*The Last Airbender* makes NO SENSE when you're drunk or high... 

The only thing they ate in this was princess Yuè's wig. Like what lace. She ate that. Also, fun little fact is that her actress voices Asami in legend of Korra and her dad voiced by Daniel Dai Kim ( aka the new firelord). Like WOWWWWWW

1:29 fun fact: in the originals intro they use actual Chinese characters that represent the 4 elements, in this movie they are literally gibberish, they wanted them to seem more “ethnic”but just completely disrespected the actual language and culture. That’s also why the characters pronounce the names the way they do,because again the film makers wanted them to seem “ethnic” even though literally almost every single characters name comes from multiple different languages that relates to their character eg Suki meaning moon in Japanese (which is a nod to yue as her name means moon in Chinese) and Bumi meaning earth in Hindi.

They were going to make the second movie and in an interview M. Night Shyamalan said they were going to introduce Toph's character only her name wouldnt be Toph and she wouldn't be blind. Oh I lost it! I beg your unbelievable goddamn pardon?!

Benji: "That's not Ong." Me: "Well then, I don't know who that is, because that sure as hell isn't Aang."

Benji's rant is completely justified because he's totally right like its seems like the CGI animators didnt use the show as a reference for how the elements moved with the benders as an extension of themselves, its like the movie makers thought "make the actors do martial arts, and the make the element effect happen. It makes it feel like there is this huge disconnect between the bender and the elements and makes its looks completely unnatural. It makes the ability to extension disbelief like you are supposed to do in a movie extremely hard.

I've watched countless reactions to this disaster of a movie over the years... but Rizzo is literally the only person who seemed to actually enjoy parts of it.

I was also so excited to see this movie, as me two of my friends and I were HUGE fans of the show and couldn't wait to see it on the big screen and get more attention. We bought midnight premiere tickets for the three of us, my mom, and one of my friend's dads, who was also a fan of the show. We got to the theater super early because we expected to need to wait in a line for our seats, but when we got there, we found out we could choose our seats and now had several hours to kill. We ended up watching the only available movie, Twilight: Eclipse, then we went to a restaurant and got dinner, then finally headed to the theater, still slightly early. The three of us were kind of nervous because we were in 6th or 7th grade at the time and most of the rest of the people were older high school students. But then we all got to nerding out about the show and it made us feel super cool and accepted and we were all hyping each other up for the movie, talking about what we hoped to see and what could come up in sequels, etc. I honestly don't remember any of my thoughts or feelings while watching the movie. All I remember is the lead-up, then when the screen went black and the credits started, the theater was silent for a full 30-60 seconds, then this one guy who was maybe 17-20 years old sitting a few seats down in our row stood up and loudly said, "What the FUCK?" He received a standing ovation and we were all talking and grumbling and upset as we left the theater. Then when I texted my friends the next day to check in with them, I found out that they, like my mom and I, also got food poisoning. At least it makes for a good story now.

31:27 that really bothered me too 😅 the og show managed to write a protagonist who refuses to kill people, and it DIDNT annoy the crap out of me. which is truly impressive lmao because it's one of my least favourite tropes. but they actually did such a great job of making aang's moral position make sense! he's the last person keeping his culture alive and if he crosses that line it would be a betrayal of everything they taught him, and on top of that, like. he's a child? and the show never forgets that. he's just a kid doing his best and everyone is telling him he has to go murder a dude for the greater good. but then the movie throws in that line which is not at all true and weirdly undermines what was originally a super compelling conflict. tho apparently shyamalan did not watch season 3 of the cartoon before making this movie, which honestly kind of explains some of his writing choices.

The fact that they move so much before any kind of bending happens makes watching the action scenes so weird. You ACTIVELY wait for something to happen so it takes you out of the movie AND you wonder why the enemy is waiting instead of just striking while Aang is just dancing for a full twenty seconds in front of them.

Kudos to you Rizzo for shouting out the score! James Newton Howard's score for this film is unquestionably the only good thing about this movie! Goes into the list of great scores written for crap movies!

Apparently the reason all the water benders are white is because the actress for Katara was cast first out of nepotism. Pretty much the same for the fire benders as well. Dev Patel was the first one to be cast so all of the firebenders were made south asian.

I'm only liking this bc the sarcastic comments and editing are top notch. I remember watching this when it came to Netflix... And I wish I had been as high as Rizzo is now

I feel for Rizzo getting too high and anxious. That's how I am too. I used to have a good relationship with it, but not anymore. It's funny, I haven't been watching the channel for long, but of the episodes where y'all get high, it always looked like he was really comfortable with it. I'm impressed with his ability to keep his shit together. 😂

Dev Patel is actually a martial artist from a pretty young age, if I recall. I know he demonstrated some of it on the show "Skins." (I always thought he would have been an excellent Sokka. He was very much a joker on Skins. Of course then Shyamalan decided for some reason to make South Asians and Maori evil? For some reason???!)

i love how every hollywood remake is like "we have to get rid of this character's sexism, and we're going to do that by making the female character have 0 personality and impact" and they go hell yea

the only good thing this movie did for the avatar fandom was giving us seychelle gabriel (princess yue) who actually loved the animated show and went on to voice asami in the leyend of korra!♥

Whoever choreographed the bending in this movie must've gotten some note of "these people fight with elemental magic" and thought, oh so it needs to look like they're "summoning" or "building energy" through their bodies before they do anything significant. When nah, in the cartoon it's literally just martial arts (REAL, easily referenced styles of martial arts) but with extra effects added so that there's no fear of parents or executives getting too worried about the show being violent. The bending in this film just confines everyone to like 1 square foot of movement as if they're on some tiny stage 😂

I was so hyped for this movie...I'm pretty sure we went the first weekend it came out. My nephew introduced me to Avatar and I fell in love with the show. So we went to go see it when it came out. The moment Katara mispronounced Aang's name and then Sokka....I about screamed and was like this is going to be horrible. My got about another 20 minutes before he started pointing out the cultural differences with these characters!! I haven't watched the new series yet...I don't know the animated cartoon was amazing and I don't want to be disappointed and it also looks really good.

The new TV series is not great. They take away Aang's playfulness. They take away Katara's righteous fury, they take away Sokka's sexism but therefore take away moments that make him grow and learn. Suki is no more than a female character around Sokka to lift him up... Instead of being her own independent and powerful character. Instead of Bumi being a wise and humorous old man he is now an angry, bitter grouchy one. They also seem to mix story lines and episodes together without properly stitching them. EDIT*** Oh and the CGI is God awfully laughable at times. And the exposition is used in vast majorities in the live action TV series. They love to tell you how characters feel and who they are instead of showing you. Zuko is portrayed properly at least.

I agree that the show isn’t great but I don’t think it’s horrible either, there is room for improvement but i enjoyed watching it. I think they are trying new things with the live action that definitely are different from the anime but it still flows well. Katara doesn’t start off by being angry or anything like that but throughout the show you can see how she becomes more confident in herself and doesn’t let people push her down. Many fans were mad that she was more “timid” or more of a pushover with sokka but I didn’t mind it since later on in the show she begins to speak up for herself. In the end she becomes more like the katara from the show. Also yes aang in the anime was more playful but you have to realize that the anime was mainly aimed towards kids while the live action is more for fans that are grown now. It makes more sense, at least from an adults perspective, that a 12 yd kid would be too focused on all the responsibility and the guilt he feels than being playful. Also he is playful in the live action just not as much as the anime. He is feeling guilt for slightly different reasons than in the anime but it’s still guilt and it’s something that he has to grow from. People have to realize that it’s not that easy to make an anime exactly the same as a live action because it would probably be cringy. I can’t imagine actual people make the faces or jokes that the animation did without cringing a little. It’s fine if you don’t like the live action but for me it was pretty good and I’m hoping that they improve a few things in the next seasons. Lastly, I may be weird but I’m the type of person that actually wants something different from adaptations. I like when they keep main points the same or iconic parts but if I wanted something exactly like the original, I would just watch the original one.

There’s truly nothing good about this movie. Like, not only does it completely bastardize the source material, but it also is just a bad movie. The acting, the amount of voice over to explain story, the completely different tonal shifts within a single scene, and the bending action is all simply terrible.
