Kurzgesagt is my favorite channel because while it can reach with their creativity, its all within our current understandings of the universe that we inhabit. Usually, most (if not all) the crazy things described and calculations are sourced and fact checked, so it just make you appreciate how bizarre our reality is. Personally it can help me ground myself and wonder what else there is to find and discover out there

11:00 When you realize that this black hole orbiting OJ287 is probably what remains of an entire galaxy devoured millions of years ago by the ultramassive one: 😲

TON 618 is so big the accretion disk is more than a lightyear in diameter.

think bigger.

A new black hole named phinox A was discovered and is actually bigger than TON618
@SJCS2

It's not actually the biggest yet Since it's not been confirmed on how big it truly is So ton 618 is still the biggest one

Nope it's not

@@SJCS2 PheonixA is so large, that physicists think there’s a possible anomaly.

Isn't it thought to be like 100 billion solar masses, 60 billion more than that of ton 618? I checked the Wikipedia page

Welp what is is the distance if its less than ton 618 distance welp ton 618 might be bigger if we talking about 2024

That's one of the biggest problems with looking out at space - we can never see what space looks like _today_ since it's so massive in scale with things so far away that the light we see from these things will always be light from the past. Even when we look at our own Sun from Earth, we're actually seeing it as it _was_ 8 minutes ago, since that's how long light takes to reach Earth from the Sun. It's one of the theories against the idea of interstellar travel, since how can you navigate around the stars when your maps are always hundreds, thousands or even millions of years out of date - with no real way (other than perhaps extremely advanced simulations) to update them and _keep_ the maps up-to-date. Even in our own galaxy looking across from one side to the other you are looking back up to 100,000 years in the past. So if you wanted to get to a star system on the other side, you would have to figure out exactly where it's now located in the galaxy after 100,000 years of movement. And because of speed limitations, without some form of FTL or "warp drive" there's a fair to good chance by the time you get there the star system might not exist any more - its star having already died a long time ago.

i mean the only way i could theoretically see things being practical is if along side FTL travel, we found a way to make FTL communication work (maybe through quantum entanglement? idk if that would work, quantum mechanics confuses the hell out of me), get some kind of navigation beacon far enough away through our best guesses at where the stars are, and essentially use that beacon to triangulate things from a different spot in space. then use that beacon to send off another beacon with a bit more precision. and then just repeat that over and over and over until weve got enough beacons spread out far enough that we can use them to work out where everything is, at least as best as is feasible to do. but even that has just... soooooooooo many problems with it. that requires two entire seperate technologies for one thing, not to mention the fact weve then got to manage to guess right the first time, and every time after that, even if our later attempts are more accurate due to having some information to work with. and then, once youve got all of that in place, what happens if something happens to a couple of those beacons? be it wear and tear, a malfunction or, potentially, another civilization coming across them and whether intentionally or not, breaking them, among many other possible issues.

Hey Louis. You should watch his Video on Black Hole Stars. Its only a theory, but the mathematics say its technically possible. Its one of ma y theories. But I think you'd like the video

Forget TON618. An even larger black hole was found with around 100 billion solar masses. Name "Phoenix a"

The Carzy thing is that even these Ultra Massive Blackholes are just a speck of dust when compared to the grand scale of Universe
