I loved the show but the costumes are sometimes very. TOOOO MUCH LEATHER ARMOR. The danes (vikings) don 't look like danes the Scots do look like danes but i don 't know if in this period the picts still where there beceuse if it is then they should be naked and have blue paint on them. The wessex huscarl have 13 century armor for some reason and that shield that also the welsh used where very inacurate but still cool tho i gota admit the only authentic armor is the mercians and they look gorgius. And in the first and second season the armor of the fyrd looks good tho
@@pascalenimue1392 it still could have been better that would not make a lot of diference. I don 't care if they portray a faction army with one colour but atleast they could have made them look authentic.
@@goodcomrade2949 for me it is ok. If was a docu than it had to be totally correct. The storyline doesn't follow history either😉 Relax and just enjoy ❤️
One of the reasons why I find the show credible and not too dull is costumes. I just thought that you would be the same age as Penny Rose or other older women in the business. Great job, I am sure it's challenging to be on the top of such production. Carry ON :D
You are very blessed to have such talent. Do you design and sew your own clothes too? I would if I could. Love the show and all the talent that goes into making it.
I could've become a costume or set designer myself, since I studied it for one year after high school. I ended up going to uni and doing something else though, but I will always have an interest in it!
The make up, costumes are so real looking from the sweaty, dirty clothes to the dirty fingernails, the blood, the scars. Just awesome. You guys do an amazing, authentic looking job. The work afterwards...the cleaning and washing of the outfits. I was wondering about the weight of the chain armour. This video makes me more of a fan.
@Luca Picchio i do know vikings, i even know ones who live like this now. But i don't know everything about them. Not an historian here😉 and no, no sarcasm here, just a normal question
It would be AWESOME that the brother of Sygtryggr wore chain mail with a bear tunic to show how a threat, a menace and fearful warrior he is. And in a scene showing the utility of his armor against a saxon warrior and smashing his head in turn or something near like it. Always sort of following the books of course xd
I loved the costumes. But starting from Season 3 Uhtred costume & makeup don't look anything from that time. They don't look old and they were too clean. It didn't sell the story well from that point. I am still a big fan of the show
you would have saved a lot of money by you know using historical kit getting rid of the stupid fur and leather, and there plenty of evidence to show what they were wearing at the time i mean if you got to create extra work to justify your budget go a head. then again you could go to the next jorvik festival see guys fights in full chain mail you know the heavy stuff and they wear that all day and march across the town.
I am not kidding or being a hater, but seriously this show has the worst looking costumes/armors ever. Some clothes in season 1 were nice. And armors from season 3. But really you get paid for this? Least you could do is google what people during this period actually looked like . And what makes sense logically. Abysmal job effort. Honestly.
Now we know who to blame for all of the silly armour and helmets or lack there of. The use of un worked fur as clothing and the dumb biker gear the vikings wear.
@@gunslingingbird74 Nope not a douchebag, its called criticism, the costumes on the show are one of the worst parts. If you don't criticise you don't improve. We don't have much to go on but we do have stuff, we have weapons and armour anr a basic idea of what clothing materials were available. For instance we know they didn't wear unworked fur on the outside. You want to stay warm you line the inside of your clothes with fur. The helmets look like stuff from a kids toy shop, there are beautiful and quite cool looking helmets from that period in museums. So my sensitive friend sitting there mindlessly consuming media might be what you do. There are people out there who want to see our tv shows and films improve now we have the ability and knowledge to improve them. A start would be getting the costumes a little historical if not period accurate. Having not much to go on is not an excuse for making silly bits of leather looking plastic and sticking it all over the characters.
Costume design is weakest aspect of the show imo. Especially armor is bad. High time to get rid of leather fetish and lack of helmets. Read the original books. Source material has a lot of details of armor and clothing. Purple colorcoded welsh also meh.
