I don't get why people don't like this song, it gives Alex the best opportunity he's ever had to show off his voice. One of my favourite songs on the album, a proper good novelty style and some wonderful, heartfelt lyrics which don't end up being too cheesy.
+Octavio89 well I think you just don't see the novelty of it as worth it. It's obviously not trying to have the word play of say, SIAS, or the instrumental complexity of other albums. it's a fun but heartfelt carousel style do, fair if you don't like it but it feels like people often aren't open to the merits of music enough, and aren't happy to take it for what it is rather than how it compares to other music. Also feel like the first album is seen through rose tinted glasses, its great fun and I love it but it's not a masterpiece compared to other work by Alex.
+Sam Ba it's one of my favourites too and I think the beginning of the song and the heavy beats throughout remind me of a Roy Orbison song called 'The Crowd' and boy do I love that song 😀
i think this is the kind of song that grows on you over time, with me as well. probably because it's so eccentric and just a bit less accessible than the rest on the album, but the more you listen to it, the more you realise it's a rather powerful and majestic song.
+Sam Ba I dunno. Maybe they, like, have opinions? Maybe. Not everybody has to double down for Turner. They're within their right to not enjoy the music. Alex is not God.
good you feel like that. For me it is one of his weakest songs in terms of lyrics. He sounds like a horny teenager here and he didn't sound like a teenager even when he was
@@Pableras46 who said that feeling like a horny teenager is a bad thing? he was probably feeling that way about the person he wrote this song for. Now even tho i really find the lyrics almost funny i think his vocal performance makes me enjoy this song a lot.
I love how Alex just goes with it, he doesn't care how he comes across, just singing with all that passion. Such an amazing singer/songwriter. The world needs more Alex Turners, to make up for Bowie being gone. I do have a thing for charismatic Englishmen x
really? id say he cares a lot, the perforance may not be rehearsed, but hes very focused on the 50s and restricting alot of his posturing to that eras style and fashion.... that said, its not a bad to be influenced by and i dont understand why its been a fringe culture for so long
@@tosh_is_me942 It's true, I think the confidence lies in the fact that he doesn't fear going a little bit overboard with how he plays into this kind of character.
I mean, not really, well, maybe his teen years, but he kinda sounds like a Bowie impersonator, and it’s really not that hard to imitate. I’m not saying I don’t like it, it’s just easily achievable.
@@godfrey4474 I have no idea, his is probably some high fashion brand :( Unfortunately all the similar ones I found didn't have an Alex Turner inside, what a disrespect
Alex Turner is not a SINGER he is an ARTIST who is able to write and play beautiful music. Why are you all so hung up on the fact if he hits ever single note? He is by far one of the best musicians of your generation - just listen to the lyrics and SHUT UP
He is a performance artist, and is fast becoming - with Miles - an original and powerful stage presence. Check out their live shows. There is an element of Burlesque which is funny and sexy. Don't always assume it's drugs.
This is such an incredible performance, fuck all of the people commenting on how Alex ruined his career and he's not as good as with the Monkeys. As if he cares, and as if you know any other song from the Monkeys that's not in AM lmao.
With AM Alex seems to sing always from an emotional distance. Always sounds so cool and put together - almost sarcastic. I love how with TLSP he can belt with such passion.
Alex Turner is the greatest to ever do it. 6 arctic monkeys records, 2 with Miles Kane, the submarine soundtrack, Alexandra savior’s debut album - and he gets it right every time
I just sort of always feel sick without you baby I ain’t got anything to lick without you baby Nothing seems to stick without you baby Ain’t I fallen in love It’s just the pits without you baby It’s really just the pits without you baby It’s like everyone’s a dick without you baby Ain’t I fallen in love And all my pals will tell me’s that I’m crazy You bet I’m loopy alright! And I just don’t recognize this fool That you have made me Whoa I ain’t seen him for a while And as your shrinking figure blows a kiss I catch and smash it on my lips Darling I can’t seem to quit Completely falling to bits I really might be losing it The idea that you’ve existed all along’s ridiculous I don’t know what to say Baby we ought to fuck Seven years of bad luck out the powder room mirror Could I have made it any clearer It’s love like a tongue in a nostril Love like an ache in the jaw You’re the first day of spring With a septum piercing Little Miss Sweet Dreams, TN
I love the progression of his career, from AM to TLSP, hes been relevant for 15 years & he matures like a fine wine. Songwriter for the ages & one of the best live performers ive ever had the pleasure of watching
Gracias The Last Shadow Puppets por tan buena música perdón por tan poco.
The saviour to British Rock. Without question. Arctic Monkeys and Alex with Miles. Incredible. Get's us away from that x factor pop shit/manufactured horse manure
So ironic you used the word "saviour" considering his work with Alexandra Savior. You guys check her out if you haven't yet by the way. She's amazing and Alex & James Ford did an amazing work with the production/co-writing
This performance reminds me of Billy Fury circa 1961, especially "Jealousy". Good luck to you, Alex. You're still responsible for the best written rock'n'roll songs this decade, as well as the best haircut .
i really don't understand why isn't everybody screaming after teee neee see e e ee.... i understand the cords go on with the melody and it's quite adorable till the very end of the song. but come on! Alex's performance is always perfect!! i think i've seen all the available performances of this song. yeah, even played two at the same time, and you know what? they match perfectly!! i got two Alexes singin with each self and it's HEAVEN!! the melody harmonics, rhythm, lyrics, everything is adorable in this song. i only realised how perfect the song is after the 5th time or so... it's beautiful and i sing it out loud in the car, proudly! because someone with great talent did this song and is able to perform it time and again with the same passion. it's passion for the art, dears, it's not drugs! and even if it is drugs, give me a fuckin break! don't even want to start this. just think a bit about this guy's schedule and think for a minute that they have a human body. they and all the artists as well. just appreciate and be greatful for moments like when we hear this song!
on jools holland the audience never applaud until the songs finished, if anything it's more respectful as they want to enjoy the whole song and not cheer over it
yeah, on tv sets the emotions are controled. i commented on this video because of some nasty, ignorant and childish other comments (the universe appreciates people to realise how each sentence has an effect). but i could post that comment on some other videos too. or something along those lines because i think i already did. if i was there, Jools Holland would never be the same :O ... or this would be an out of the routine episode that would be told 30 years from now in a doc about tv shows of the 10's ahahhahahah there's a spectrum of emotions a song can erupt on us. this is a very active vulcanic song for me, i'm terraforming here! all i can say now is that i respect the other spectrums and i do want to have this song saved for posterity without the interference of noise.
i don't know what's with that performance but OH MY GOD. it's so emotional and he just puts everything in it and i legit cried like what, this is amazing im speechless
being influenced by british culture ,music-, having a strong will to learn english mainly to UNDERSTAND what musicians are singing about , simply saved my life on many levels, from finding a good job, to finding a purpose of life. Thank you all british nation!
