Back in 86 ( 13), the Sears by my house was blowing out The Power of The Force figure and some Jedi for 2 for a dollar. I kept them in the boxes. I get asked by some of my friends if I would sell them Han in Carbonite and R2. But I can't sell my childhood. Your channel is amazing.

🤔 hmm.. I think the POTF 2 line in the mid 90s was still made by Kenner. They were hesitant about getting back into it after the major drop off since 1985. Somewhere in the early 2000s they passed it along to Hasbro to take over, because they were done. Yes the Imperial Gunner is the most bad ass looking figure ✊😎 People steal the weapon out of the Keziban and Thall Jordan's Droids package to put with the Luke stormtrooper. It's the same. I want to get one of your shirts, Imperial Officer 👌 very cool. Happy collecting bro 👊

Hey Scott! POTF 2 was technically made by Kenner but it was owned the the Hasbro corporation so legally it’s a Hasbro product, not a Kenner product.

I continued to collect Kenner SW all the way through the Power of the Force line in 1985. I spent 2 years to find Yak Face (got him in 1987) in those days without eBay. I have two complete sets of POTF figures.

It always puzzled me why the General Lando figure had a moulded tunic outside his trousers with a belt over the top when the card photo clearly shows his tunic tucked into his trousers with the belt on his hips. Oh well... When it comes to the coins, they're similar to petrol giveaways we used to get in the UK featuring different makes of historical cars.They were so light as to be virtually weightless, real cheap Aluminium (Aloominum for Americans! 😂) Still missing the R2 Lightsaber, every time you mention it I break into a cold sweat! 😬😂 Great video, Joey!

Side note before I make my comment: While I was watching this video I was doing organization of my collection with my database AND as you said Jabba the Hutt Dungeon I was ironically holding it in my hands. I actually have both versions of them and the version I was holding was the one you mentioned. okay now my comment. Awesome detailed history on these figures. I am so happy that I own all of them. I don't have all the coins and I do need to find the ones that I have. They are missing with a few other things (I have them just not sure where). Once I find them I am going to work on collecting those I don't have. Some of these figures I bought in the 90s, the ones I don' t have the coins, but the ones I bought in 1985 I have the coins. A bit of some story on getting these figures for me. This was pre-internet or beginning of the internet so I got them from collector stores. I use to see the Han with the Carbonite at some toy store in Studio City. She had it priced at $150 and here I was just out of high school and early college and $150 was too much money for me (this was late 80s/ early 90s). I was trying to get her to lower the price a few times and she kept saying "go buy it from someplace else, I am not lowering the price." Several years later when the new Star Wars toys were being released, I was looking for all these comic book stores around town. I found a huge one in Agoura Hills so I went there. And in a display case was Star Wars toys and action figures. Sitting in there was the Han in Carbonite for $80, Luke in the Stormtrooper and Yak Face. Yak Face was around $200. In a nutshell I bought all three of them, with getting the Han at a much lower price. All complete but no package. I think I got a good deal at the time and I am happy I got them. A few years or so after that I found the Blue Snaggletooth at one of these stores too. I can't remember which one. But in those days it was a lot of fun running around town and buying them at these various places. Thanks again for another wonderful episode of the action figures. Your information is very valuable.

Hi Wolf! Thanks for sharing that story! Ah man hunts back then must have been so fun but a guess at the prices I can imagine!!! I remember going to comic book shops thst had the old vintage toys but I could never justify paying more than 5 bucks for a figure because I was broke and also because I wasn’t serious at collecting in the late 90s! I really should have haha! Thanks for watching and for the rad comment!!!

I remember the C3POs cereal. It was okay, but the box was the coolest part of it. The back had masks that you could cut out and wear. Each release of boxes had different masks on it. I didn't keep them unfortunately, but I remember them well. It's really cool that Mark Hamil told the hostess on Blue Peter that there was going to be a set of prequel movies. I really wish that the plan to have one of the movies feature young Luke. That would have been great! I guess that the new Obi Wan Kenobi sort of has that, but from what I've read and seen, he is only in three episodes. Those coins were a brilliant idea! I don't have any of the original run ones but do have coins for the Ralph McQuarrie design figures though. Great info about the really rare ones. I wasn't impressed by Amanaman as a kid either. I don't remember even considering getting him. Looking at him now, he's rather interesting, especially his staff. It's rather odd that I didn't just get one of each figure considering how much I usually like to have complete sets of things, but for some reason, I only bought or asked for specific figures back then. I wish I had now though because it would cost me a whole lot to complete the set. That Death Star plans prop is super cool! I've not seen one of those before. Is it a prop used in one of the movies, or a reproduction? Interesting that the A-Wing Pilot came on both POTF and Droids Cartoon cards. This video really has a lot of info! It's interesting that the action figure version of Han in Carbonite is actually more sensible than what wound up in the movie. The version in the movie is dramatic, but it has always caused controversy since Han has his wrists bound when he is lowered into the carbon freezing chamber, yet his hands are in front of his face in the carbon freeze block. But in the toy version, his hands are at his sides which makes more sense. It's funny that they thought to make Luke in Stormtrooper Disguise, but not Han. The POTF2 set took care of that oversight. I have both Luke and Han in Stormtrooper armor from that set. Sure, they are a little too buff, but it's just cool that they finally both got released. Removable is a tough word to rattle off for sure, especially when giving a speech. I stammer and stumble over my words something terrible when I try to give a speech. The Luke in Endor Poncho is the only POTF figure that I ever got. I'm sure it was because I needed him for riding my Speederbike. I too wonder why his helmet doesn't come off like Leia's does. It's weird. I have no idea where the coin, belt or blaster for him is. Lost long ago. His belt is now a black twistie tie. As much as I've always liked the Ewoks, I'm surprised that I didn't get Worok back then. I wish I had. R2D2 with pop up saber is super cool, but is way out of my budget. Good explanation of why Yak Face is so crazy expensive. I've heard all sorts of weird rumors about him, but I think your reasons make the most sense. Some say that only the figures that came on the card backs count as 'action figures', but I agree with you that other things should too. All of the monsters like Wampa Ice Creature and Rancor Monster and big droids like the Imperial Probe Droid count as action figures in my book too since you can pose them just like the carded ones. The Dewback and Tauntaun often get lumped in with vehicles since figures can ride them, but they are characters in their own right and are certainly posable. I love how moving the Dewback's tail moves his head. That is a great touch. Great video!
@thepadawancollectorofficial
@thepadawancollectorofficial 10 месяцев назад
Thanks John, yea a lot of people say that the wampa is a creature and not an action figure, but cant they make action figures out of creatures? The Rancor say "Figure" on the box. But to each their own, I just present the question and its off to never never land. Thanks for your outstanding comments once again John, I thoroughly enjoy reading them. I hope your week is off to a great start my friend.

Your old cast videos are VERY informative. It's a good showing for the entire collection. Your probably about 50 years old so you missed the 1977 toy Hunt. K B , toy's R us, all the caldors and other store that are bankrupt. Not thinking about $$$. I played with all the figures and I keep them in excellent shape with the weapons. And all the action sets. My grandkids are amazed when they visit. It's all displayed. I'm amazed how much $$ they are worth. Unbelievable. Keep up the good hobby. Okay, since you released this video I have picked up 3 of the 15 - well, already had the Imperial Dignitary plus Anakin Skywalker and just received John Denver, er I mean Luke Stormtrooper in the mail. I will wait til my actual birthday later this month to open. I am only going to pick up about half of them in the end. I like several but I really don’t like Amanaman, Barada and Carbonite Han for example. For some reason since I was out of collecting in 1985, I have less attachment to several of the characters. I will slow burn, take my time and get the ones I like over the next several years since they are so expensive. The Luke in Endor poncho was a missed opportunity. Not only didn't the helmet come off, he didn't come with a lightsaber. The palace blaster made no sense. Kenner was stingy with the sabers. You can pop off the head and put on a Bespin Luke head. The Endor Leia was released in 1984, not 1983. It was a second ROTJ wave figure. Some of Kenner's choices for the POTF line made no sense. Pop up saber R2-D2 but no carded third legged R2-D2, or no Tarkin or Han in Stormtrooper.

When they started putting coins on the card I stopped buying Star Wars. Having the POTF figures sitting next to the Droids and Ewoks cartoonish toys really didn’t help my view either, since Transformers was scratching my space fantasy itch at the time. Star Wars was dying and I knew there weren’t plans for any more movies, so I put my Star Wars stuff in boxes except for some choice pieces and moved on. The trials of a 9 year old.

I was 18 in the summer of 1990 I had stopped collecting unless my parent ran into stuff at yard sales or such and would pick it for me anyways I was on a date going to the movies at the local mall well killing sometime waiting for the movie to start we went into KB Toys and down the action figure isle was around about a 10x10 peg space filled with power of the force figures and regular Jedi carded figures I still remember the prices to this day 😔 it was . 99 cents for ROTJ carded figures and $3.99 for Power of The Force! Well I didn’t want to look like a nerd in front of this girl so I just looked to see if there was a Stormtrooper Luke and only checked a dozen or so pegs but no Luke there was about every other even flipping through at least half dozen Pop Up R2’s 😔 anyway my plan was go to the movies and come back in couple days and buy a bunch because right there in that isle I got the collecting bug again! Anyways that was the worst collecting decision I have ever made because I came back about 3 days later and every figure was gone 😮 I asked the workers what happened and were did they all go and they said sent back and to this day I have no idea we’re they got sent back to lol 😂 I wish I would have just showed my Nerd side especially when some time later I’m at that girls house and in her room she had a huge collection of Strawberry Shortcake lmao 😂

Thanks for the feedback Jeff. I have a video coming out that takes out all the prices and only focuses on the figures. That video comes out on Christmas Eve

I love the stuff, but the collectibility will be zero after our generation passes just like stamps or baseball cards, collectors plates or figurines. It all ends up in the dumpster.

That’s an interesting insight Explore. I’m just glad that in my lifetime I have these to remind me of my childhood and be a part of a great collector community. It will be interesting to see how future generations treat these figures. I’ll be long gone, but I hope they endure somehow

Hey Vegas!!! Thanks my friend! I say it both ways, I don’t even know which one I’m saying until someone tells me which way they prefer it. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment 🙏

@@thepadawancollectorofficial the reason it happened is because a voice actor on the Battlefront video game said it wrong, because it was written wrong. So fandom changed it thinking it was right or wrong. As a OG OT fan, I prefer AT-AT.
