Jason Workman You completely missed the main point of this talk. Here’s a summary. 1) South Asian communities are heavily patriarchal so men are not held accountable for their harmful actions. 2) South Asian communities are collectivistic so women are pressured to uphold the family image/name. 3) Divorce is considered shameful, so women are TRAPPED. They can’t reveal that they’re being abused without being shunned by society, silenced by their family, and threatened by their spouse. So please enlighten me on how they could easily prevent this?
Shilpa Hampole easy, don’t mary in that society, or move to another country and find a kind man. Or be the second wife of a good man, I’m sure not every man in that country is bad. Point is you can’t let people pressure you to behave a certain way and then expect sympathy because you were too weak to do the right thing.
