I am not Jewish. I am not a woman. I am not a liberal. I am not gay or lesbian. According to the leftist academics, I would not align with Bari in any way. But this is the failure of their views. I share her commitment to freedom. I share Bari’s ideas and ideals. And I share her love for consistency in the application of those freedoms and ideas. While I think it’s ironic, that a gay married lesbian liberal mother is the one making these points, in my heart none of that matters. It’s about the words not the identity of the person who says them. I pray that she will continue to have the strength to lead this movement.
Same here. I am trump supporting Republican who follows and respects Bari for her views. I subscribe to her podcast and find her to always be fair and respectful in her opinions even if I don’t always agree.
just hope she and others like her vote red this time even if it is Trump(or whatever other republican wins the primary though it will likely be Trump), only way to resolve this issue
This is one of the best speeches I have heard in the last twenty years. This woman is one of the real journalists who brings the truth to her readers. She has courage and people like her give me hope for the future.
Leaves out that Israel orchestrated a long standing game of funding Hamas and putting them in power, to use their violence as cover to commit this genocide against Palestinians. They never thought Hamas would bite them back this badly.
Getting run out of the NYT is the best thing that ever happened to her. Now she’s her own media empire and she’s actually doing good in the world, unlike the chicken sh!t NYT. She’s got guts, talent, fortitude, and she works her butt off. That’s as American as it gets.
its based on lies - i have grand kids and deception continues ,. this here is same we need a public press not corporate owned press please help me to create a free press
Here's the header I wrote in a mass-forwarding of Bari's Free Press email about this speech (linking to it): If you never read an email that I’ve sent or never have in the past watched or listened to anything I’ve recommended, make an exception. Please. This one is 38 minutes of your life, and worth every precious second. Pay attention. Bari Weiss has something important for you, and every American.
Tears are rolling down my cheeks, because Bari said each and every thing that I have been feeling sad and alarmed about and wishing someone would voice loudly and unapologetically. She said a lot more than that, all the words that I needed to hear. I am not Jewish. I am an American and she said what I believe about America. I am HUMAN and I stand for humanity and resist barbarism.
My family is from India. My dad fought and BLED so we could have the life that we do. You're DAMN RIGHT i wanna save this country from these woke morons.
I am a conservative Canadian and share your sentiments thoroughly. The embrace of Islam by radical alt-left progressives in western societies is dumbfounding. The tide is turning on the Liberals. Voters can only ignore the obvious for so long.
It's odd how sometimes when something bad happens and it rebounds to a better result. The world is blessed to have Bari Weiss independent from the New York Times. Her light shines brilliantly.
The NYT threw her out because of her moral and intellectual clarity. The decolonizer mob there harassed her to exit. The NYT is filled with woke mind destructive cancer.
I grew up in rural Colorado, presumably very little in upbringing or background. I first started following Bari when she stood up to the New York Times - have not stopped. She's smart, strong and independent. I learn from her not because of those things however, but because she is honorable. Amazing woman. Thank you Bari.
She's an American citizen standing up for what she believes in. One of the few these days who says what she means and means what she says without first consulting to see what the academic left's position is. How these geniuses that everyone turns to for wisdom fail to recognize the Jewish people as oppressed in the middle east completely destroys any credibility they might have. Same goes for the climate change crisis. They are lying to push for the institution of totalitarian government rule. It's that simple and that obvious.
Chris Hedges stood up to the New York Times long before she did. He was against the Iraq war back when it was unpopular (and which Weiss supported), and lost his job over it. If you like brave journalists who stand up to the Times, you might want to start with him.
Bari Weiss is the right person at the right time who can inspire all of us who believe in the fundamental goodness of America. Our freedom is a precious thing worth saving, no matter one's politics, race, gender or religion. Thank you, Bari, for reminding us that our work as citizens of this great country is never done.
It’s too late for that because of the 25,000,000 illegals who flooded in here in addition to many other things. Just enjoy the time you have left and love your family.
Beautiful job, Bari! I am so very proud of you! Franciscan University in Ohio is also offering expedited transfers for all Jewish students who are under attack. They can finish their degrees in peace and safety with their religion being respected and honored
These words are exactly what have been churning inside me for weeks, but could not say them eloquently. Thank you, Bari, for speaking the truth out loud for all to hear. 👏👏👏
It is people like Bari with the clarity of vision and gift of communication that the U.S. is so very lucky to have. This was a brilliant speech and should be seen by every American. The nation's founders would be proud to see that their spirit is still alive.
I spoke with my 84 year old mom in law about this today....she wept, at the rise of antisemitism, and asked...."have we learned NOTHING, from the great wars that were fought???" Her sadness was heartbreaking.
@@kermitfrog593 I would suppose she was against the jailors, Hamas. All of Hamas and all the Palestinian refugee camps outside Israel's borders have been in Israel's power for decades. If Israel's intent was genocidal, all the Palestinians would be dead. Pull your head out of your ass.
You’re amazing! I share all your podcasts with all my non-Jewish friends and I like to think that through you I have educated and opened their eyes. Thank you ❤️
There has rarely been a more clear example of right and wrong, good and evil. The people supporting evil are showing us exactly who they are and we should all take note.
Better late than never. She used to preach the opposite because she thought all humans were equal and were all Gods little children, until your best friends head explodes from an RPG and his brain splatter all over your face. Most of these intellectual speakers view their beliefs through a political lense than physically experiencing the world and what’s it’s really like. Facts don’t care about your feelings.
@@MrChuckwagon55 really ?? It was my take that Berry like the old democrats understood that israel is fighting against Islamic terrorism that can’t accept a Jewish state in the Middle East
True, but this is all afterwards. She should have seen this coming and not being such an idealistic bleeding heart liberal who doesn’t understand how evil man is. That’s why combat veterans view life totally differently than civilians with easy lives who live in a bubble. The rest of the world is a very different place than living in the United States. The horrors and evil of war will totally change you as a person, which isn’t always a bad thing.
Look at the destruction of morality in America and you can see that perhaps, not as Khrushchev envisioned, but it has happened. Also it is quite telling that this speech imploring us to defend our most cherished values is delivered by a woman who created a child, with an intentional plan to deny that child a father. Great speech, nonetheless. We are all flawed.
Nothing can hit all of us as more clear as Bari Weiss' words. So truthful and for sure a wake up call for any American who has a moral compass and is for good and justice. Thank you,Bari.
What a phenomenal speech! I applaud 👏👏 her for stating with who she is and what she is and then give the mind bowing, inspirational speech that she did, well done!
Great speech, everyone should hear it. My girlfriend heard me playing it and said she enjoyed it, David French played this whole speech as an episode of his podcast! I'm gonna be cringe and send it to my friends/family, we need stuff like this.
One of the most poignant, profound and important speeches I've heard in a long time. I'm so thankful for Bari's courage and willingness to speak to these important topics.
I'm not jewish, but my closest friends, most of my clients are. I study the kabbalah with a rabbi and i don't have a community and moved away from mine to go to college. I was welcomed into a very tight knight jewish group of friends that have been the most supportive and amazing friends one could ask for. One of my closest friends is a doctor that just got back from Israel and has literally done everything in his power to make my life better especially over the last 3 years. I wouldn't be here now without the jewish people and the love and unconditional love I've gotten from the jewish people. I will not be silent, i will stand in front of whatever violence comes and I'm sure it will, I'll give my life to defend those that i care about for the jewish people represent truth, hope, humanity. I debate subjects openly that Christians and Muslims would austracize me for and i love to debate. The jewish people have been my home and community when I'm 12 hours away from mine. I never found that Christianity spoke to me, i don't buy into fear and I'm a creative that my mind focuses on building, creating and being excited for the future. That's why i will stand with my jewish brothers and sisters to the end no matter what end that is. I don't want to live in a world that doesn't have jewish people in it and I'll fight to the death to make sure that doesn't happen as my grandfather did and that he made me promise. That if i should encounter the same evil he fought and saw when liberating the camps it was my responsibility to him and to everything that is good in this world that no matter how afraid i was, no matter if i was the only to stand up in the face of that evil that i had to do it, i have and will continue to do so. I love all of you and we will not let the past be the future. chazak v'amatz
You are doing the right thing. You are a role Model for other to learn May the LORD GOD of ISRAEL bless you.AMEN I am 63 years old, I am a Road Contractor for the past 43 years still struggling to get jobs because corruption and other issues. in my country Malaysia the government never condemned hamas for the wrong deeds done.
Really good speech. Watching Bari’s growth over the last few years has been inspiring. I respect her so much for being willing to take all the negativity she gets on social media, because I don’t think I could do it.
Brilliant speech I want my university age kids to see and understand what is at stake. And the fact that she like Matt Taibi is/ was more left leaning, gives it added weight because she realises that the centre keeps both left and right in check but things are badly squewed towards far left and the very society we live in is in dire peril because of it. A truly mesmerising oration.
I pray that this clarity lasts beyond the next few news cycles. Many of the people who saw the hard reality of the world on 9/11 slid back to their former habits within the next couple election cycles. It is going to take a sustained effort and sacrifice to overcome the mind poison that has taken hold of Universities in America.
Bari and the Federalist Society are doing exactly what needs to be done. Have open and honest dialogue even when the politics of the day don’t align. We have become too siloed, and this is exactly how we come back together as a nation, as a society, and as human beings. We have to be willing to listen to each other, and find common ground. Brava Brava!! ❤
I fully agree but we are no where near coming together and finding common ground I fear, especailly now as profound anti-semitism spreads like cancer. Anti-semitim, as Bari eluded to, is a sympotom of a country in crisis. Something is wrong, broken and sick in America. Being Jewish I've always known this intellectually, but never in my many years on earth did I ever think I would witness it the way I have in these United States in 2023. I am literally gobsmacked but not in the least surprised to see the racist hate and vitriol comes form the mouths of the very people who have long professed to be anti-racist, anti-fascist, anti-violence and por-women. The duplicity is shocking. I wish President Biden would do something, say anything to address what is going on for what it actually is, and provide assurances to the Jews of this country in some specialize address to the nation.
I have listened twice. I have printed the text of the speech so I can follow along. I will listen at least two more times. You have brilliantly articulated what has lately been hovering unformed in my mind. Douglas Murray has helped me also. Thank you Bari.
This is one of the most powerful speeches I have ever heard or listened to. It is a call to action for good over evil, right over wrong. Thank you Bari. Everyone should listen to her!!!
Thank you Bari for your clear call to action here! This is one of the best speeches I've heard and should be required listening to every college student now.
What a magnificent speech. It was a Kennedyesque clarion-call to begin the recovery of a genuinely moral and benevolent polity, and I hope it leads, or helps to lead, to just that, because that is exactly what America needs. The speech gave me a moment when I wished I could vote for Bari as President. But I know that today, to win a majority, presidential candidiates, like all politicians, are obliged to negotiate such wildly colliding currents of different interests, especially now, that they have to countenance hitherto unknown levels of compromise, including moral compromise. Bari is too honest to dignify such a process, and in any case, in an era when change isn't initiated at the politico-legal level but by media-popularized ideological and moral deceit inserted into politics from the cultural level, counter-pressure will only be effective if it makes major use of that level itself. The Constitution is proving a feeble defence against a challenge that has cleverly disguised itself as traditional American liberalism, piggybacking on it by stealing and misapplying its vocabulary to turn America against itself. The real US needs to switch to new tactics, to both recoup traditional and add new, compatible concepts and sub-systems -- social, educational, and economic, probably intertwined -- that will wrong-foot and disavantage the internal enemies who are threatening to capture not just American institutions, not just misled American hearts and minds, but the very idea of America itself.
"May their memory be for a blessing" I am pro Jewish and pro Israel. I lived in Israel in the early 90s. What Hamas did to Israeli women and children during the massacre of October 7th is horrendous. I have spoken about this at work and come under attack??? How anyone can support Hamas is incomprehensible. This woman is outstanding. Thanks for sharing this video. I am resharing it with everyone I know.
