I did not expect Rocky to sing sm for this song lol, but holy shit he was hitting those notes hard. Main dancer, rapper and now basically a main singer???!!! I can't believe these guys are supposed to be Astro's two rappers. But to be honest, only these two can pull off this concept.
Wait til you hear "CPR" from this mini album... besides, Rocky is Astro's hidden/secret (not so much if you knew that already! 😉) high-note singer in several of their other songs.
He studied for music in high school, and once was chosen to be the main character in musical when he was a kid (but he gave it up to enter the company being a trainee instead.) Actually you can hear Rocky’s high notes in background vocals in some Astro’s songs, like First love(풋사랑), and he sang a lot since Mini Album, like Waterfall, Sunset Sky, Footprint and Don’t Worry, 4/6. Please listen to the new Mini Album you’ll find out more singing Rocky! I love his powerful voice in Lock Down, and Complete Me & CPR are all his solo songs.
fun fact from this unit: - jinjin and rocky highly participated in almost everything: music production, theme & concept, music video, lyrics, composition, choreography and all. all of these that we see and hear came from their own creative ideas - restore album was their self-produced album. all songs on it was made by jinjin and rocky - rocky is the main vocalist of this unit they said haha i’ve already expressed my side about their unit but will share here. because of what you said “they are a perfect combination”.. i realized that jinjin and rocky unit was a dream i’ve been hoping for to happen.. i never knew that until it really happened. ☺️
Hahaha..Yes. It's a covid song. You've got it right. Rocky and Jinjin wrote and composed this song to give hope and positivity to our hard times during this pandemic. Jinjin said Restore means recovery. They are hoping everyone to recover from this situation happening in the world by just taking a breather. All of the songs pertains to our situation today. And this just amaze me how excellent their artistry in music is. Especially, the company gave them the freedom to do all the concept of this unit. Jinjin and Rocky were imvolved in everything in this album, from song writing, producing, MV, choreo and even the concept teasers. I'm so happy that they were given freedom creatively. This is their artistry without being restricted by group image.

Not at me tearing up when you kept giving praises to both of them and how finally they’re both out of the dungeons! Rocky’s vocals are a not so secret thing among the fandom but now he gets to showcase it in this whole mini album. And giving Jinjin that singing credit, omg I am so proud of him! Your enthusiastic and detailed reactions are the best! Rocky and Jinjin wrote this themselves and also directed the music video! Rocky is a seriously amazing singer, but on most of Astro's songs he stays as a rapper. Rocky is such an amazing dancer, and he really got to shine here. Also the costumes the back-up dancers are wearing are references to the rest of Astro. The orange jacket costume is from MJ's solo MV, the police officer is from a cop role Bin played on a variety show (I think?), and the gray hoodie look is pretty typical of downtime Eunwoo. (Not sure how the orange construction dude is Sanha but maybe we'll find out.) Rocky loves Bruno Mars, so the song having a Bruno Mars inspiration isn't a huge surprise.
I know Jinjin and Rocky are geniuses. But hearing them getting praised by someone who knows about music fills me with joy and pride. If you can, check the rest of the album. Rocky rarely sings in astro he also auditioned as a vocalist but, because there's so many vocalists in the group he ended up as a rapper, but he is a vocalist and despite of not having much singing parts in astro music, he always kept improving his singing and that's the result . To sum, rocky is a rapper, he and jinjin write most of their rappings in astro, hes the main dancer in astro and also the one who teaches the choreos for them, and he's a singer. Rocky is a whole package....

Great song. It also looks like Rocky had a food delivery bag and a bike helmet on his couch. We’ve certainly seen a boom of the bicycle food delivery in the last few years. And JinJin has his online university happening. Both the life of my kids.
Yes rocky debuted as a rapper but he was a vocalist as trainee and now he is called bruno rocky by the fans because of his covers for bruno mars song ( they sound so similar- even sound cloud once mistaked him for bruno mars) for his vocals and that's probably why there is bruno mars refrences in the song 😂

PD, I was so excited to see you had posted a reaction to this video! It is definitely not what I expected from ASTRO's rap line subunit. I was a little wary of the covid theme for the same reasons you mentioned, but I ended up loving this track. Sonically, I believe Jinjin mentioned that he actually rarely listens to kpop, so I loved the funk inspiration. Where Moonbin and Sanha's subunit went for a sexy theme, Jinjin and Rocky also went for an adult theme - of partying and drinking, which I think is super unique considering Rocky debuted as a teenager, and Jinjin has the role of being group leader. So - there's even a third layer when it comes to looking at how much they've grown. :)
To me this has such an Astro vibe. In that it makes me just so happy listening to this. Even in their more mature phase since All Night they really kept to their refreshing vibe (with, imo, the exception of One which is a hood song but didn‘t feel much like Astro to me). This song gibes me an ear to ear grin and makes me boogie every time I put it on. Love it.
I'm sooooo happy you love this, PD! I was hoping that we'd have at least one track that was more of a hardcore rap, since we've got both rappers as a sub unit, but there isn't. That said, they really gave us a variety of great songs, and yes, they did choose things with a decidedly COVID theme, but without all the "it's only COVID" sentiments you noted here. I'm excited for them. I really hope this is the moment when Rocky gets more exposure for being a total ace (Dear Studio Choom AOTM...), and as well that it satisfies Jinjin's need/desire to move forward and do different things. As you know, Jinjin and Rocky are the brilliant duo mastermind behind Astro's single hits in last 6 years, so I totally proud for their sub unit debut. They made all music production from scratch including dance choreography and MV concept. CLASSIC POP DANCE FUNK + COVID THEME = MINDBLOWING. They're genius hidden gem👍

I don't know if you are aware but Jinjin contracted Covid in 2021 and was briefly hospitalized. So this piece hits strong to every Aroha who knows they made this song to tell the world to Just Breath(e) and all will be eventually restored/refreshed! the theme reminded me so much of hoppippolla's "let's!" where it's not explicitly about covid. the feeling of seeing that there's good weather and desperately wanting to go out for a drive is universal but it was amplified by quarantine

You're right. If there wasn't the whole barrier between pop and kpop, this song would be topping charts left and right because it's just that good. The concept, the song, the double meaning, the choreography, everything about this is what people don't know what they're missing. Both of them participated heavily in this album so I expected no less than this because their previous composed songs were amazing! I was just surprised by their genre since it's something they've never done before. I know ASTRO made choreo video with Uptown Funk before and Rocky is a huge fan of Bruno Mars but seeing them write a song in this style is a whole new level.
i’m glad you loved jinjin and rocky’s just breathe! it is soooo good! been on my playlist since it’s reease~ rocky is also an amazing vocalist. i couldn’t believe it until i saw fancams and heard his vocals. he sometimes takes over some vocal adlibs from astro’s songs. jinjin too! i’m doubly glad that he sang the chorus as well. it’s such a joy to watch these two and as you said, they are the perfect combination. i also cannot imagine this song without either of them. i can’t wait to watch their live performances on the music shows!
I had no idea what to expect for this comeback but Just Breathe and the Restore Mini-album as a whole blew all my expectations out of the water. I love the variety of styles they showcased in the different songs, and I loved their taking inspiration from the current situation and using it to power creative, beautiful music! In other words, I agree with you completely! A solid 11/10! Thank you for reacting to Astro, and especially to this debut for JinJin and Rocky. Fantagio hasn't put a lot of support behind this comeback, especially financially so having additional promotion- especially from channels as influential and complimentary as yours- is really helpful! I definitely recommend you check out the entire album. I also think you'd enjoy checking out the highlight casting (medley) and the concept teaser they did for this, which were also very creative. I won't say anymore, so there's no spoilers, but they're definitely worth taking a peek at.
