This is incredible...one of the best bands Britain has ever produced. Full of character, balls and executed like it should be. They’re all fantastic musicians...and the songs are full of guts, balls and very representative of the working man of the time. Mavers is one of Britain’s finest lyricists...I’d give a lot to meet him: then, now, whenever. Just because he’s not in the NME every week, or living in a pent house in LA, it doesn’t make him any less of a genius. Good luck to him

That singing voice he had back in the day. It's gone and we'll never hear it again. But it was one of the greatest voices we've ever had, up there with Lennon and Marriott. That La's album will live forever. Timeless melodies.

classic, i heard mavers has a bunch of new songs, but wont release any of it, come Lee we need some great guitar songs. the music scene in the uk is just dire, your not too old, do it for us bud !

The FINEST British band since The Smiths. (ONE of the best British bands ever...) You can HEAR what they did in THE KOOKS, LILY ALLEN et al... (There HAS to be another Album in these guys...) This is Pure music man...how it should be...after nearly 30 years these songs have aged not one iota...the melodies...lyrics...arrangements...no bullsh*t talk in between songs here...no self masturbatory guitar solos that last half an hour...no false *look how cool I am vibe* going on...no self important posturing...just 20 minutes of genius and then out of there...totally undiluted....ballsy and rootsy....just bloody brilliant. Lee Mavers is as good as any of them...who in Brit pop seriously comes up against these tunes?...in a way...he is the only guy to ever not sell out in the history of music...even Dylan and The Beatles gave the public what they thought they wanted. Lee never wrote for a market and could have easily cashed in by now with a second album. I am certain he could be a lot wealthier than what he is...but it was never about the money...on one level it’s a shame but on another it’s a brave, unique stance to both take and keep...and anyone with ear drums that work are still talking about his *Timeless Meoldy*...and that’s where they shall remain...frozen in time...I do hope he surprises everyone though...release a belter single or something...an album?...you never know...but if not so what...it’s soul music....and that kind of music is forever.x

Would love to see Lee back in the spotlight. He’s such a talent.

Lee Mavers is a conduit for the collective human voice.

The best song in my addled opinion is Fishin Net. They never released it but there a few live versions out in RU-vid ville. If you've never heard it, your in for a treat.

This band means more to me than any other band since The Beatles. Mavers is as fascinating as he is frustrating. To think that he's still out there, alive and well, sane of mind, but doing what? Smoking weed and going to football matches? All that talent, but he seems intent on crushing any chance of being anything other than an obscure, cult figure with one album to his name....

Lee makes his drummers stand up, its about gravity! would be wouldnt it lol

The La's album, imo, is one of the absolute all time greats, but I've yet to find live footage where they sound good, they always sound like a street busking band covering The La's. Shame.

I see a pretty girl in mauve on her boyfriend's shoulders - I imagine her kids are seeing this and saying - "Mum is that you" ???

People said Mavers got messed up on drugs over the years..but he looks pretty healthy here..and his voice is at the very least OK...I think it might have been a myth...maybe Mavers just wanted out of the music bizz or hassle of touring...does anyone know his truthful factual story since 1991?

One of the best ever bands but it's absolutely fucking mental that no one told that drummer to sit down. It sounds absolutely shite because he's standing up. Takes away all of the pace the song usually has.

And the drummer is stood up 🤔 🤷

If you like the LA'S then maybe give aussie band EVEN a go at.

Listen i love the La's and there's no doubt Lee and John made something unique and indeed inspirational. But comparing these guys and especially this footage to Oasis or the Roses.... Come on ffs

This lot remind me of Pete Doherty or on a lesser scale, The Bodines, with their attitude; and when I saw The Bodines at The Boardwalk, they didn't play their best song (Therese) either. It's all very well guys like Mavers & Doherty having this Indie/druggy attitude but don't they have a responsibility to the rest of the band too? What a waste.

This is one of the most boring concerts I EVER saw! Sheer waste of time. Wtf?!? A bunch of old drunk guys with a singer who looks like just being drag out of a mental hospital somewhere in the desert! This is even worse than Radiohead!! Although I recognize the guy from Cast, which were a good band actually.
