My Pa worked in the mines for so long and they used to sing LBM’s songs back then in the hostels! He tells his stories and sings these songs with much passion! His personal favourite is Yibo LaBafana! Now his son is an addict! 😄💯🔥
May the spirit of Baba Shabalala and others long gone to the ancestral world propelled you on stronger and stronger. Let the light never go out on the generations to are coming. Amanda
I follow you since I was young boy and I also sang this music Mr Mazibuko please try to talk to the group and sort the speed the songs are too fast and it's hard for us to enjoy them like before. Please reduce speed. I am from qwaqwa. My name is Piet. I really enjoy your music you doing great. Only the speed.
I really love "The Ladysmith Black Mambazo".. Though as I am not from the area, I don't understand the name.. I mean.. I THINK "Ladysmith" would be a name of a location.. and.. "Mambazo".. perhaps might mean.. "Choir"? .. or.. in my mind it could mean anything else, such as f.ex. "Message" or something.. I am REALLY curious.. I LOVE the songs and the soundscape used... but I can't help to ALSO think there may be some important meaning behind the name which is passing me by.
Their Wikipedia article notes that Ladysmith is indeed the founding location, Black is for the strong black oxen on farms in the area, and Mambazo means "axe" for how they cut down competition; they were dominant in singing competitions.
Correct is the name of their original town. Mambazo/ mbazo is a chopping axe . They used to compete with other groups of the same music genre and won most if the time until they were asked only to sing as prestige choir( to avoid chopping off other bands) Black is for the black ox which was string and could harder even in hot weather. The founder was from the farm. You can google the whole story, thus is just a summary).
