I am quite impressed by the houses, castles and towns shown in the series, including details like people dressed accordingly, animals, tools and others.
One small detail I find brilliant is that they decided that Alfred's Palace in Winchester would be a re-used Roman villa, totally believable it's not that long since the Romans left. You can see the Roman architecture of the semi-circular arches, the wall plaster too but the detail I like is they used Roman sized bricks, which are flatter and longer than bricks used today.
@@PHDarrenRoman maps of Winchester actually shows that the Roman Villas and other buildings were intact up until the Norman-era so this is actually accurate.
00:38 makes total sense to have all the main locations in one set, ease of filming and makes it all look bigger with good camera angles before any CGI is used.
