The Lamenters are a tale of heroism, triumph, and great sorrow. They are proud and noble sons of the Angel, and many, many know these sons of the Angels, but the Lamenters suffer like no other Chapter of Space Marines ever face. They struggle would have crushed any other Chapter, but they continue to fight against all the enemies of mankind, and show valor, courage, heroism, and even compassion against the darkness of the far future. There are few true heroes within the Imperium, but this singular chapter of space marines have proven to many that they deserve such a title. For Those We Cherish, We Die In Glory.

The Lamenters are arguably the most loyal and noble of all Astartes Chapters.

Such good and Noble warriors against such terrible odds. They would make Sanguinius proud!

You know they're unlucky when they make the Crimson Fists, Celestia Lions, Scythes of the Emperor, and Raven Gaurd look fortunate.

My favorite thing about the lamenters is their warcry: "For those we cherish, we die in glory!" I'd put them up their with the salamanders in how they regard the lives of innocents. Also Baldermort, are the Blood Angels your favorite legion/chapter? They're my favorite group of astartes, and the Lamenters are my favorite successor to the BA's due to them having my favorite color, which is yellow.

My custom chapter "Pierced Hearts" are of a chimeric geenseed primarily consisting of Lamentors with a hint of Dark Angels "We weep for those who cannot, HEAR OUR CRIES !!!"

Ah yes. The Lamenters were in my opinion like the troubled cousin who always gets himself into deep shit, but is still missed when he doesn't show up on a family gathering...like the Destruction of Baal. lol

Can't help but point out you missed the part where the Lamenters got trapped in the warp and spent the equivalent of a century (iirc) fighting OUT of the warp, only to be investigated by Imperium authorities and found to have NO CHAOS CORRUPTION. One of the most loved, but rarely seen Chapters in the 40k fandom. Almost entirely because yellow armour plus black and white checks are a masochist's dream for actually getting minis painted.

Truly one of the most tragic groups in Warhammer.

The fact that no novel or animation, aside from short-stories narrated by the venerable Vox in the Void, is made in honor of the Lamenters such as on the Siege of Corillia, the Liberation of Slaughterhouse III, or the Badab War should be seen heretical within itself.

I feel so much for the Lamenters, the music choice for this video was perfect.

I have a theory the cursed founding was due to trying to mixing the gene seeds. The lamenters were a mix of mostly Sanguinius and some Dorn. If Dorn does have an anti warp ability and the astarties are made made with chaos influence maybe this ability counteracts any good fortune. As in what if their ability was to roll lucky with the dice of chaos but by mixing gene seeds it became the opposite? What if mixing this secondary gene caused the opposite of the perceived good trait from the primarch? I've always though was a fun idea for making a cursed chapter.

Thank you for doing an entry on the chapter I field on the table. Just like the lore lots of my matches end with very few lamenters living but many heroic deeds laced in.

An unsung bearer of great burdens is one of the noblest kinds of hero one can be. Where the Iron Warriors bent, the Lamenters not only managed to soldier on, but maintained a love for the common people rare outside of the sons of Vulkan.

Goddamn, I was genuinely surprised (pleasantly!) by the mention of the Afriel strain! That's from an old White Dwarf article from back in the day, isn't it? I remember reading about them. If memory serves, they experienced a fault in their DNA that rendered them all albino, as well. Is the connection with them and the Lamenters canon, or are you simply making educated inferrences, Baldemort? Either way, what a treat!

I love the lore of the Lamenters. I always wondered if this was an army that a GW employee made back in the early 90’s or 80’s that just couldn’t win. So they came up with this backstory for their army and fiction writers for GW found it hilarious and put it in the storyline. As always thanks for all the great content. I can’t get enough of this channel.

Ah the Lamenters, when metaphor meets a painter who hates life. Bleeding hearts with a checked background, and a really hard paint scheme to boot.

Lamenters: The one Adeptus Astartes Chapter the Imperium needs, but doesn't deserve.

I'm so glad that Baldermort got around to doing a video on the Lamenters, even if it was a relatively short one. I do so love the Lamenters, as I'm sure many have already said, they are so noble and caring despite the all that's thrown at them. Though I do kind of wish they wouldn't just get dumped on by the universe itself, but more so that they constantly choose to make noble sacrifices for the people of the Imperium and such things. Kind of like the Crimson Fists or Salamanders, but it just happens to them much more often. Edit I do wish someone good at Black Library would make a story where the Salamanders and Lamenters team up to protect a bunch of civilians from a chaos invasion, but things surprisingly don't go to complete crap.

Man I love Lamenters, truly the ones who live the most grimdark nature of the marines, unlike the night lords or iron warriors it's not self inflicted or perpetuated, it is preordained. Besides someone has to balance out the ultramarines absurd good luck.

I could be wrong, but I was always under the idea that the reason New Foundings were so rare wasn't because they were insanely expensive (which, I'm sure didn't help) but because it was so dangerous. Although each new chapter of Space Marines starts off pure and loyal, even the most pure Astartes could one day end up as an existential threat to Terra. They're drawing up new forces that could threaten the Emperor, and that's rather scary, even if they are loyal.

The fact the Cawl helped make the Sons of Antaeus does not make it any-less likely that Death Guard geneseed was used. At least in my opinion. I could see Cawl using Traitor geneseed when developing primaris.
