I couldn't stop smiling during this. Johnny & Baby forever. I miss Patrick and I miss Jen's cute nose. I'm having so much nostalgia right now, and I wasn't even alive when DD came out.
I had just moved with my family to another state. All our furniture hadn't been delivered yet. Outside the development there was a movie theater and they were playing Dirty Dancing. I decided to walk down to the theater because my husband had the one car for work. So I watched the film on a big screen and loved it. ❤ That's really the only way to appreciate a great film. Not on a television but in a nice big theater with other people all around you.

Ryuichi won against arguably the greatest composers in modern cinematography, and John Williams was there twice. Goes to show the calibre of an artist he is, what a fantastic soundtrack did they produce
Cinematography is different from score composing. Just like the instrumental of "(I've Had) The Time of My Life" that introduced Patrick Swayze & Jennifer Grey was an example of a memorable song, NOT "score" as the teleprompter told them to say. (Edit: Indeed, it won Original Song at the very same ceremony.)
Hate is a strong word. They reportedly did not get along during the making of RED DAWN, but by the time they made DIRTY DANCING three years later, they had patched things up. At any rate, there was no tension on the set of DD. Both were professionals and courteous with each other and enjoyed working together, which can be seen in the behind-the-scenes footage. At worst, Patrick, a perfectionist, would get annoyed if Jennifer goofed off too much, which is evident in the "Hungry Eyes" segment. The director liked it and decided to keep it in, because it also displayed Johnny's frustration with Baby.
I felt surprised and moved when Cong Su spoke Chinese at the Oscar awards. Together with Ryuichi Sakamoto, David Byrne, they made Last Emperor a timeless classic.
What really surprised me (pleasantly) was the fact that this is the David Byrne of the Talking Heads doing The Last Emperors musical score. As a kid I loved Talking Heads and The Last Emperor movie. Had I not seen this awarding clip, I would thought that it is just a namesake David Byrne

Veronika Bolocka - I don't understand how Patrick Swayze could have been married to his wife for so long without considering having children. I don't understand that. Too bad because at lease she would have had a small part of him through their children. Sad - even towards the end of his life he wished he had children.. Sometimes I think it is a bit selfish of those not to want to include kids in their marriage with their spouse.
Shane Folan I think they couldn't indeed! I think they had one, but she miscarriage at the end. Also let's not forget that Patrick was a heavy drinker in his young age, and that didn't help the whole situation one damn bit! There were health issues over here as well...not just matter of will.
I honestly don't think so! Indeed, they matched perfectly on screen in this sort of "cool boy vs. innocent girl-combination", but in real life I'd consider them to be too conflicting. I don't wanna destroy you're romantic idea, though its said that behind the scenes Swayze must have been terribly hacked off with Jennifer's "spoilt upperclass girl behavior" since the first time they'd worked together on Red Dawn. And most importantly, Patrick and his wife Lisa had the greatest love story until the end. He must have fallen for her the first time they were dancing together and many times again when they danced later! It wasn't always the easy kinda marriage with all his drinking and stuff, but in the end Patrick Swayze must have been a remarkably thankfull and faithful husband. So however, I'm sorry, I don't see that and why Johnny and Baby would have worked well in real life!
Патрик Суэйзи, актер из золотого века кино. Очень жаль что так мало прожил , мог бы ещё много прекрасных ролей сыграть. Правильно сказать прожить, т к на сцене и в кино он не играл , а проживал. Он останется для всего мира_ легендой.

Wow Patrick and jen had a beautiful chemistry even though the differences intervened one he was happily married to his beautiful wife lisa. But in another life these two would have been together happy.
The Last Emperor... my favorite movie of all time. I wish I had gotten to see David Byrne and the Talking Heads in concert. At least Sakamoto is still touring, but he comes to the US so rarely. Maybe someday.
