I’ve watched so many clips on this subject I started to get cross eyed and bogged down with far too much unnecessary information. Oh thank you for knitting English style, I've been trying to do the continental to follow other teachers, but old dogs, new tricks and all that. It is so appreciated,

The Mary Thomas that wrote one of the first classic knitting help books “ The Mary Thomas Knitting Book” 1972 calls this style weaving. The more traditional is the loop carrying method called stranding. The weaving method does not create yarn dominance so that is why it was an unknown for you. I use this method and realise your right handed purling method is easier than the two handed one I tried based on my 2 handed weaving method. As I found weaving on the purl rows 2 handed too difficult I resorted to knitting backwards on a purl row. Your video made me realise that for purling dropping and picking up the yarns with my preferred knitting right hand may be the way to go. Thank you for the clear demonstration.

Yes, I so appreciate this short. I'm fairly new to colorwork knitting and am currently working a 3-color design which had extremely long floats and looked horrible on the inside. I frogged it and will be reknitting it but was looking for a good method to work in those long floats. Thank you!!!

This was the clearest explanations for carrying floats I have ever seen. In addition, most videos teach you how to carry floats when knitting, but not when purling. Before this video I did not even realize that you could carry the floats on the purl side of the fabric. This will really help my sock (heel flap and gussett) knitting. Thanks a lot.

I've tried SO many different ways of stranded knitting. Both yarns in one hand (or the other), one yarn in each hand, dropping yarn i'm not using, ring tension gadgets. This method is the ONLY one i've found that works and doesn't create color dominance. Thank you!

For those who are new to this: there are some different ways you can do it. My way is different from Gary's. I use two hands: the yarn I knit with is in my right hand (I knit 'throwing'), the other yarn in my left hand. Of course the result is the same, it's just another way of doing it ...
