When I clicked on this ridiculous video I wondered what kind of person would bad mouth people just for views. And then your picture came up. Explains a lot. Jimmy Fallon is one of the most talented, funny, charismatic entertainers in the business today. I can't comprehend taking the time to pull other people down but then again that saying "Hurt people, hurt people." I don't know what happened in your life to make you so bitter but I hope you can find a new line of work with better karma and energy....

Jimmy Fallon seems to know this too considering that he's so obviously drunk or on other drugs when doing his show. I'm guessing his contract has a nice golden parachute in it and that's why NBC doesn't bother to find a replacement for him. Cheaper to keep him on the show than to pay that contract cancelation payout.

No this is with the benefit of social media and hindsight. There was legit a time where he was considered sincere by most people. I remember this vividly. It was 2013. I visited these girls apartment and they had a cardboard cutout if Jimmy Fallon. They were obsessed with him. They showed me this video of him and Justin Timberlake doing an evolution of dance thing. That video went viral on Facebook so I had seen it. He also had these lip sink battles everyone loved. Before the show. I remember him going to perform at universal studios at the time and it being sort of big deal. I remember no one had a negative thing ti say about him even those who didn’t watch him. I remember the common sentiment being that he was this fish out of water, sincere, cute dorky yet weirdly attractive guy. I was there man. It seems like so long ago now. But I was there and it was how everyone saw him. Everything changed when that video also went viral on Facebook of his fake laugh. Now everyone acts like they saw it all along. Huh. I've got so many questions about this that I don't know how to articulate bc I can't quite relate (even though I had a front row seat to my uncle's addiction growing up) or understand. So the trauma *response* is the constant need to try to please as many people as possible, and have a larger than life personality to distract from his own perceived shortcomings? What then would be the actual trauma/what was the traumatic event? I'm about a 3rd of the way into the video as I'm writing this, but I guess the idea of his parents letting him drink at a (wildly) inappropriate age doesn't quite connect to me... (??) So the catalyst was his early introduction to substances? And his need to please coupled with that is the reason he behaves the way he does...? Am I making any sense?

Conan O'Brien was the last great late night TV show host in my opinion, and his podcast he currently runs is excellent. I actually really like the segments of Fallon's show that focuses on the stuff he excels at - impressions, musical segments, and improv comedy. But it all kinda breaks down when it's time to actually talk to and interview people. Just conpare Conan having Bill Burr on as a guest VS Fallon. Night and day difference. Conan is not only able to keep conversations with relatively tame people interesting, but he can immediately match (and counter, if need be) the energy of wild cards like Bill without breaking a sweat. Also, Conan is known for treating his employees exceptionally well. During the whole debacle where he was essentially without a show after getting shafted from hosting The Tonight Show, he still paid his employees and didnt lay anyone off, all the way up until he was able to get a new show going. I don't think Fallon or Colbert would have done something like that.

The Ryan Gosling interview itself is one of the hardest pieces of content to get through & you can see the nervous confusion in his face multiple times. At one point he quite literally stares at the ground while Jimmy passes away from laughter like, “what the fck is he doing?”. Spades frustration was also palpable, you could tell he was NOT feeling Jimmys fake persona, and I wish he went in on him, as a huge majority of people aren’t aware just how funny he really is due to being overshadowed by his fellow comedic actors like Sandler etc. Watch Spades clips from the Bad Friends Podcast w/ Bobby Lee & Andrew Santino to see him do what he should’ve done here. Bobby showed up hours late to their interview, so Spade used the opportunity to expertly ick apart Bobby in a way only a seasoned ‘show biz’ level comedian could do. My god I wish he’d have done that to Jimmy live on late night tv

The extent of his success is an enormous, overwhelming pressure. Too much of a good thing if you know what I mean. I worry about his mental health. Picture yourself with all of your most beloved dreams (the ones that border on fantasy) coming true at, what? Thirty? My head would have exploded. (Look no further than my RU-vid user name for the classic case in point.) So, yeah, he annoys the hell out of me sometimes too. But I can't keep from feeling that we're being too hard on him. He's still going through a maturation process. I'm (ok, tentatively) still rooting for him. I hope he finds his balancing point, and calms down a little. After this video I actually feel like I gained some respect for him, he went after what he wanted and he got it in many cases. He does well on the tonight show because he taps into the youth, he transitioned into the new world instead of living in the past as a relic of what tv used to be. I think being positive every single day, acting happy, smiling, laughing at things that aren't that funny... that kind of behaviour would take a toll on anyone. It doesn't surprise me that Ellen and Jimmy might be assholes off screen because of it. I don't think Jimmy Fallon is a bad dude, and I think he's learnt to laugh to make people feel comfortable. If you actually look at his career history the dude is insanely diligent and dedicated. He worked his ass off to get where he is today. I don't see any of the "fakeness" that other people claim to see, he comes across as sincere, if a little awkward, to me. It's so obnoxious the way people slam him for such asinine reasons. Lorne Michaels was and is a huge supporter of Jimmy - that's enough of an endorsement for me personally. His private life is none of my business and has no bearing on his ability as an entertainer, and it's COMPLETELY infantile to obsess and pore over some celebrity's life looking for reasons to hate them - I bet the video creator has done plenty of awful things in his life that he wouldn't want to reflect on his present-day self. People need to stop caring about the personal lives of celebrities, it has absolutely NOTHING to do with you and it strongly indicates that you can't think of anything better to do, which is unbelievably pathetic. Try reading a book or actually educating yourself on something that MATTERS. This guy has poisoned his mind with consumerist pop culture like all these other self-absorbed RU-vidrs who think they're some kind of "intellectual" performing "criticism" on the most mass-market mainstream products conceivable. He's a goddamn talk show host, he DOES NOT warrant such spurious "analysis", and he's clearly good enough at that job to retain it for such a long time - if he doesn't appeal, just watch something else, it's not like he's being shoved down your throat (and if he is, it's because you watch commercial television and that's entirely your fault).

How this man has a career is baffling. On SNL all he ever did was break during skits with actually funny people. I guess I gotta give him his props for getting paid for all these years of literally nothing but existing

Never liked him much, but he's a skilled impressionist, particularly singers. His best talk-show bits are the "games" he invents to showcase this talent.

I've always fluctuated between him either breaking character on purpose...to direct the attention towards himself or him having an actual "disorder" and he just laughs at every fucking thing uncontrollably 😂

He’s attractive and has crafted an appealing and non-threatening public persona. Probably also knows the right people.

I personally know someone in the high-end celebrity transportation business, who says that Jimmy Fallon was one of their most congenial and gracious clients, even inviting them to his home upon occasion.

jimmy covers it decently well with the sound effects of the audience laughing so it doesnt seem like hes crazy and the only one laughing.

This has always been the way Fallen acts. On SNL he rarely made it through a sketch without laughing.

It's not about hating Jimmy, even though some people do, but that's theirs. It's about recognizing that he and many other hosts and, by the way, a lot of people in society, not just hosts, are putting on a facade, which is a shame because Jimmy is certainly a great person but at the same time too insecure to be authentic but instead, and I don't blame him for that, he constantly needs confirmation from others. It's not a crime, of course not, but it's about recognizing it.

At this point Jimmy Fallon is more of a RU-vid personality than a late night host - his audience is now mainly children. He has to pander to that. Wtf do you expect him to do?@@AliasSchmalias

@@c4ctusc4ctusc4ctus First of all I don't expect anything from him. "He has to pander to that." Does he? What happens if he doesn't? Will he then die or be unhappy for the rest of his life? Do you notice something?

Very good video. I just want to say something about HR. They never are for the employees. Their objective is to protect the company and do damage control. At least, that's what I observed when I worked at Lowe's.

100% HR is there only to protect the company from liability and such. It's in the name - they view people as just resources.
