A 30 amp or 50 amp 240 volt circuit is per leg of the split phase, not added together. So, for example, a 7200 watt 240 volt generator maxes out at 30 amps for each split phase leg (3600 watts per each 120 volt leg).

@@chalemi6909 with technology dependency now days you need a clean energy source. Inverter generators provide clean stable energy otherwise you can damage expensive electronics with a regular generator.

I'm glad you told about this genmax 10500 trifuel inverter generator which even more powerful than the 9000 genmax duel fuel and I also i have an option to hook it up to my home natural gas line thanks for the review it's a little more expensive but I think it's worth it as long as it holds up over time.

remember on your amperage, you should have 50 amps per leg of 120v. those breakers are not 25 on each leg.

I recently purchased this unit and works exceptionally well other than the minute/hour meter resetting, and when i turn it off using propane. I always get a small backfire after turning off the controls in order according to the directions. The spark plug is gapped correctly, so it just may be the LP in the line. Does anyone else have this pop at the end?

Great review... As always! Do you know what the propane burn rate is per hour at say, 50% load? I am trying to anticipate fuel needs per hour/day of use in a food truck type of scenario. Thanks in advance for any insight.

GM10500iETC, with a 6.9 gallons fuel capacity can operate for around 8.1 hours at 50% load with a full tank of gasoline (fuel consumption around 0.85 GPH). When using propane, it can run for around 4 hours (estimation based on a 20 lbs tank - propane consumption around 1.18 GPH). I recommend you get a 40 pound propane tank.

Cool video Gavin! Specially that adaptor hose to the RV propane quick connect. I wonder what would happen if you start running a propane appliance like the furnace at the same time, would the generator keep running in that case?

All well and fine. They should do what you demo , but the real test is the longevity, and the c/s which for 3 weeks I have been calling and not able to speak to anyone but a girl named millisa who can’t explain my question’s answer to me but says tommy can ! but he doesn’t answer his phone or return his voice mails/ missed calls and this is all before I even drop $2400 on 1 of these units.

Hi. I am looking for a portable generator for home backup with a transfer switch. But every generator has different plugs! For my use, under 5000w peak, a 4-prong 120/240v 30amp plug is what I need. Some have RV plugs, some have the large 240 stove types.... Please explain my options. Thx!

This generator actually have the exact same plug in it before pin twist lock and it also has the 50 amp 240v. So technically, it would work for either options, 30 amp or 50 amp inlet box, and the transfer switch.

Gavin, are you using a 50amp adapter/extender to get the RV plug to sit flush in the generator? I have the Genmax GM9000iED and my RV cord hits the bottom of the panel preventing it to be inserted flush.

When using this generator on a 50 amp RV, always keep your switch selector to 240 V that way you get both leg working

Hey Robert So the difference between pump gas, propane and natural gas. 1 gallon of gasoline has 97%-100% of the energy in 1 GGE. Standard fuel is 90% gasoline, 10% ethanol. 1 gallon of propane has 73% of the energy in 1 GGE due to the lower energy density of propane. 5.37 lb. of LNG has the same energy as 1 GGE, and 6.06 lb. of LNG has the same energy as 1 DGE. Gasoline has higher energy density per gallon, than LP gas and natural gas. I use a 50 amp plug extender to get the 50amp 90° plug over the handle. It just works better.

Wow, I'm not sure what's more of a "Flex" ... the Genmax or the RV.. that's Bada$$.... I am disappointed, I Just bought the 9000IED beginning of February, because it was the biggest available but I need slightly more amperage... Now this one comes out & would actually do what I need.. but I just can't spend a couple grand more & then have no use for the 9000ied that only has less than 10hrs on it The Genmax is an Amazing machine & Very happy with it, but the timing... sigh...

@Gavin’s Garage True, but it's too new to take a loss on. The pricing of this one is a discouraging jump from the 9000ied for only 900 watts more running, so I think I'll eventually just get another 9k & parallel them for the max 50 amp output & that will allow a buffer & not max either one out, hopefully leading to longer life.
