HOLY S**T what an episode!! Lots of easter eggs and parallels to the games! The Henry & Sam story was done very well, and was very interesting with Sam being deaf. Of course the big bad BLOATER!!! Wow that scene was so insane!! Let us know your thoughts on Episode 5! Enjoy the reaction!

The look of horror and that whimper Ellie lets out after Henry's death was master class acting by Bella here. She was the perfect choice for Ellie and you can't convince me otherwise.

Maaaaan you can tell by Perry's face and his reaction that he's never seen a Bloater before. It's cool to see how rare they really are and how dangerous they can be! He genuinely thought a machine gun would do the trick. The man needed some Molotovs and a shotty for realllll 😅

Joel digging those graves is one of the most clear signs yet of how important Ellie is becoming to him. He never would have done that if it was just him. That was totally for her. This show if freaking AMAZING.

This was a great episode, and wonderful reaction again! Keivonn Woodard is deaf in real life. Both Kathleen and Henry died at the end because of their love for their brother. They went to their extreme form of their love, vengeful love and self-sacrificing love respectfully. Ellie's belief that she could cure Sam made it so much more painful. I think she genuinely believed that it would work. She is a child, she has been told over and over that she is a cure, she has no understanding about how a cure would be made so it makes sense that she thinks it could be relatively simple... Oh, so sad. She apologized at the grave. When Tess died, Ellie hung around to grieve, while Joel shoved his emotions down grimly and pressed on. This time it was Joel who lingered and Ellie who left. He is becoming more emotional, and she is becoming colder/more traumatized. I also think she left so fast because the faster they leave, the sooner there will be a cure. The sooner that will never happen again (in a child's mind). Everyone we know that Ellie has lost that she had a relationship with, she lost due to the infection. She has been told that she is the cure, that she basically exists to fight the infection. She had her first battle, and she lost. That is what is going through her head, I think. Sam also faced the window. Two things: He knew he wouldn't see Ellie, which means he wouldn't attack her. He was protecting her. As he felt himself turn, he knew he wouldn't hear her. If he couldn't see her, he wouldn't know she was there and thus couldn't attack her. Also, it has been confirmed over the years of the game that runners DO have the person in their head. So Sam was in there when he attacked Ellie. Something to think of though -> If Ellie never touched him, if no one ever touched him or got in his vision, he would be sitting there forever watching the sunset. He's deaf, so he wouldn't hear anything. Once he hit the clicker phase, and he could no longer see, then he would be sitting there in darkness and silence forever. If you play the video game, when you get to the sewers area, get every note from Ish. They give a nod to him which I appreciate (the part of the tunnels with the kid's room and the picture on the wall that says, "Our protectors -> Daddy and Ish." It's a fascinating and heartwarming/heartbreaking story) Fun Facts: Joel collects the comic books in the game for Ellie. Cordyceps is one of the fungi that is composed of chitin; crustaceans and a lot of arthropods also have a lot of chitin in their exoskeleton. As the infected get worse and worse (covered in more and more of the fungus), you can kind of think of it as having more and more armor/exoskeleton.

Kathleen: “When you’re done, burn the bodies, it’s faster.” In another video, someone pointed out that when Joel and Ellie arrive in KC last episode, they drive past a pile of burned bodies 🤔

When I heard that they made Sam deaf do they could make his dependence on his brother Henry more believable, I thought was brilliant.

Man this episode was amazing. And the beginning bit kinda makes me wish that the commonwealth protests in twd were like this rather than 15 people outside chanting lol

This episode was insane ! What a rollercoaster. One minute I was cheering and the next minute I was crying. Hahaha.

11:02 Henry let Sam answer for himself so he can feel like part of the conversation. That's important for people who are hearing impaired. Nm, y'all got it right after lol.

This episode was amazing!! I had to pause several times just to recollect my thoughts and emotions. That ending scene had me torn up 💔😢

Kathleen kind of reminds me of Ginny from "Fear The Walking Dead". It's that false cheerfulness in that high pitched voice. This was by far, the saddest episode so far. I was shocked. Too shocked to cry til later after I processed it.

Regarding the child clicker... In the behind the scenes for this episode they said they used the person from planet of the apes to choreograph the zombies. The child clicker beating the crap out of her looks a lot like the chimps on planet of the apes

Sam and Henry’s deaths hit so much harder because of the hope Ellie had in curing Sam. She had wanted to prove her immunity could be used for good, but it failed in a horrible way. I wonder if that’s meant to build up apprehension in Ellie helping the Fireflies and accepting Joel’s decision to save her in the finale.

OMG I'm absolutely Loving this show & it just get better each episode.

13:02 That's Ellie's scar. It's hard to notice but she's definitely had it since the beginning of the first game. It's more noticeable on Bella because she has darker hair.

The way the bloater killed Perry, ripping his face in half, is the same death cutscene you get when killed by a bloater... Though in the game you are a lot closer and can see it very clearly! Loved that easter egg

Kathleen's brother was actually a good man, almost Christ-like, so Henry would be considered Kansas City's Judas.

If you guys aren’t listening to the companion podcast to the show YOU ARE MISSING OUT. For example, I learned: The kid who played the clicker is actually a contortionist and got the part because she was absolutely amazing and terrifying at her audition. The entire neighborhood where the fungi stampede takes place was built completely from scratch specifically for the show. The actor whom plays Sam is deaf in real life and it was an interesting journey finding him since it was very, very challenging to find an actor who met the show’s criterion. Anywhooo…I HIGHLY recommend the podcast to get even deeper and more meaningful connections to TLOU!!! 🙃

I think they did very well with the changes, especially with Henry's character. In the game, Henry was very strict and a little bit of a dick. In the show he was actually a decent person with a heart. Also the changes with Sam being deaf and younger makes the change on Henry's character and motivation makes much more sense. And then we have Sam revealing his bite mark to Ellie, which shows the innocence in Ellie and adds gravity towards her motivation, and her feelings about her immunity.

Ellie and Joel switch sides at the end. That was the Tess moment from episode 2. Ellie runs ahead while Joel is still waiting at the grave. Tess gave Joel a mission he wanted to fulfill as her last wish. The relationship that Joel had with Tess was similar to Ellie and Sam. Ellie promised Sam the cure here and couldn't keep this promise. She now wants to make sure that this never happens again. As Tess said at the time "save who you can save". Ellie really has a mission now. Indirectly get through her feelings of guilt. She wants her blood to work. Before that, she was someone who had no control over anything. Others have determined where she grows up and where she has to go now. Now that has changed. Now conviction plays a role and she takes control. She wants to save the world so that there are no more Sam's.

Snipers are usually in pairs. 1 spotting (basically getting the windage/dope/distance of target). The team is usually set back in a compound/wound line. Most likely suppressed because the silencer completely hides the flash of the weapon. Unless it was a cold bore shot. Thanks for the videos.... I've been on the road missing the show 🤙

Kathleen has got that soccer mom Karen vibe, that's what it is, and what makes her scarier, imo. In the end, her need for revenge killed everyone. Parallels. 🤯I loved the remix with Henry and Sam, Joel out maneuvering the sniper - I really thought that guy was gonna be a hold out resisting everyone, but nope - and I was sobbing at the end. This is the game chapter I hated the most, Sarah was a close second. The Bloater and the Infected attack scene were both EPIC, I freaked out, my family thought something was wrong with me, 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

You knew it was coming and they tried to give you false hope with Ellie’s blood but god dam it hurt, AGAIN! That move by Ellie may come back later after Joel’s firefly fun. I really though Troy’s James character was gonna get the bloater game kill. So imagine in Pt 3 we get tendrils and now the infected only have to touch you to infect you because fungus can now spread by contact to uncovered skin.

Im actually not surprised as kathleen being a villain, idk if anyone knows the actress but she plays as charliee sheen stalker from "2 and half man" so she already had this creepy side to her that went well in this show, im glad she got more of a sinister roll other then a stalker tho lol

what im curious about is why was kathleen so hellbend on finding these people and were these people stealing from others, when shit like this comes out of the ground. in this world humans should pull together, or they are gonna get ripped to pieces. i get that henry killed kathleens brother (handed him over to fedra) but i get a sence that all these people have been living in this apocalypse for 20 years and havent seen anything like this before. because why would you terrorize people when theres 1000000 of infected living in your soil.

Incredible episode. Best of the season so far. If Kathleen was worse than Negan and Alpha, she would've killed Henry. Ellie's little whimper when Henry shot himself was such great acting.

Couple thoughts... How did the Hunters know they were coming through that neighborhood at that time? And as they get overrun by the infected, is it seeming that the infected are going to proceed to invade the city and that's pretty much the end of KC? That's kind of what I was thinking.

I know this isn't walking dead but a article just came out bout Darryl's show .spoiler warning ⚠️⚠️ if you don't wanna know 😉 😃😃😃 Darryl wakes on a beach apparently. Then they announced more of the cast regulars. Sounded like a lot french actors and another child is introduced. Darryl makes compliances as his journey goes on while he also tries to piecing together how he got there. Ricks letter in the bottle floats on shore but the words are faded except his signature🤣 the letter part is a joke but the rest is just a brief description in the article. the article e should come up in your Google feed for who every wants to see it.

Really good episode and a solid show but wish we could have some characters last longer. Hard to get connected when they die in the same episode basically

my biggest issue is they have shown the bloater to be so incredibly strong in the show already that I cant see a 2nd appearance of it because Joel wouldnt be able to do anything to it

Comparing Kathleen to negan is insulting to negan. Kathleen is like the governor (maybe a lil alpha in there). To fixated on her own bs, to see the real goal. I finally understood why all these people followed her when she said, 'Why do you think you're in front, clear them.'... they're all stupid. I get why k was mad... but... she deserved that clicker to the face. She got everyone killed. were the kid clickers possibly... the classroom kids? ~ random thought

I grew up with it being called “soccer” but since it involves more or your feet than American football and I don’t really care for that sport, I prefer “fútbol” how the rest of the world sees it. I guess that makes me an asshole lol, great reaction and commentary as always!
