She's not in the books nearly as much as she is in the show. In the show, she's a combination of book Hild and book Athelflaed.

I love abbess Hild too , she wasn't shy of cutting the Viking head off after they tried killing uhtred, just to " get used yo doing it "... lol Guthrum was genuinely fascinated by Christianity, the things Christians died for rather than turn from their God , he probably adopted the God and added to hic others , as Vikings Saxons and before them thd Romans did the same, They had religious tolerance as long as it didn't cause trouble. The reason Rome has problems with jews & Christians was because they continuously told the Roman priests Roman gods were false gods and the Christian God was the only legitimate God. ⚒⚔⚒⚔

Yes, Guthrum after his christian baptism was called Athelstan, King of East Anglia. Not the priest from Vikings. It was a common saxon name. Btw, King Alfred was his godfther. 😁 So, they made peace during this time. Also half of Mercia (that was still under The Danelaw).

I love this series, thrilled you are doing reactions to it. In the books Uhtred and Hild did have a short romance but like the show, it wasn't serious and neither one thought it was more than two people needing each other at that moment, they do remain friends in the books too.

And the bearded guy with the "pointed" stuff in his face who is at the slave market and with Sven's men, he is one of the three danish kings Ubbe is talking to in "Vikings" where he has the duel. So funny to see other actors crossing these shows :D I can't wait for you dive deeper into the show man!

Heastan the disloyal and terrible friend. I think Dagfinn was a better friend and loyal in season 2, but not many lines,and somehow i think he and Erik, had good friend chemestry as did Uthred,....I like guhtred too, he was different

Greetings from Washington, DC. I'm new to your channel and The Last Kingdom. I ❤ this series. David Dawson and Alexander Dreymon are my favorite primary characters. I'm also a Game of Thrones fan and King Guthred initially reminded me of Ramsey Bolton, he had that crazy look in his eyes🤣. Of course later we learned he's a weak turd. What he did to Uhtred, selling him into slavery was unforgivable. I'm surprised Uhtred didn't kill Guthred.

I thought history stated cuthbert was hung drawn and quartered and the body parts sent to different ends of the county and was named a saint long after his death so I’m guessing that’s not cuthbert in the coffin.
