The final remaining "Bruce" shark from JAWS (1975) has withstood the test of time from being a photo op prop at Universal Studios, to being wedged between palm trees as a junkyard's mascot. Master of Special Effects, Greg Nicotero (The Walking Dead) has been put up to the task of restoring the last "Bruce" mold in existence.

I’m glad they put it in a place where it’s out of reach from idiots who could break it.

I remember hearing about the shark in a auto yard and being upset with Spielberg for letting it just rot away. That shark gave him a career. I'm glad it's getting the respect it deserves.

I'm so glad they didn't leave such an iconic piece of cinema history to rot away. He looks great!

It's sort of surprising how little concern or respect for the props, costumes, sets & memorabilia the studios have had over the decades. They really just move right on along to the current productions and either reuse/repurpose or trash the items. I remember seeing a carriage (or what was left of it) that had been used in "Gone with the Wind" at Universal Studios Florida. It was sitting out in the sun. It rained that day. With it being Florida, you know it rains frequently there. I couldn't believe they just had it and all these other items outside deteriorating. That was 1992, so I'm sure it's destroyed by now. There wasn't much of it left back then to where you had to be told not just what movie it was used in, but what it was supposed to be all together.

@@TheIndependentLens Kind of like the ship from the Goonies. The set was a masterpiece, they built an entire ship for the final act and not one studio or museum wanted it, so they tore it down and scrapped it. Some of the best props and sets are simply gone forever.

Huge mistake putting it up in the air. People will want to have their picture taken with it. Also those three smaller Bruces are the handy work of a company called Bruce Shark UK. Thought they deserved credit seeing as their models featured in this video.

How stupid to put it up in the air

I suspect it came into possession by the junk yard guy because it might have been stored away by the studio in a trailer and was forgotten. And when a number of rotting trailers were sold contents and all to a junk yard, he ended up finding treasures inside of them.

It doesn’t look right. Something is off when compared to the sharks in the original film.

I was thinking the same. I don't think the size matches up to Bruce in JAWS. Otherwise its damn good replica

Its missing the rubber and latex. This is the actual mold from "Jaws", but not the final form. They just dressed up the mold
@lutherheggs451
@lutherheggs451 3 года назад
@@smithfan22 Because they would have to be stupid to use latex for something that is going to be displayed....Have you seen the original Michael Myers mask from Halloween, it looks god awful after 40 years of rot. Your not preserving rubber latex, so it makes total sense they would use materials that wouldn't rot

The junkyard where the shark was found, happens to be in the same LA neighborhood as the production facility where the sharks were made, Sun Valley, CA. The area is primarily industrial and working class. It’s technically in the LA city limits. It is located in the San Fernando Valley, famous for its “Valley girl“ culture. Singer Porsches, -is also- used to be located there.

If Im understanding this correctly, THIS JAWS , was not used in the movie , but made for the Universal Studios lot , am I correct ? There's a Jaws hanging in Universal Studios Florida. Was that one made from the original mold also ?

If I were to go to that place I will pay my respects to Steven Spielberg for making a true summer blockbuster that is a work of art except for the sequels the dancing but I still have to give credit to them jaws the revenge was my favorite. If anyone else sees this please don’t hate me for saying Jaws the revenge is my favorite
