The Last of the Mohicans Soundtrack - "Promontory", "The Gael" - Magua vs the Mohicans Theme. BEST Mix Inspired by “The Gael” and later produced by Dougie MacLean
I would rate that penultimate scene in the movie as the best cinematographic scene ever made. It is nothing short of perfection. It is a scene that tells 10,000 words, and without any dialogue - the relentless push up the mountain in pursuit, the crescendo, tge sense of hope, devastation, crushing loss, despair, anger, revenge, the heart of a warrior, whose heart is broken at the sight of the death of his son, that no father shoukd ever see, the despair of the sister who takes her own life rather than face her other fate, the trauma of her sister as she witnesses it... it is so packed with intensity of human experience, in silence without words, that i cannot imagine it ever being matched. And of course, it goes without saying, the music accompanying the entire scene lifts it to that perfection.
@@YepImThatGuy66Agreed. And one that didn’t have all the CGI, crappy acting, and lame story lines that so many movies today have. Absolutely pegs the meter on everything . This movie should be the example by which new generations of filmmakers learn.
September 1997 while walking the WHW in Scotland, we stopped for 3 days at the Drovers Inn due to heavy rain and flooding. My brother and friend Steve worked our way thru Malts while music from Last of the Mohicans played in the background. My brother Bruce passed away last November 2023. Until we meet again, keep a dram ready for me brother.
Such a great movie and the soundtrack is a vital component. I'll go to my grave believing that Wes Studi should have received the Oscar for his chilling Magua.
Better than eight minutes, from the Sachem's final words, to Magua hitting the rock, of no-dialogue action and facial expressions telling everything you need to know, and this music carries you along. A masterclass in film making and acting genius.
I saw this movie for the first time in 92 when I was 17 y.o. I've always felt a strong connection to this music. My heritage is Scottish, Irish, and Cherokee. I still feel that same feeling that felt the first time I heard it. It is hauntingly beautiful music.
@@t.h.5521 There was no royalty in native american culture that was a european concept. You obviously have a problem with being a bigot towards native americans.
I'm Irish, Creek, Confederate American, I was 18 when this movie came out in 1992, a junior in high school, I had been civil war reenacting since 1987 my first year at Shiloh, and my last year was in 2012 @ Shiloh 150th, my ggg-grandfather was confederate general Hood, who led the famed Texas brigade at Antietam and Gettysburg, given command of the army of Tennessee in the west in 1864, and known for his two disasters @ Franklin and Nashville
Hi unobtain great music for a great film, really suited the theme of the movie. However that said, the one that stands out for me is the theme from 'The Mission'. Still takes my breath away.
Such a Blessing to be mixed! Such rich cultures you hail from! I hail form German , Indian , Khoi San and Dutch bloodlines and am SO proud of ALL my ancestry.
"Great spirit and the maker of all life. A warrior goes to you swift and straight as an arrow shot into the sun. Welcome him and let him take his place at the council fire of my people. He is Uncus, my son. Tell him to be patient and ask death for speed. For they are all there, but one...... I, Chingachgook..... last of the Mohicans"
@@finalgirl640 Ecstasy of Gold is only played once & considered the secondary piece of music in the movie. The main movie score (no name) is played throughout the movie in a variety of different ways. There's also different music for the main climatic shootout & a sprinkle of other music as well in other scenes. The music in general throughout the movie, is superb & why it deserves to be considered in the best soundtrack of all time. When someone lays claim to best movie soundtrack of all time, I don't see what styles of music has anything to do with being exempt from that consideration. There are many movie soundtracks styles different from each other & styles different to The Last of the Mohicans.
@_MjG_ oh I get that. I understand what you're saying. I just don't think one is better than the other for several reasons. I thought you were specifically mentioning the "theme" for some reason. But Ennio Morricone and Trevor Morris and Dougie MaClean are all excellent composers.
@@mrkitcatt2119the song is Scottish mate It’s called the Gael FFS Think about it for a while Gàidhlig /gaelic you know Scottish Is this making any sense
@@mrkitcatt2119my apologies I picked this comment up wrong I thought you are one of these weird people that think it’s native American Tha mi duillich Tapadh leat agus Slàinte
One of my favourite films of all time - as an Irish person who sees history, not only as a memory of the past, but as a constant reminder of how we got to the present - I see my history, the Native American and the Palestinians past and so many other cultures in this modern world, as a never ending reactionary movement against the erosion of an ancient world that is being destroyed forever unless we wake up to the greed that commodifies us all. A greed that sells our land, resources and culture as if it's a part of Disneyland.
One of the best sound tracks ever. A rollercoaster of emotions. If you're stuck in sh"tty traffic, play this loud, you and those around you will forget about the congestion.
Mágica, espetacular, obra prima do cinema mundial, atuações primorosas,e trilha sonora...inigualável!Um dos melhores filmes produzidos, inesquecível, abraços á todos apaixonados pelo cinema!Saudações do Brasil!
This great music was my go to favorite when I was learning to drive and ride a motorcycle. I will ALWAYS treasure it!! I'll be listening to it a lot now that I'm thinking about learning to fly, Ha, pray for me!!
By far one of my favorites!!! So much Power ,Majesty, and Depth in this music!! So beautifully Dramatic !! So majestically written !! The soundtrack and movie is Brilliant!!!
This is by far the best version of the soundtrack I have ever heard, it's more alive and great quality❤ my favorite movie and music when I was a child I remember I listened to it all day every day for long time, my parents were going crazy. Wow it just reminded me how much I love good music and film
Thank you so much for this video. I fell for Eric Schweig when I was young, and decades later he still is the most handsome man I have ever seen. This music goes straight to my heart.
Honestly, the most BEAUITUFL piece of music I have EVER heard. I saw this movie and have listen to the sound track, especially this piece, over and over and over and over again. I play piano by ear and I can use this as a base to add my umpteenth accompaniments ever. Thank you.
This song quietly but ominously plays in the background everywhere Daniel Day Lewis walks. You don’t even know where it’s coming from. It comes out nowhere. Just like Daniel Day Lewis. Time stands still and everything freezes. Birds hold their position in mid flight. Crickets cover each others mouths. All scared the slightest of movements will cause a Daniel Day disturbance. Then the music fades away as Daniel walks out of our lives again. Leaving you frozen with disbelief, a fond memory and a new shiny pair of Italian leather shoes
What a beautiful song and melody. I use this to draw and my art is better for it every time, this is what is lost in today's generations, the music to inspire with only music and no message but glory!!!!❤
There are no words for this, the image and the harmony of the music combine wonderfully. Let all darkness fall, and let the power of the real Light come, because they too have been subjugated, now us, the Mag-people, but the dice will turn, they WILL PAY ONCE for all sins. NO EARTHLY FORCE WILL KNOW WHEN.
This theme is not only epic but, moving and emotional for me. I loved the movie and the music. It definitely get a 5 star rating. Thank You for sharing
Am I alone with what I'll describe below? The first time I really noticed the magic contained in this piece was when I heard it and had a rather eerie feeling, as if I too was watching it go by (like one of the countless wild creatures that come with curiosity and... Be careful looking at the world) the path on which Uncas, the son of Chingachgook and Magua of the Huron tribe, held their encounter and duel, which resulted in the loss not only of Uncas, but also of Alice Munro, who chose to follow Uncas to the realm of the great spirit.
It is a very thrilling music, and the pictures from the film are wonderful. They are so handsome! It is touching me too in my deep heart because i have Cherockee roots ❤
La escucho una una y otra vez con el mismo disfrute. He escuchado veinte versiones y ninguna supera a la original. Mi agradecimkento por el placer que engrandece el alma. Michael Mann también debe estar agradecido porque el film, que también disfruto una y otra vez, se engrandece con la brillante música de Trevor Jones y Randy Edelman.
This has become part of the soundtrack of each of our lives, every single one of us who has played this so many times, for so many reasons. Go easy into your own eternity. You'll have great music. Even if you're a turd. 😋😆
5:03…Would you jump or would you take the man’s hand to be safe for few minutes? Her face of helplessness and yet is her decision it’s captivating. I do like the fact that when he saw the lifelessness in her eyes, he handed out his hand. But too late.
