Before the buttfumble the jets had a chance to go to 2 superbowls in 2 years, but they blew both title games. Read the pinned comment for some important notes
@@Antbeast23 eh not really he got carried by defense and a great run game both years. we never won big and when we lost we lost by scores that a competent offense would have won against
@Dark Demonik listen genius, the butt fumble was in 2010, and it was the best thing that ever happened to the Jets because it happened late in a regular season game that they were anyways getting crushed against new england, however since the Jets were embarrassed by it, the team took it as motivation with Rex Ryan burying the football, AND LATER THAT YEAR IN THE PLAYOFFS THE UNDERDOG JETS CAME INTO FOXBORO AND SENT THE #1 SEAT IN THE AFC PACKING, SO REVENGE IS SWEET AFTER ALL!
@@718World Because listen had the 2010 jets won the sb it woukdve been the greatest underdog run ever Beating Manning AND BRADY BIG BEN AND RODGERS 4 HALL OF FAMERS
@@718World future is looking bright my friend, finally. If we had a QB and a healthy o-line we would be playing today. We making that push for the Lombardi soon!
The Jets didn’t *suck* in 2001-2008 either, they often went toe to toe with the Patriots in that era too. But when Rex Ryan became the coach the Jets became a completely different team, after Rex said he wasn’t there to “kiss belichick’s rings”
It's true. Problem with Rex was when it was going good, we were on top of the world. But his mouth caused a hard fall when we finally did take a turn. You just can't talk like that unless you're backing it up. That being said it felt great to be legitimately in the conversation and he really did give us some pride as fans. When he said he didn't come to kiss Belichick's rings I fucking believed him and he walked the walk for a minute there. Good times!
scjr he brought out an incredible energy and vibe because of it, something that this New York team lacks. Hopefully Robert seleh turns this team around
Brings back awesome memories. That 2011 divisional game beating Brady in foxborough was special. Should’ve gotten LT to a super bowl but I’m glad he was a jet. So many good players from back in the day wore the green and white
All the once-good players seem to go to either the Jets or the Raiders to kill their careers. Tomlinson, Brandon Marshall, Matt Forte, Brett Favre, Boomer Esiason, Eric Decker, Santana Moss, Chris Johnson, Percy Harvin, and now most likely LeVeon Bell.
Losing 2 straight AFC title games is bringing back awesome memories? Wow. Low standards or loser mentality? LT did go to a Super Bowl, he won 2 with the Giants
We're the only team that beat Tom Brady and the Patriots in the Post season without a star QB, We beat the Patriots in the Post season with a sorry QB Mark Sanchez
@@mikelomez9313 exactly. That game me and you went to in the freezing cold was sick. Against Cincinnati when we took the mini van. It was freezing that night!
They had control of their own destiny and fell short. How do you beat a Patriots team that were trying (but failed) to get the #1 seed BUT then lose to the Bills?
If the Jets hadn't lost to the Bills twice in 2015 not only would they have made the playoffs but also be the #1 seed apparently. Of course given if the Patriots still lose in week 17 in this alternate timeline.
When the Jets would celebrate with their arms out as a plane that was the greatest feeling at the time. Just watching that was awesome to see. They gotta bring that back.
Those 2 seasons were absolutely amazing for me as a young jets fan. I remember all these guys. I went to the last game at giants stadium against the bengals in January , it was so fucking cold
@@TheJETSFANSINCE96 bro i was wrapped in blankets eating hot dogs lol. People starting ripping the seats out of the stands so they could sell them/have a piece of the stadium to take home lmao
Yeah, I was there a couple seasons later watching the butt fumble on thanksgiving. Miserable weather and day, waiting for the day when I can see play like this from the jets .
The steeler game always breaks my heart cause we scored 19 unanswered points and would have went down as one of the greatest playoff games in history had we completed the comeback and went to the super bowl
Some great memories here. Thanks for posting. I was at the San Diego game and remember commenting that there were 50,000 'really nervous' southern Californians late in the 4th. The Indy game (1st championship), Indy was just a better team that year. The Pittsburgh game is the one that will bother me for the rest of my life. It seemed like Pittsburgh was up three scores in the blink of an eye and the Jets just kept on fighting back. No good reason that they started to flat. Rex and Sanchez worked very well together.
The Steelers were also better that year. In fact that was probably the most complete Steelers team in the Big Ben era. They should’ve won the chip that year imo
I remember that Steelers game, if we stop them on that 4th down we go down the field and score I was so fucking upset but we had a chance we can establish both lines and with Sam we can make a push
Ryan's crazy, blitzing defense worked so well because of Derelle Revis. You can take crazy chances when you have the best one on one cornerback in the league.
@@jack-xf3zo he got rid of problem guys in the locker room like Ajai and Landry. It is good when players hate a Coach last thing you want is a players coach. Dolphins downgraded at Coach when you hired Brian Flores.....I will say however Jim Caldwell as your OC is a great move
gase was the biggest problem in our locker room according to multiple players, gase is a good oc but he's just not meant to be a head coach, also chad oshay is our oc
Don’t Forget 2015!! We were 10-6. The reason we didn’t advance was the Steelers beat us that year , and their record was the same as ours. It was an interception in the end zone with less then two minutes left against the Bills that prevented us winning our 11th game.
That 2011 divisional game against the pats was fucking amazing I really thought we could’ve made it to the super bowl the defense choked against the Steelers In the championship game the offense was not the problem in the playoffs
how can you knock Sanchize, the guy played with heart, sure he wasnt the most talented, but in the past 10 yrs he's the only QB that has had any success for us. It wasnt all him with our wins in the playoffs, but he was a big part. Good memories. And when we got eliminated by Indy that one year, he played great our defense shit the bed. Even against Pitt we just ran out of time. Lets hope Sam can get things rolling this year or he'll be looking for a new team.
I am an Eagles fan and I really wish the Jets had won that AFC title game @ Pittsburgh. The 2010 super bowl was so stale and boring with Pittsburgh in it. Sanchez, LT and the Jets were a fun team to root for once Vick’s birds got eliminated.
As good as Rex was near the end he was making some boneheaded decisions. And don’t get me wrong I love the jets and these where the years that made me a fan. But he was average near the end . . . BUT BOWLES AND GASE I COULD NOT BELIEVE WHAT I WAS SEEING THEY SUCKED! That was terrible hopefully with sales we can turn things around.
Jets are finally building towards this now i truly believe that but it will be longer term successes and younger players this time around but the talent we had on offense was nuts and then the defense was one of the best I’ve ever seen
Actually the last year they were good was 2015 they would have made the playoffs if the Steelers would have lost and they went 10-6 that’s there first winning record since 2010 so actually it was 2015
jets are slowly getting back there, but i hope it isn't too late. i really have high hopes for michael carter, AVT, wilson and moore. they could cement the offense core soon
RIP Cedric Benson. At this point I would prefer Rex Ryan back as our coach. The reason Sanchez was so successful was because of the great offensive line, great running game & stout defense. Pay the hell attention Gase.
Sanchez played good in the playoffs both of those years. He really wasn’t the reason they lost those games. Versus Indy, Thomas Jones got hurt and the running game stalled. Plus, Peyton Manning... Pittsburgh played more physical on both sides of the ball. Defense didn’t tackle. Shotty choked on the goal line play-calling. And Big Ben was unbelievable escaping pressure. That year was their best team and best chance. Just didn’t happen
This was really only a few years into my experience as a Jets fan. Thomas Jones is who really hooked me a few years earlier, but man these were good times. Before Sanchez became the Butt-fumbler. Back when we still had a good O-line, and we knew that you need talent around your QB. I thought I was in for a fun ride as a Jets fan, but boy oh boy was I wrong about that.
Thanks for doing that video...iam an Australian fan ..i know it's not about winning..but they had the Steelers worried.... there is a couple in this town from usa... particularly Pennsylvania..both Steelers fans ..he always laughes at me when I say jets will be in the play offs this year
I remember that San Diego game like it was yesterday. Only it wasn't. That was a great season, and I believe the last one I felt genuinely excited about. It's been much too long.
0:00 I miss the Bengal head logo Sunday Night Football used for their scoreboard graphics when Cincinnati had an SNF game. I also miss the Viking horn logo they used for Minnesota.
As a Jets fan all my life these past nine years have been absolutely painful in everyway and its just a nightmare to watch (Ik people are saying 2015 which is true 10-6 isnt that bad but it doesnt make missing the playoffs for the past nine years any easier.) I have never seen a team lose like the New York Jets and they are in the top 3 most painful football teams to root for. Every year just wasted draft pick after pick (adams being the exception, and darnold give him time i guess) and horrible moves and AWFUL ownership from the Johnson's make this team a form of torture to watch. I love this team and i will never leave but damn do they make it hard. I was 11 when they were in the playoffs last and it was an AFC Championship game. I miss this team.
Great video.....'till the butt fumble. C'mon man! One bad play over shadows what an underated offensive team that was. Yeah, the defense was the star. But if they could have kept that core together...Cotchery, Holmes, Edwards, Keller along with LT. Good team. Schotty was a decent play caller too. So much better than Gase.
Said it a million times. If we made a stop late and gave Sanchez the ball we would of scored and gone to the super bowl. Just crazy how far we fell after that night.
This Jets team was the last team to take Brady and the Patriots down before the AFC Championship and now they've signed a game changer with Le'Veon Bell. I was a junior and senior in high school during these four playoff games and they feel like such a long time ago to me
I'd put that 2008 season in there too. they were 8-3 and had just dominated 10-0 Titans before Favre tore a biceps tendon. same story: dominant defense and run game, poor QB play had they found a middle of the pack QB for this stretch they very well could've won a ring
Colts game breaks my heart. Was in Indy for that game and colts fans actually started to leave when they were down by 11 and wish us luck in the Super Bowl.
I was a junior in high school. A wife, a mortgage, 2 kids and a business later I'm still waiting to get back here. Here's to another decade of mediocrity.
2015 wasn't that bad, we just lucked out of the playoffs. I have a really good feeling this is the last year the title of this video would be relevant.
