The 997 2 is where it's at! The DFI engine on it has super quick throttle response and pulls so hard! They have sky rocket in price but worth every penny.
Honestly the softish front end of the 997 didn't do a whole lot for me. But after having had the chance to drive one with the 6spd, that all went out the window. Such a fun pure sports driving car 🔥👌
Maintenance is not that bad on these as well, especially if you have an example without any bore score or coolant issues. Frequent replacement of the serpentine belt and thermostats are definitely a must though.
It's also the easiest car to do an oil change on. I do mine by driving the rear wheels over two 2x6 boards. You can reach the drain plug and filter without getting under the car. I also fit a whole hockey bag in the frunk.
I'm actually going to buy my first 997.2 in PDK, soon..My last 2 911's were 997.1's in Manual. I agree with this generation (the .1) you can't get auto b/c it the tiptronic, but for the .2's, I the PDK or manual are good.
Honestly, they both have their time and place. If you had to get any automatic transmission, PDK is definitely the one I'd want, by far. We recently filmed a 992 Turbo S and the PDK gearbox is right at home there. Keep an eye out for that review coming soon. Congrats on the new 911!
Great video, these do feel well under priced here in the UK. The difference between the .1 and .2 here is about double the price. I'm contemplating buying a 2006 for £25k and then taking it on a £20k 'touring' modifcation journey....
Thank you! If there's any time to get one of these 997's we feel it's now, great value and fun for the price. Your touring modification journey also sounds like something we can definitely get behind and would love to follow along with. All the best to you on that journey if you decide to go for it, We personally hope you do!
Agreed. Needs new center caps. And they need to be lined up with the tire valve stem. That little attention to detail completes the rest of the tasteful stuff that’s been done.
@@2fast2nick Yes, they are a small number, but the repair is expensive. It also happens more commonly up north. Don't get me wrong, this potential problem does not put me off, but I need a borescope to ensure the example is good. In my case, when I called the dealer, it was already sold.
@@Octane.Vision I’ve been doing my research and it seems that most ppl prefer the center muffler delete since deleting the side mufflers are too loud. So as of now I’m leaning to the shark werks exhaust. I still have made up my mind yet though.
Great car, just put the spoiler down when driving slowly! Porsche went to great lengths to keep it down for astatic reasons. Respect that. Also the PDK is great, rowing gears is overrated. Especially in a 997.
You're preaching to the choir about the spoiler. We think it's funny when people park their cars in the sport mode with the wing up! PDK is fantastic, however we really enjoyed the manual in this 997. You'll have to check back next week when we review a 992 Turbo S. Thanks for watching! 👍
Hey Andrew, you've got keen ears. That noise you're hearing is actually the optional speed warning that the owner of this car setup. It's hard to stay under the limit in a car like this :) Thanks for watching!
I bring a silk handkerchief to wipe the gas nozzle before it can drip and dirty the car. I then throw away the handkerchief. I joke! That's ridiculous. My butler does that!
Own a 2006 Boxster S and can confirm the doors are solid. The worst part about them is how long the doors are. Even if you park 3 feet away from the next car you still risk dinging them just to get out. They are absurd.
