i mean thanks for the free advertising but there is a whole local community here, three in fact distinct communities that are often at odds with the way some of the entities conduct themselves and their business here on the lake . . . the financial abuse the locals endure along with the crap attention and effort given to environmental impact and clean up is why our animals, lands and waterways are stressed and the bottom of the lake looks like a garbage dump in some areas . . . i spent most my year cleaning up after tools that can't tend their shit or contain their stupid while enduring rich assholes and their flock who think us locals are here to do as they bid with no respect for anything they encounter be it the people, places or things. so yes, come play . . have fun . . . spend money . . . just remember the ONLY rule in life you'll ever need "Be Nice, Play Fair, Have Fun . . . Don't be a Dick!" . . . .
Live at the lake full time, just a few miles from Capt Ron's. This side of the lake USED to be very quiet, not now. It has become a zoo. Anyone want to buy 45 acres, 3000k sqft home with a 60 x 40 climent controlled shop??? I'm going somewhere where the citidiots won't migrate to!.
@@OfftheCuff_Series Not sure why the big influx of people in the last 10 years, there are really no jobs here except in the service industry which doesn't pay very well, and very seasonal, lot of the people are retirees who had weekend houses here moved from the city when they retired, most of the original local people who were farmers, ranchers etc. have sold their land and left. taxes in Camden county keep going up and up. 25 years ago my property tax for my house, shop and 45 acres was $415 a year now it's close to $1600 a year. still live on a gravel road, well water and a septic system, no services have changed in 25 years but a 400% tax increase ! People use to wave at each other as they drove by, very friendly, not anymore the lake area has just became a suburb of Kansas City and St. Louis.
@@brownh2orat211 Oh wow, that is a pretty significant change. Do you see it furthering in that direction? Or do you feel like it will level out? We should've gotten an interview with you!
@@OfftheCuff_Series Nope, I think it will keep expanding, I't great for business owners etc. but not so great if you enjoyed living a quiet country lifestyle, I know I can't change it and I know I do not want to live what's becoming a city lifestyle so I will be moving to greener pastures!
@@brownh2orat211 It really depends on the part of the lake you're at under the 25mm its insanity but when you get 2 around the 55mm or above its very calm and there is no tourists.
@@OfftheCuff_Series Seriously your team is documenting American life in the forgotten and the out of place people and places, like Point Roberts and the people at the Diamond mine. Great work. I'm an archaeologist and I know anthropology when I see it. I would also recommend putting some of your videos on linkedin too. Lot of museums and other groups would be interested in what you're doing.
The pontoons one inboard and one outboard have done 114 already and one almost flipped.. My friend Kenny stopped racing it after that.. Also the prince of Qatar brought his fast boat over and did the high speed at 244 mph.. 😂
The last few years especially durring covid,we have had 10 million visitors a year . And home prices on the water practically doubled 😢 But taxes are still pretty low on property
Where there is a big manmade lake there will be rich people who want to build mansions! Where there's rich people on the water there will be expensive toys as well!
I'm going down there for a Batchelor party end of April beginning of May. Any advice and tips for a good time. Also wondering if the water taxi's are running then?
That's so cool! You'll definitely have a great time. I'm not sure about the water taxis.. but you could always check out Captain Ron's nd possibly Party Cove if you can find a boat. Anyone locals have any suggestions??
@@OfftheCuff_Series water taxi won’t bring you to party coves plus you’ll need to find a legit taxi a lot of non permitted ones are showing up and being shut down
Paul Larsen broke the record in 2012 with speeds over 75mph.. which is kinda insane. amp.cnn.com/cnn/videos/sports/2017/06/09/paul-larsen-sailing-speed-record-vestas-sailrocket-americas-cup-mainsail-orig.cnn Before Covid came around we were looking at doing an episode at the Race to Alaska. Have you heard of that?
Bunch of Trump voters with their boats. They all have sexy houses and nice boats. There is the down ballot Democrat loss right there. High end is on the rise in Wyoming and other not city places. Home building is for the million plus crowd.
@@OfftheCuff_Series no. I come from Polish watched the series lake ozark and fell in love with the ato that I also like speedboats and water it captivated me doubly. Something beautiful.
@@taktak9136 Very cool! We're happy that you have found our channel, and hope you make it to Lake of the Ozark's someday! Have you seen our other episodes?
@@OfftheCuff_Series it has been getting more popular throughout the years and becoming less of a family place. It's all about who has more money than who. After covid last year more people than ever visited. I live here full time and people on vacation have no respect
@@OfftheCuff_Series lol fair enough. I suspect they may have been saved twofold this year. Quick Google shows They had a bit of a spike earlier in June and the weather was crap this year which kept people away
@@OfftheCuff_Series btw their covid data was really good this year. they set records for their businesses since they kept them open, and there was not data that correlated to spikes. There was just a big of crowd in 2020, lake of the ozarks never closed, nor did most of missouri (accept big cities). We all sought refuge from the craziness (closings) at the lake, all the bars and restaurants stayed open.
