His technique is truly unique, he gently lofts the ball over the wall, but the spin makes it comes down faster. Watch closely how he kicks the ball with a hook-like movement, making it spin diagonally downward. Just goat things.
But it really is insane. All last 8 are on target (or slightly off at one occasion), hit bar or post twice, 3 goal, saved 3.. crazy. Are u sure this is the true last 8? Not one miss by a few feet. That panama gk btw, he's clearly stressed out 😂
From an ordinary free kick taker to extraordinary free kick taker the journey is beautiful this shows the level of dedication he put on the football pitch
@@sameggebrecht7662he practiced a lot in Barca, he was always good with free kicks but good isn't good enough for him. He put in a lot of work, became arguably the best free kick taker ever, now it doesn't matter if he practices anymore.
Every free kick is on target. Almost picture perfect. And he looks like he doesn't exert much power into the ball. He hits them while he strolls, amazing...
Lionel Messi is renowned for his exceptional free-kick skills, often considered one of the best in the world. His ability to bend the ball and place it precisely into the net is truly remarkable and has led to countless memorable goals throughout his career. Whether it's the technique, spin, or sheer accuracy, Messi's free-kicks are a testament to his extraordinary talent and dedication to perfecting his craft.
Id love that, but that is 13 free kicks away, Messi scored 10 in one year as his personal best, so if he plays 3 more years he will still need about 6 a year... that's... probably not going to happen.
@@click8708 Agreed I'm fairly certain he will get another 3 that would put him on 67 the 3rd highest all time He may possibly get another 7 before he retires which would put him on 71 the second best all time. And alot of people don't realise that Messi wasn't the full time free kick taker until he was 25 in 2012. So I believe if he was taking them from 2008 he would have passed 80-85 by now.
@@matheuscampaninimughrabi5933 nahh, that's not it. Juninho was simply better than anyone, I watched him at Lyon, at some point free kicks became like penalties, French commentators would be like that's a penalty for Juninho and he would score most of the time. Messi is good but even if he manages to surpass the 77 free kicks. Juninho would still be remembered as the free kick master due to the fact that he scored free kicks from ridiculous position and made it look easy.
@@mattsavage9960freekicks is something he worked on alot. He wasn't good at them early on in his career at them like R10 for eg. But he due really well to become one of the best dead ball specialist of all time.
Thank you. I wanted to see a similar analysis for him and it does not exist. Be even nicer if this can be extended going even further back till about 2017-18 which is when he started becoming really efficient with free kicks.
Oh! So the objective of a direct free kick is to get it ON TARGET & SCORE. Looking at Cristiano, I thought a direct free kick is a chance roll up your shorts to show off your thigh muscles! Then you gotta stand with legs so wide apart, to tell everyone he has got big "footballs". And when he finally strikes the ball, he will whack it straight into the wall OR high up into the stands! And after all that. the final step is to blame something/someone.....
Absolutely unbelievable the rate at which he hits the target generally with free kicks and especially in this peculiar situation of failed trials earlier in this match
There are people who can get that placement but nowhere near the power or speed, and there are people with the power but nowhere close to the placement. The consistency of his precision and trajectory every time he takes a free kick is extraordinary. Very rarely does he shank a ball way over. I’ve had some very good free kicks when I played but for every great kick I had exponentially more shanks and balls that weren’t close.
