The knock on affects no mist coat can have! 

Hate it when that happens, I think you should of sanded the edge of the old paint before the bin ,unless your just going to fill the edge out after the bin ,all up to each ones choice tho ,keep up the good work

So after you used the Gardz over the entire wall, do you still need to apply a mist coat?

Sometimes its how its polished by the plasterer. I've seen this done by the book mist coat and its not keyed to the plaster.

Its mind bending that mist coating still seems to be a dark art. What on earth is wrong with people.
