The Last RAF Vulcan Flight - Delivery to Bruntingthorpe 

I was at Doncaster Robin Hood airport last Sunday 20th Nov 2022 to hear Vulcan XH558's engines being tested for the very last time. There were hundreds of people from all over the country there to hear that iconic sound for the very last time. Soon, XH558 will be dismantled to be moved who knows where: wherever she can find a home. What a terrible end for the plane that was the undisputed star of every air show she appeared at. We can smile because it happened, but we can now cry because it really is over.

We are so lucky that this magnificent aircraft thansk to a great civilian team was able to fly again for around another 8 years delighting crowds around the UK many of which had never seen it in service. My hats off to them all.

Remember it well. I was one of the video camera operators who contributed to this piece working for Adrian Campbell of Aviation Action (now Planes TV). I was filming from the old control tower as the XH558 comes in to land showing the assembled crowds at the runaway's edge.

I was on the fire crew at RNAS Yeovilton in the late 70's when they used to come there to carry out GCA/Rollers. Once seen, never forgotten.
