The wonderful Australian publisher & film maker, John Pilger speaks in Sydney for the unveiling of the sculpture, "Anything to Say" by Italian artist Davide Dormino, 10 March 2023. The sculpture represents Australian journalist/publisher, Julian Assange & whistleblowers, Chelsea Manning & Edward Snowden. We will miss you, John Pilger. God speed to your next adventure. Thank you Karyn. I am reading on twitter through Consortium News John Pilger's Silencing the Lambs: how propaganda works. I have followed Pilger from the Vietnam War, watched his great documentaries (remember the Killing Fields?) and marched with him against the Iraq (illegal) war. He was one of the greats of journalism and through his writings, interviews and documentaries he is still and will be great!

A little older than me, but someone i have admired and respected for many years. To you younger ones , read his works, and let the scales fall off your eyes.

John's 1999 book Hidden Agendas on how our ruthless media operates is a classic. Which brings me to todays awful Daily Mail. In it a full feature trashing his life and his works. This rag hasn't changed its tune since its support of a certain German chancellor during the 1930's. It is about time it was removed from circulation. John was a great journalist and broadcaster and is admired by many in our society. RIP John.

I've never heard JP say a good word about Australia, ever. From his coverage in Vietnam to his death. Perhaps the USSR, Cuba or China would've suited him better?

Let's not forget it was John Pilger who exposed the horrors of the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia and the support that regime was getting from the West.

@@markgollop3726 Indeed he did, and he told the unvarnished truth in Vietnam and many other wars. He was a great journalist, undoubtedly, but I don't recall a single kind word by JP about his home country, Australia, which gave him such a great start. He was part of the Aussie diaspora along with Barry Humphries, Clive James, Germaine Greer etc. but none of them took a steaming dump on Australia quite like Pilger did.
