That’s incredible. Pretty much stripped out rusted shells ready for the crusher though since nothing can be restored. Few parts but that’s about all. Shame too because the more of these that were given a chance at resto would create new interest driving up demand driving up the rest, there is only a limited number of them out there that might need parts at this point. Sell a few.

Mopar, its like good rock music! I had my first Dodge Dart -65 modell in 1975 with 273" engine! After that -71 Challenger and one more Barracuda with strong 446" big block! Orginally the orchestra was 318" but 440" sounds much better! I did 11,3 sec on 400 m!

It must be an Alabama law preventing the sale of the shell. I know in Wyoming they send in the titles to the state IF they ever get a title, often they never even get the title to turn it in. But they will sell the entire car with a bill of sale and then you have a vin inspection and file for a title, Montana is the same but also offers a bonded title. If the body value is below 500.00 no bond is need just file it. But get the title stuff done before you put money in the car. The higher its value the higher the bond for the tittle. I suspect Stevens Performance is not correct in the interpretation of the law, but like I say it could be an Alabama Law.
@AutoArchaeology
@AutoArchaeology 7 лет назад
No, they are completely correct sadly. They have been doing it for over 40 years. Sadly once the title is turned into the state, and it shows the car being relinquished to the junkyard, that car can not ever leave.
@dancross4444
@dancross4444 7 лет назад
Auto Archaeology , well at least they will be preserved forever on your video. I checked the Alabama statute and they are not correct, it is legal for them to sell any vehicle they wish, they probably just don't want to. The salvage title fee is 15.00. here is an excerpt of the law, I will post a link below. "(g) The department is authorized to issue a salvage certificate of title for a fee of fifteen dollars ($15), on a form prescribed by the department which shall provide for assignments of this title.  The salvage certificate of title is to replace a certificate of origin or certificate of title required to be surrendered by this section.  The department shall prescribe necessary forms and procedures to comply with this subsection. (i) Every owner of a salvage or junk motor vehicle who sells or transfers the vehicle to any person shall provide at the time of the sale or transfer a properly executed assignment and warranty of title to the transferee in the space provided therefor on the salvage certificate of title or junk certificate of title or as the department prescribes.  A person who willfully violates this subsection shall, upon conviction, be guilty of a Class A misdemeanor and shall be punishable as required by law." As you can see they are permitted to sell them if they wish they just need to fill out the form prescribed in subsection (i) described above.
@dancross4444
@dancross4444 7 лет назад
here is the entire statute: Alabama Code Title 32. Motor Vehicles and Traffic. § 32-8-87 | FindLaw
@AutoArchaeology
@AutoArchaeology 7 лет назад
Unfortunately that does not apply to a vehicle that has been turned into the state as being relinquished to a junkyard. Once that happens, it is done. I've been over this a thousand times, they have been over this a thousand times. There is no way to sell cars out of the yard.

That looks like a great place for Mopar parts my question to you is how do you know if it is a 72 cuda because with out check the vin # you can't really tell 72 73 or 74 apart and you can't tell 72 and 73 apart without checking vin #. You can somewhat tell a 74 by the motor they only came with 360 HP or 318 motors but 73 came with both of those motors to so you can't really tell the 3 years apart without checking the vin #.
@AutoArchaeology
@AutoArchaeology 6 лет назад
There are a few other tell-tale signs, like 72 have the same 70-71 bumper, 73-74 have those big ugly rubber 5mph bumper things, unless someone removed them. And a few other things.

The fact he doesn’t sell whole cars means this video is worthless to the Restorer,not like there’s a huge market for parts anymore or anyone that even knows how to restore,then the owner or owners will die off and everything gets crushed Mopar city Oregon Illinois is a perfect example,more parts and no cars We are a dying breed
@tbd-1
@tbd-1 Год назад
I haven't seen much in this yard by way of parts that are worth the trouble. These cars have been picked down to the bare bones. Anything that might still be out there can likely be had aftermarket or reconditioned for the same money and less trouble. If it wasn't for Alabama's medieval salvage laws half of these cars would have been 'repurposed' by the turn of the century while they were still worth saving. Now it's just a Superfund site. A sad glimpse of broken dreams and "what if's".
