Best 3rd shot drop instructional video I've seen discussing the variety of drops rather than just one! I'd love to see a follow up one with more demonstrations. Thank you for this. I know the amount of work that goes into it!

Love what you're saying. I encourage you to intercut you actually playing in games (showing the strokes youre teaching) way more, and editing down your talking; this was the dryest and most blandly presented version of really good tips that I've sat through in a while, and I almost didn't: your competition uses editing techniques and quick cutting that are just superior and make the content easier to digest. And their content is just as good, so... Good job with it though. I'll come back and watch your next one.

From the baseline - wouldn't the DRIP not give you enough time to get up to the kitchen? From the baseline, wouldn't one of the other three work better since it's going to give you more time? When is the DRIP drop an advantage from the base line? I get the advantage closer to the kitchen. Thanks and keep up the good work on these videos.

A drip puts your opponents on their back foot and causes them to pop the ball up, thus allowing you to swiftly go to the net and put it away. It’s a shake n bake where the drive drops at the feet of your opponent. Hopefully that helps!

One more thing on your flat drop, I noticed you kept moving forward, allowing you to get to the net. I always thought I had to be set to hit my shot and it takes me more time to get to the net. Someone today pointed out I fall back when I hit my 3rd shot drop, which is no bueno.

Could you address the best strategy for holding your paddle. I end holding in like everything will be a forehand and know I should mix it up with a backhand hold, so any pointers that can help can help make old habits die!

I hold one grip the entire time. It is eastern forehand. Once you get used to that you don’t have to worry about changing grips!

Do you have rules of thumb for which drop type to use depending on what kind of shot you're trying to return? For example, the ball coming at you might be fast or slow, deep or shallow, and bounce low or high. Obviously a slow, shallow, high ball will give you the most options, and if you're behind the baseline returning a hard drive, a flat drop is probably the safest bet. Is there more to it than that?

If it’s fast and getting behind me quick, underspin or flat. If I have time I’ll usually do topspin because I can put the most pressure on my opponents that way!

I am not. Only thing I am doing is windshield wiping with my wrist staying relatively relaxed

Hey Austin, you seem to post a vid every time I need one. I'm trying to advance beyond being a DUPR 3.25 and I practice doing flat drops using my Slinger almost every day. I just set it to put a ball near the baseline, then attempt a flat drop. If I make it, I move up to where the balls are bouncing and practice a reset. If I make that, I move up to the NVZ and practice two or three volleys. What machine drill would you recommend?

I’d recommend my new app for drills! Specifically with a machine, putting the oscillerator on and having it hit to the baseline would be great so you’re on the move and hitting drops! Www.Pickleballplaybook.app

I beg to differ, there's some crackerjack indie lessons out there. Maybe try short and sweet and not so sedative... this reminds me of watching golf on a sunday, dozing off... You go to great lengths describing to novices the sound a ball makes brushing off the paddle on a slice or topspin then finish with a lesson, the drip, they have no business wasting efforts on. Maybe target your audience, cheers
