Because they Healthy babies with Healthy mothers! That's what happens when they receive proper quantities of nutrition through proper decent foods. That clip of skinny from 2018 is prime example of the conditions of the mothers and babies in the trroops back in 2018 when all they had to eat and depended upon was whatever natural foods they could find to eat in the forest, which was low quality and insufficient in both quality and quantity since the transfer of Hong Kong back to the Communist Chinese Party Government in 1997. COVID Pandemic had a beneficial change for the monkeys and their health due to the increase in food and increase in the numbers of deliveries from the Regular feeders.The streets, roads and landscape infrastructure maintenance has gone to cheap Chinese concrete patchwork crap as well and due to 2 1/2 decades of this incompetence, mismanagement and neglect the Park is well on the way to serious collapse and destruction.

How would monkeys from Bossy’s troop know what’s going on in another troop like Fleur’s? I would think they’d need to know something about the troop before wanting to join it. Is it typical for female monkeys to move to another troop and not bring their youngest with them? What do you mean that Skull Head’s troop is split into smaller groups? Does each group have a different alpha and matriarch?

@@jamiemulcahey6089 It's not typical for a female Rhesus macaque to leave her natal troop but it's known to happen sometimes and it's safer for a kid to stay in their natal troop. The reason to why they leave is nothing I've found in any study so far they only mention that it do happen but far from often. I would guess a situation and the circumstances Vivy ended up with could get a female to leave or maybe even get ousted. If this happened I hope Spotty is with her. They've been friends since they were kids. I don't want either of them to be dead. So, all this could be a crazy way of for me to create a hope for them for my own sake. I'm convinced they know the most things happening around them. They can hear other troop members vocalisations and they can see structural changes. They can also see how the other troops act inside the troops and how united or confidence they're against other troops while meeting them. All mega troops are split into smaller groups/units. We've seen how ones of those groups was made from the car parking troop. The group called Ameia's clan by JW. A few years ago Skull head's troop was the biggest with 400-600 members. I think one or more of the other super troops; Jubilees, Nullah's and car parking troop have passed Skull head's in size today. When we see one of these big troops we don't see 500 monkeys we see a fraction of the troop. JW said that Skull heads troop was split into six or seven smaller groups/units. Often we see the central group where the alpha belongs to. These groups join forces if needed to. I guess it's during these joined forces we really can see which troop everyone belongs too. A group do have a female and a male at the top and I guess they run these groups after a model they know with an alpha female and her matrilineal in the centre with one or more male alphas. 🤓🇸🇪

@@ML_SE it makes sense that Vivy might be safer in another troop. Maybe they started coming after her after Ridgy was gone. I only follow AM so I’m not familiar with Car Park troop and Amelia’s group. I’d love to see Vivy and Spotty living happily in another troop.

@@kimberlygarrish205 it's swings and roundabouts, nora was downright cruel for the first few weeks, which is why so many of her babies didn't make it, but then she 'switched' into a loving, protective mother. Celessa alternates, always answers Cecils cries but seems to need to copy Noras antics. No sign of the 'switch' so far. 🤷

@@Shakycrafter8406 I seriously have no idea what you are talking about "swings and roundabouts". My comment stated this was a learned behavior from Nora and give Celessa some credit because she isn't as harsh as Nora is. Yes, I am completely aware as to how Nora is with her newborns and if the babies make it past the first 2-3 weeks then Nora seems to go into the protective mode and takes care of the babies as she should.

Arroz Marisco is another one of his channels that go back to 2016. It’s fun to go back and watch the monkeys when they were tiny babies, like Dopey. He sure lived up to his name.

Not all of us women are “well endowed”. LOL. You could be right, they are really short.

Her teats are smaller because Cecil is her first baby. Most young adult females who have only nursed one infant monkey, their teats are smaller and are a lot higher up on the chest than say a female who has had 5 baby monkeys. Give her a couple more years and a couple more newborns nursing and her nips will look like the rest. You can usually tell how many babies they have had and the age of mom by looking at their teats. The more babies they rear, the longer and stretchier they become and also become more bright red in color.

She’s so young and with her first baby, her teats have to be “broken” in. All moms/fertile females start out with small short teats until the baby monkeys stretch them out and break them in. I’ve seen especially in the pigtail moms where theirs will bleed with their first few baby monkeys. I’m sure they get pretty sore with how rough and how long infant monkeys suck constantly on them. Makes me feel bad for mom because I know how bad I hurt with both my babies. It’s really painful in the beginning. I couldn’t imagine the pain being all day and all night long because they get no breaks.

I thought Neal was her brother and they shared the same mom, the matriarch Nora? I’ve read a few articles that state studies show that these particular breed will not interbreed like most humans won’t. I guess it’s possible because I could of swore Neal was her older brother.

The forest of Angkor is what we described as sterile.These monkeys you have been watching on their channels have a relatively short history as most of them are descendants of abandoned LTs and PTs over the last 30-40 years and they don't behave exactly like wild monkeys, and in particular their mothering behaviour and instinct have been tainted by their traumatic experience as infants being kept mostly in solitary confinement.Those first generation released pets never had a proper role model to learn from and they themselves become a poor model for any subsequent generations. In a way, they have lost their " culture " and their presence, through interbreeding, is detrimental to the existence of what little population of truly wild monkeys left there

@@judiththompson2423 Hi, I don't know much more than the following (which I've learned from taking my own notes based mostly on AM's videos since 2019): Neal and Neil are brothers whom I believe have been called current "co-alphas" of Nora's troop. As far I know, they are not related to Nora, but someone else will have to verify that. Maybe AM or others can point us to a link for the accepted geneologies of these troops?

Right? I’ve already wrote several comments asking this same thing on 2 different videos now. I always thought that they were brother and sister too through the matriarch Nora. Neal made himself, appointed himself alpha. One of Nora’s other sons did too…can’t remember his name but I’ve read a few articles that claim this particular kind of monkey does not interbred, but I guess it probably does still happen though.

Haven't seen much of her yet. If she is still fertile, then probably. Matriarch usually give birth every year until menopause.
