I think the shelf in the exposed rock wall will be beautiful and will keep a lot of the character in the kitchen that would otherwise be hidden. This kitchen is going to be so cute and charming. I love seeing the cat scampering around in the background doing cat things.

I think it will be special to have part of the original pebble wall showing with a shelf maybe you could light it up? Also I'm glad you have the video to show where the cables etc are in case you want art on the wall, or are you having high cabinets? I am sure it will look fantastic whatever you decide to do. It's great to see your gardening/cooking too. Another fab bit of drone footage as usual 😀💜

You can put some antique bottles from the property on the shelves, but remember you'll need to clean them once a month, (bringing out a ladder), to keep them shiny and able to attract the attention and admiration of visitors. You'll find old bottles in the old loo holes in the backyard. People used to throw old bottles in their loo holes because they wouldn't burn in trash pits. You can find where they are by using a long metal probe. When you hear the sound of breaking glass down below, you've found one of the holes. Then you can excavate it, a two-person project. There will be about four filled-up loo holes in the backyard of a 200-year-old house. Who knows what treasures are buried in them? Bottles, glassware, china, pottery, clay pipes, coins, (which fell out of pockets), and perhaps a Napoleonic-era pistol. You can save yourself the trouble of digging a loo hole by looking in the barn for some old bottles.
@Diego_Leon
@Diego_Leon 6 месяцев назад
Thank you very much for your nice comments because yes, the truth is, the idea of the bottles is very good, I won't need to dig much because I already have several bottles saved that I have been finding around the house, but I have found a lot of utensils while I have been gardening since scissors to some pieces of ceramic but at the moment I have not found any gun and much less money who knows maybe one day greetings and thank you very much for your comment

One big step closer to a new kitchen! It's really hard to tell if your idea for saving a bit of stone wall will work or not without your full vision, but I think it's a nice idea to show the history of the building. Personally I'd probably have saved a bit of wall more at eye level and put glass over it (so there won't be a cold draft from it), and use it as a display case for things that were uncovered during the build that would be interesting for visitors and for the future, but I don't think your idea is bad or wrong in any way. It'll be interesting to see how it turns out!

You guys make a great, enthusiastic, hard working team. You’ve saved a ruin. My only critique is that you’ve made it like any other “ modern” home. Some of its unique features have been removed. Would have been nice in my opinion to have saved some of its quirks that set it apart from any other. Keep up the work and posts on your progress.

Also crushed eggshells sprinkled on your plants on the ground bake them for 10 minutes at 200° F let them cool and crush them and sprinkle on garden plants and flowers.
