I loved that they gave us a fake-out with them almost getting hit by another truck (which is what happens in game) and then the plane crashes instead. It shows that they are being faithful to the source but still doing things that can make someone like me, who has played both games multiple times, say holy S**T!
EXACTLY! That scene in particular was a very nice allegory for the whole show. It's like the said, "Oh, you've played the game? Ok, cool, I know you THOUGHT you knew what was going to happen here, but we're going to do THIS! BWAHAHA! Surprise!" *LOL* It's BRILLIANT. Love it. 🤣🥰
i think a lot of the changes they made also improve the source material, like in the game the truck was a shock but also felt more cliche than the plane crash in the show and that helped make it an even more shocking scene than it was. same with the reason they crossed paths with marlene, i felt like it was more fitting that they were all trying to get a truck to do their thing and needed the battery instead of joel and tess on their rogue weapon trade mission and marlenes just there like....yeah i bought ur guns my b, but hey take this kid across the country for who knows how long and you can have em back +interest amirite?
21:52 Fun Fact: The radio broadcast at the beginning (during breakfast) is talking about an outbreak in Jakarta, which Sara points out is in Indonesia. Jakarta also happens to be the home of the largest flour mill in the world. In the first 20 minutes of the episode, we see Joel and Sara avoid infection FOUR times. They have no flour for pancakes. They turn down the neighbors biscuits. Sara leaves before the cookies are finished when visiting the neighbors. And Joel forgets to buy a cake. FOUR times the characters were spared consuming foods containing a product likely manufactured in Jakarta that could have very likely contributed to the global outbreak.
i loved when you started it out with "she doesnt like zombie shows" and i just sat here smiling like, i know this is going to be one of the best reaction channels to stick around for. im excited to see your connection with the future of this series !
Marlene is played by the same actress as in the video game. Their role was the only one to be filled 1:1. Troy Baker (Joel) and Ashley Johnson (Elli) also have cameos in the series. Troy will play a henchman of David the Cannibal and Ashley Johnson will play Elli's mother. I think that's especially great, that the character Elli now plays Elli's mother is epic.
Im also not one for scary things but im glad i stuck with last of us, bc it became much more character driven than about jump scares. And pedro is hot.
That’s actually something that existed in real life back in the Middle Ages! There was a fungi that would grow inside wheat that would then be transformed into flour and eaten by people, and it basically had the effects of LQD on them. A lot of die of it. They wouldn’t transform into fungi zombies, but still. I find it terrifying. The illness h’ doesn’t exist anymore, but who knows…
Much appreciated! Glad you enjoyed it, it means a lot. We put a lot of work into the quality, and we are trying our best to get even better going forward. Thank you! 😊
It’s a fungus, so was the biscuits that they ate and the cookies anything with bread that’s how people are getting affected in the beginning that’s how
Lots of choices out there, but I really enjoyed you two reacting to this. I'm looking forward to when it gets to the part when neither of you know what is up! I'll be back!
That's not far off. When I say I've played the first 45min, MOST of that was exploring drawers and walking around aimlessly. 😅😅 So I really don't know much about the game. 😂
1 year late to the reaction but i gotta say i absolutely loved yall. can’t wait to finish the series ! (great editing btw. felt like i watched the full thing 😂)
So something to take note of : I believe the flour is what originally spread the fungus. Notice how Joel and Sarah are out of pancake mix? 🥞 then the infected people next door are eating biscuits/ baking cookies.. then in the 2nd episode what we learn kinda goes right along with this. It was in the freaking flour people!!!
Yeah, that's what we here. I think I saw a behind the scenes of this episode, and they had a newspaper or something talking about the wheat/flour. YIKES!! I love bread... guess I need to go KETO! *LOL* 🤣🤣
Did either of you notice that Ellie is infected? You were talking about Tess then the video cut 20 seconds and you didn't react at all, so... did you miss it?
You're right! I didn't catch it while watching it, but I did while editing it. Didn't call it out in the next episode because I'd forgotten it by then. but thanks! Nice Catch! you're more observant than we are clearly! 😅😅
It was low for copyright purposes. HBO likes to claim like EVERYTHING. We have a White Lotus Episode that is claimed and it's mostly due to the audio. Super sux. but the next episode may be a little louder 😅 Thanks for the feedback.
