Narrator Haha! I got mine today at Goodwill for $30.00! I feel super-smart!!! It looks like it's in great shape. My parents have a newer model and mine looks cleaner.
for their time...Kirby vacuums were the Dyson of their time. We have a 1957 model 516 and a Heritage 2 from 1986, both are being restored to operating condition.
It's true, they aren't good looking but heck, they last FOREVER. That means saving a lot of money. And the job they do does not compare to other vacuums.
We have one of these and it's a work horse. It's not for everyone. Especially those people who don't enjoy cleaning their home. I've gone through Hoovers and Dirt Devils around $150.00 and the Kirby is better. It's a real machine. Ugly as heck but but hey, I have a pretty wife, I don't need a pretty machine. I need a machine that works all the time.
Great machine, they are expensive, however they'll outlast the other cheap plastic junk vacuums on the market. These I believe are actually somewhat hypoallergenic as well if I remember correctly. The one my grandparents had didn't have bags.
love my Kirby Generation Six, especially the carpet cleaner. Does anyone have any opinions on the new ( Keeler ) bagless attachment. I was thinking of getting one, but they are expensive.
The bagless attachment is stupid. The G6 filters 1/10th of a micron and has excellent suction. The whole point of the bag is to make emptying the vacuum of debris as simple and sanitary as possible.
Yes, I know that low speed achieves lower suction, but why would you need lower suction just because you're on a rug? The relief thing was some sort of part that was supposed to help keep airflow strong while blocking a seal from forming.
jennifer montini belt on means the belt is connected to the motor so the brush roll spins Belt off means the belt is not connected to the motor so u can take off the front nozzle or vacuum hard floors
