Russell M. Nelson is a man of God and as such offered a solution given by revelation not guilt, love not hate, sameness not difference. Let’s pray the critical race theory will die a quick death and we as a nation, a people, a church can move forward together.

What are you talking about, are we a nation or are we together with the N double A CP? Can't be both. The definition of "nation" is: 1- an aggregation of persons of the same ethnic family, speaking the same language or cognate languages. Well that doesn't really fit. How about definition 2? 2- a body of people associated with a particular territory who are sufficiently conscious of their unity to seek or possess a government peculiarly their own. Well that sure doesn't fit. Definition 3? 3- A member tribe of an Indian confederation. That's pretty much the opposite. "Nation" etymologically comes from Latin "nātio" meaning Race, people, birth, Like the word "Natal" It doesnt matter how much money we give them, how much preferential treatment. We're competing organisms. We either segregate or engage in conflict until we are assimilated or destroyed. When you plant a garden you don't throw all the seeds into the same spot, the plants would not thrive. When you make a nice dinner, you don't throw all the ingredients into a blender. Segregation is what preserves unique and desirable traits. It's why God confounded the languages and scattered his people several times. Being in lockstep with the global secret combinations and their long standing genocidal conquest against Europeans is a really bad look for the church.

“Do not, brethren, put your trust in man though he be a Bishop, an apostle or a president; if you do, they will fail you at some time or place; they will do wrong or seem to, and your support will be gone; but if we lean on God, He will NEVER fail us. When men and women depend upon GOD ALONE and trust in HIM ALONE, their faith will not be shaken if the highest in the Church should step aside” (George Q. Cannon, DW 43:322 [Mar 7, 1891]).

I wonder why the body of the church actually believes that all decisions made as a business and corporation for profit support itself makes all decisions based on Revelation. If that is your litmus test for ALL decisions then your testimony will not stand with the decisions of the historical wrongdoing and the present or the future. For some reason many believe ALL prophets have seen Christ. Just not the case. Put your testimony in what you know. Not what you HOPE that is true.

As a woman who was born and raised in Africa, I began watching you show this morning with the thought in mind that it would be nice (and the right thing), if the NAACP would denounce CRT. After listening to the quotes you shared, I feel completely satisfied that the NAACP desire to unite all peoples and that they don’t support CRT which is a scourge upon America The Beautiful. Thank you Greg for this wonderful show today, my heart is filled with love, understanding and compassion because of what you taught me and I now feel without a doubt the church is doing the right thing building a partnership with the NAACP.
@digitalpressworks
@digitalpressworks 3 года назад
I'm sorry to be skeptical, but while the NAACP was started on good principles, many of it's members do embrace CRT and the organization itself has engaged in quite a bit of ethically questionable behavior. They have been running what amounts to a race extortion racket for decades. "Give us money or we will call you out as racists." Would the NAACP be so friendly and kind toward the Church if they weren't forking over millions of dollars? Probably not. But the Church does get something for their money, which is cover in a hyper racist social environment. So maybe it is a good decision, but I do worry that they are making a deal with the devil.

@@CwicShow I believe that this is more of an insurance policy than anything else, whether or not Church leaders recognize it as such. Before the whole George Floyd thing happened, this relationship was already established between the Church and the NAACP. So when many places were being targeted and destroyed, the temples and churches were left untouched (at least to my knowledge). I'm sure that Church leaders didn't know exactly why this relationship was necessary at the time, only that the Lord prompted them to do it. It reminds me of Mormon's words in Words of Mormon 1:7 - "And I do this for a wise purpose; for thus it whispereth me, according to the workings of the Spirit of the Lord which is in me. And now, I do not know all things; but the Lord knoweth all things which are to come; wherefore, he worketh in me to do according to his will." In 20/20 hindsight, it all worked out perfectly ... perfectly planned. So that's my opinion and belief. Furthermore, I was worried that with the Church's history of Blacks and the Priesthood, that the Church would be an easy target with all that's been going on. But, to me, it seems that this very well-timed relationship has proven to be very, very wise.
@CwicShow
@CwicShow 3 года назад
@@digitalpressworks While I agree that this could be an "insurance policy", I don't think it is. Maybe I'm wrong, but the language said something different to me. Not that this is all "kumbaya" here. But there may be something at the end of the rainbow.
@digitalpressworks
@digitalpressworks 3 года назад
@@CwicShow Church leaders may have what they believe is their reasoning for forming this relationship, but, as you know, the Lord has a way of putting thoughts into our minds that lead us to achieving His purposes, even when we can't see the full picture, which is most of the time, even for prophets, as pointed out beautifully by Mormon. And based on the outcome of what we've seen thus far (or haven't seen), I believe that at least one of the Lord's purposes was met in all of this ... to protect the Church in these last days. And perhaps there is more that will be revealed in the future as to why this relationship is necessary.
@digitalpressworks

@@CwicShow Also, I like your Book of Mormon reference to "... nor any manner of -ites ..." It's interesting to see things playing out today just as they did in the Book of Mormon and lately I've thought a lot about 4 Nephi 1 : 26 where, after 200 years of peace since the Savior's visit here, "... they began to be divided into classes ..." With everything going on today, I find that extremely telling! I think a lot about what President Hinckley said about the Book of Mormon: "Its narrative is a chronicle of nations long since gone. But in its descriptions of the problems of today’s society, it is as current as the morning newspaper and much more definitive, inspired, and inspiring concerning the solutions of those problems." I also think of Joseph Smith's prophecy that, in the last days, there would be more and more evidence coming forth, proving the Book of Mormon to be true. I used to think that meant archeological finds and that sort of thing. And while that is true here in North America as of late, I'm seeing something else as things play out today. The Book of Mormon has come alive for me in a way that it never has before as we are witnessing today the very things spoken of in there. For example, until it started coming under fire in the United States, I never realized just how many times the word "liberty" is mentioned in the Book of Mormon. It's really amazing! And, yes, more proof that the Book of Mormon is, indeed, true! I've been reading a lot about Amalickiah lately and how he pitted people against one another (enmity) so that he could rise to power. And, as we see, this is THE "secret combination" as it has played out over and over again throughout history ... and into today. Hence, the reason why Critical Race Theory is so destructive!
@micmacc2014
@micmacc2014 3 года назад
Providing scholarships to higher education is just introducing people to critical race theory. Institutions of higher learning are notorious for pushing and advocating for critical race theory. I would think helping people get into fields of service industries and technical industries would be a far better way to spend that money. Universities are way overrated. They are almost antiquated.

Thank you so much for this. I was also touched as our church joined with the Black 14 Philanthropy in 2020 to assist underserved communities. Mel Hamilton, a member of that group and this partnership was a long time member of our community in Casper, WY, working in the schools here. It was such a wonderful thing to see that those deep and troubling times have come away these decades later with healing and a love of coming together to help and serve our brothers and sisters who are in true need. I remember President Hinckley's address to the National Press Club in March 2000, where he enumerated the many ways our church humanitarian efforts serve throughout the world, often unnoticed by the world. I'm thankful to know that we have inspired leaders who are doing what they can to bring peace and safety and freedom to the people of this world.

Yeah did u not watch the meeting? This was to help the naacp educate their youth to build up beautiful minds wherever they may be. This isnt nelson supporting lgbtq movements and such. This is the church which is not infallible trying to do what christ would do. To build bridges and communities on a shared belief that jesus is the christ is not unchrist like and if u support the above outline initiatives they will not keep u out of the house of god. Can an lgbtq person have a personal relationship with god? Look at david archuleta if u want to bring it home. Cmon man we just gotta love our brothers and sisters build on common ground. This initiative wont open the temple to anyone who does not obey everyword that proccedth forth from the mouth and mouthpieces of god. Churches are built as hospitals for the soul. The temple is where the soul goes when it is made whole by the great physician. The lds are the only sect with the veil this initiative will only strengthen the bonds of the eternities and lead us to the seperation that will take place when all men stand to be judged whether their works be good or evil. It wont be a temple reccomend interview i promise u that admits u into exaltation. The church is learning and growing as it should. U may see a change in what ur asked to enter the house of god. Thats not necessarily a bad thing. Were all here if we have the ears to hear to hear. Nelson is a remarkable man who is doing remarkable things continuing the legacy of Hinckley by building the kingdom and monson by peopleing it with the love of god and all men. He has seen it and if we do not catch the spirit of zion and let god prevail we might not ever behold what he has seen. Hold tight through the bumps our destination is serene and secure. U can support the naacp and its initiatives within the African community while disagreeing on other aspects of the organization. Especially when it comes to the initiatives centered around the oneness we all desire. If ye are not one ye are not mine. Grow up or you will grow out. Why do lds have such a hard time following the mouthpieces of god? Its been that way since ol joe dug those plates out of the ground. 200 years later and were still asking dumb questions sorrounding zion and the kingdom of god on earth...sigh. Sometimes i question gods judgment tbh. He must really love us to trust us with the keys of the kingdom. I honestly dont think we will ever learn to turn them and unlock the treasures of heaven that are laid up in store.

I’ve been struggling extremely hard lately with our leadership, for many reasons, including this partnership and the scamdemic. I watched the full 27 min video you’re referencing, just before watching your show here. Funny, I felt the same way you did after though. I’m a little better and more at peace. It’s still EXTREMELY difficult for me to like the NAACP (and especially Derrick Williams), because of their severe divisiveness (ex: suit against DJT and RG, per the so-called “Capitol Riots”; disproved in watching DJT full speech there, watching many personal cell vids live and later, and the crushing evidence against the d€€p st8 since, including the joke 2nd impeachment), their support for abortion and civil-suits against pro-life orgs, etc. However, I’m glad you pointed out that it doesn’t mean the church politically aligns with that group, only they have at least a couple shared goals for good; so they teamed up on it (like you, I agree with the initiatives). Tbh, the NAACP needs the Church MUCH more than the Church needs them. However, it seems extremely apparent that the church and many black individuals in the long game will benefit immensely! It’s clear and apparent that while guided immensely by the Spirit, Nelson and the Church are taking a page from Sun Tzu on this (with their own ‘Christ-centered’ flavors and sauce of course). One last point: your pointing out that this is a much better plan than CRT, is on the money; I think you nailed it. I very much enjoyed your video and your thoughts and points, they’ve helped to concur how the Nelson / Amos video made me feel better. Thank you!! 🙏

Of the various initiatives, the adoption of the Self Reliance Series coursework is by far the most valuable. It changes hearts. It has been used in Africa and Latin America to build communities - through building independance. The NAACP, even though more left than may are comfortable with, is based on liberal race theory (not liberal as in Democrat, but the more literal definition) which is more aligned with the Christ-like ideal of loving your neighbor. While they get pulled into the progressive movement (unfortunately it's impossible to avoid), they are still not a progressive dminated group. And they still have a lot of say in the community. We can argue with the BLM all day long, and the wokesters outside (and in the Church) will dig in and call us all racists. But by doing the end run around them, it allows us to build a relationship and prove otherwise to those still willing to think. Without these bridges, we could never get in the door with the Self Reliance Series training. With that, we can undermine the CRT philosophy and offer real help to these communities that are hurting so much.

What makes you think people are looking at the color of the skin to decide if this donation is good or not? Are we not allowed to judge the NAACP by their fruits -- being against school choice (forcing black kids to attend failing schools is systemic racism), being against voter ID (putting a black face on voter fraud is system racism), being pro-abortion (also systemic racism since blacks are the most aborted babies), never supporting black conservatives like Justice Thomas when he is attacked, and where was the NAACP when Trump and Tim Scott were doing opportunity zones? The NAACP itself was a bit critical of the Church for not doing enough until they reached this agreement. Seems like a shakedown. When these promised donations are over, are we going to see results or demands for more money? The NAACP has been around longer than I have been alive and has been complaining about the same problems. If they were able to fix anything, we'd see some progress by now. I have some serious doubts they are ever going to "solve' problems as long as the donations keep pouring in.

Just a thought: I don't like to use the word "proud". I would like to think, I'm "well-pleased" with President Nelson. (Like Heavenly Father introducing his Son and saying he was "well pleased".) According to President Ezra Taft Benson, there is no such thing as righteous pride in the scriptures. For every godly principle, there is a satanic counterfeit. These counterfeits are seldom polar opposites; in fact, they often resemble the righteous principles, with just a few small differences. When one considers the world's teaching of "anti-racism", and compares it with the church's actions here, they do indeed seem very similar - but at the same time, meaningfully different. I never hurts to let the world see the true meaning of Christlike love in action.

Critical Race Theory isn't about white guilt. It is an education, learning about history, and learning about the progress made over decades, yet there is still systemic racism. Looking at Statistics, we know that black people are pulled over more often than white, and when thy are pulled over, the white driver and passengers often have a very different experience4 than the black driver and passengers. It's called "driving while black" when a black man drives through Beverly Hills or in Long Beach, two places known for pulling cars over for driving while black. I knew these two guys and the white driver was going to Long Beach and our mutual black friend wanted to go with him, but the white guy said, No, because he always gets pulled over by police when the black friend is in the car. To make matters worse, our friend wore a hoodie a lot, and when outside he puts the hood up because he thinks he is less visible that way, but in fact, it makes him look suspicious to cops. Not all cops, of course. A black man and a white man are before a judge and for the exact same thing and neither has a record of any kind. A white guy gets probation and has to take a class on ... speeding or jaywalking or something, black guy gets 15 days in jail and a big fine. A black family is being harassed by a racist neighbor, so they call the police. The police arrive and the white lady gets out to greet them first so when the cops get to the door of the black family, they treat the black family like they are the ones doing the harassing. Remember when there were protests in Michigan over the pandemic, and they blocked traffic and some kind of medical professional was in his car trying to get to work and all traffic is delayed. so, later that day, Trump tweeted that their Second Amendment rights are under threat, so the next day protesters show up with AR15s and the like and they force their way into Michigan's capitol building and the police step aside and they burst onto the balcony over the legislators below hard at work. Imagine how scary that must have been to hear a bang, and you look around and there are all these guys in paramilitary clothing with assault weapons obnoxiously loud. What did the police say? Oh, they were just exercising their Second Amend. Rights. When a cop pulled a black man over with his wife or girlfriend in the back seat with their little baby, and the cop asks for ID, the black driver says he has to get it out of his back pocket, but he is carrying a gun and has a license to carry, and he asked would you like me to remove that and give it to you until we're done. The officer said, yes, so the black driver is moving very slowly and telling the policeman exactly what he is doing, and as he was pulling the gun out in a non-threatening way, the white cop pulls out his gun, screaming like a little girl and likely pissed himself, and fired several rounds at close range into this black driver, killing him. The mom in the back seat is screaming because she is terrified, and she just saw the dad of the kid murdered right in front of her. The entire time, she was live-streaming on Facebook. Black people, especially males, get treated differently when pulled over. I got pulled over in Los Angeles, and the cop told me I had a tail light out, walked back to his car, then came back, asked me to pop my that hatch on my Honda Accord Hatchback, and I did, and he replaced my burned out light with a brand new one. Maybe he would have done that for a black man too, I don't know. The point is, in general, lack people are still greeted with racism now and again, like being followed around a store by employees. When the TV miniseries ROOTS came out, my dad was transferred to Barksdale AFB in Bossier City, Louisiana, and it was a culture shock for me because I didn't understand what the racial tension was about, as I had a black friend in Kindergarten at Beale, AFB, and we had a black neighbor who was also an officer like my dad. And, so my mom explained a bit about the Civil Rights, and how my parents had lived in Arkansas on base in the 1950s and she told me some stories. She said the first time a black woman and her child stepped off the sidewalk into the gutter as my mom passed them, she almost vomited because the racist laws made her sick and she hated living there. A friend came to visit, they went shopping and the friend went to look for a drinking fountain when my mom heard her screaming, WHAT THE HELL IS WHITE WATER ONLY? She was a flight attendant and been to many places in the world, and she hadn't experienced that either, and she was livid and in tears from anger. So, while living in Louisiana (I loved our Big French Colonial Revival house on base - the first house you see from the North Gate and directly across the street were tennis courts with lights for playing at night, and the Officer's club adjacent to that and across a street. So, Roots came on TV... good timing for me to learn more. And, we watched every minute of every episode as a family, and my parents would try to answer any questions we may have had. Did that make me depressed and have white guilt? No, I was born in Texas (Amarillo AFB, TX) in 1963 and I was about three months old when Kennedy was assasinated. So, I was very young at the time but do remember seeing demonstrations on the news for Civil Rights. Later on my favorite show was "Julia" starring Diahann Carrol, the first black woman to be the lead of her own TV series in prime time. She played a nurse raising her boy who seemed about my age and I think the dad was killed in a war or something... but I thought Julia was so beautiful... and she was. I also thought Nichelle Nichols as Lt. Uhura on Star Trek was very beautiful too... and she was. The point is, KNOWLEDGE IS POWER... the power to not let history repeat itself, but some of these parents are worried their lily-white snowflake children will be upset to learn about slavery. Good. Everyone should be upset by slavery, but we need to know about it to grow as a society that rejects bigotry and racism. These parents don't want to control their kid's education as much as they want to control EVERYONE's kids and what they can and can't learn about. Arm kids with knowledge. It is similar to abstinence-only for "sex education" - the Bristol Palin face of Abstinence-Only (kept getting pregnant) came about because4 these people think sex education teaches kids how to have sex. It doesn't. It teaches about the science of reproduction and casts aside myths like, you can't get pregnant the first time you have sex... I would want my kids to be armed with the knowledge, just in case they do end up in a situation, they will know how NOT to get pregnant. Keeping knowledge from your kids, like history and reproduction, makes me think that these parents want to send their kids out in the world ignorant. I believe that part of our purpose on Earth is to learn as much as we can, so I don't understand keeping the truth from kids. And, for the millionth time, CTR is NOT taught in public schools. It is a college course based on research. People are afraid of the truth. That, to me, is really sick. CTR and being woke" means that you have learned the truth that black (and other people of color) are still discriminated against. Not talking about race issues, does not make anything go away and doesn't assist in growth and improvement. It also isn't racist to acknowledge racism exists. Guess what republicans, the white nationals and Proud Boys, and ALL the right-wing extremist groups vote the same way you do, for the same politicians. I wouldn't want to be rubbing elbows with someone in a KKK robe as we vote for the same things. KNOWLEDGE IS POWER. WITHHOLDING KNOWLEDGE IS LYING, AND LYING IS AN ABOMINATION.

Then they just lose their minds when God inspires His church to work alongside those who are seemingly opposed to that political agenda. God said in no uncertain terms that it is His work and glory "to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man." There are so many positive directions that the stated intentions will create, modify, and beautify. However, there is one interesting thing that, until now, I have never seen in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Not that it’s never been done, but I’ve never seen it done. The announcement of this social endeavor was made from the pulpit of a Sacrament meeting. Our church policies are specifically designed to keep clear of any possible conflicts in the public spaces. We do not advocate our social positions so blatantly. As Greg pointed out, he takes flack from both sides. Again, I applaud the move. This did not happen overnight. But it might have been better presented if it was announced in a more public space. I am not the prophet. I am not saying this was a bad move. But I am saying that it’s a new move that I’ve got concerns about. Will this open the door to more “forward thinking” people who may wish to draw people to their causes? We can’t be so naive to think that might not happen. Again, I applaud the message as it does the exact opposite of CRT. Sending people to Africa might open the eyes of many people to what true oppression looks like. We need more of that kind of education here.

The Church could NOT take on the slavery/black issue after coming out West . The Church was also pretty mainstream when it gave Blacks the priesthood . I am not defending anything just giving historical insight . Then so be it, we should own it, don't spin or sugar coat the issue, as LDS we just need to own it, understand it, repent and move forward. If we say things are always the way they are meant to be, then isn't that an excuse to not try to do better? Look before you leap is the old adage. It's like saying well, mass shootings are meant to because they just are and there's nothing we can do to change the circumstances. Which is the old Calvinist type teaching that all of life is predestined (fated) and there is nothing we can do to alter its course. I don't think that flys because the experience in other countries other than the US with stricter gun control where mass shootings are very rare. From a conservative standpoint, this is a lot closer to what President Trump did for African Americans than to what the current administration does and a certain Barack Obama did--not much besides dangerous rhetoric and refusal to condemn bitter divisiveness. We must all learn from the past, whether we were involved or not. Books will continue to be written and movies will continue to be made about the history of the United States and the sufferings of various groups. You can't say there have been enough movies and books about slavery in the US, about the underground railroad, about the Civil Rights era, about the Jewish Holocaust, about the Khmer Rouges, etc., any more than you can stop Latter-Day Saints from writing and filming Church history which includes persecutions against the Saints. “Those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” I add that those who do not attempt to learn about the past cannot learn anything from or about it. See D&C 83:6 White men are the only students without a race based scholarship, girls can get one for mediocre sports ( because of a quota to keep up with men’s sports) or if they are unwed mothers.

The title kind of scared me...maybe remove the CRT from the title? Doesn't sound like it (CRT) has anything to do with this relationship 🙂. I was a little shaken after learning of what's going on at BYU ☹. Glad that my tithing will help support this...very positive

I listened to a previous video by this person that mocked and vilified CRT. He said that CRT suggests that people who look like me should be willing to listen to the criticisms and complaints of people who have had a hard time, and he suggested that doing so would be anti-Christlike. I guess I disagree? I strongly feel like I have covenanted to mourn with those that mourn, and comfort those who stand in need of comfort. Overall, I don’t feel like the presenter has studied CRT well enough to vilify it. I’m not sure that he understands what critical means. And I don’t think that what President Nelson has done as President of our Church is at odds with or a rejection of CRT. I see a desire to reduce injustice to be 100 percent aligned with the character of Christ.

First of all, I don't care one crap what these people SAY about President Nelson or the church. Who wouldn't say nice things about a man/church who gave them loads of money. What Amos does and supports, I don't support. Let's see who holds up their end of the "partnership". We do not have anything to make amends for. Zion is not one sided. I feel like you're saying, it's our job to love and their job to forgive, that's the "partnership" that happened. It's disturbing. We do not need forgiveness. A partnership would be them giving 2 million dollars to the missionary fun over x amount of years. Or some such exchange. We in the church have a mentality of give give give and I love that about us, but that is not a "partnership" and it is not zion. I am 100% on board with the love and unity this event promotes. I'm great with donating money. I'm not okay with the pageantry the pomp, they media attention surrounding this. I'm not ok with the apologetics. The "we have sinned and must ask your forgiveness" assumptions. I'm just confused your justifications and interpretation.
@Lifeispainjesusisjoy
@Lifeispainjesusisjoy 3 года назад
Ok I have one more thing to say. If the prophet came out and said, "by inspiration, I make this donation and partnership." And that was all he said that would be enough for me. I dispute/disapprove of the pageantry of this circumstance. I dislike the pandering. I dislike the assumption we need to be forgiven. It feels false. It feels inauthentic. And I think those of us with a bull-crap radar that has been primed and honed by the current and passed political propaganda got a little set off by this.

@@Lifeispainjesusisjoy Even if you feel so bothered by this act, might I say that giving to others and reaching out to those who feel wronged is just the kind of thing that Christ would do. He didn't 'partner' with us when preforming His Atonement - it was a gift. Even if you very much disagree with certain people, a few scriptures come to mind: "But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;" And: "16 And also, ye yourselves will succor those that stand in need of your succor; ye will administer of your substance unto him that standeth in need; and ye will not suffer that the beggar putteth up his petition to you in vain, and turn him out to perish. 17 Perhaps thou shalt say: The man has brought upon himself his misery; therefore I will stay my hand, and will not give unto him of my food, nor impart unto him of my substance that he may not suffer, for his punishments are just- 18 But I say unto you, O man, whosoever doeth this the same hath great cause to repent; and except he repenteth of that which he hath done he perisheth forever, and hath no interest in the kingdom of God. 19 For behold, are we not all beggars? Do we not all depend upon the same Being, even God, for all the substance which we have, for both food and raiment, and for gold, and for silver, and for all the riches which we have of every kind?" And to quote Elder Holland and the Hymn: "I also know that although I may not be my brother’s keeper, I am my brother’s brother, and “because I have been given much, I too must give.”"

The world has drastically changed since I was young. We now live in a day when people refuse to find common ground but demand others agree with us or we will cut them off. It is now seen as admirable to firmly refuse to compromise our integrity by working together for the betterment of mankind with those holding some different ideologies. This is the opposite of the gospel of Christ. This thinking is divisive instead of Zion's open arms. The press conference was good because this kind of seeking for common ground needs light shed for an example to the world.

I totally understand what you're getting at, I have a political bull crap radar too. However, you may be misunderstanding the details of this partnership. This article may help: newsroom.churchofjesuschrist.org/article/first-presidency-naacp-shared-vision The partnership is about a few initiatives, not with the entire NAACP platform. From what I can tell, the NAACP narrows down who will benefit from the initiative while the Church donates the money needed. The church has probably given the NAACP certain guidelines on who can receive the benefits of the initiatives. Our Church is also a charity, so we shouldn't expect people to scratch our backs for scratching theirs, so to speak. Our leaders do their best to listen to God's guidance and put church funds into worthy humanitarian causes. NAACP is certainly a liberal leaning group, but when looking at what they are and do, they are a far cry from the leftist ideology of groups like BLM. I'm a little apprehensive about this too, but in such a case, let's pray for the Spirit's guidance and let's see what the fruit of this labor will be. God bless you, sister.

I also agree that sometimes even though optics look off sometimes you have to put all the crap to the side and reach out, who knows what doors will open. My outlook on the matter is this... things are going to get a lot worse in the near future so let’s build bridges and reach across the isle with love where we can. Why was Brigham Young chosen to become the president of the church? Joseph Smith was good to the blacks and even sold Emma's favorite horse to get money to free a slave. Brigham took the priesthood away from the blacks even though Joseph had given them the priesthood. I have such a hard time with Brigham and his shortcomings. He even preached his insane theory of Adam being God. If you or anyone out there can clear this up for me please do so. I do realize that it took a man like Brigham Young to get the Saints to Utah but good grief at what a cost.
@CwicShow

There is so much goodness in Brigham Young. I don't know the answer to your question. I do see similar issues happening with Peter and the Gentiles. There was a time for everything. To go from Joseph Smith who had visits from angels, saw the Gold Plates and more, visions of God the Father and Jesus Christ and revelator of most of the Doctrine and Covenants, to then move to someone else, anyone else, is a drastic change. I think Brigham did the best he could, but anyone can understand the hurt feelings as consequences of his guidance.

Early on Brigham's feelings were more in line with Joseph's, commenting favorably on black elders he knew. What gave him a blind spot you could drive a truck through, I don't know. Possibly having seen saints murdered for inviting blacks and native Americans to be instrumental in building Zion, he was reticent to continue the effort. Not a recommended activity in pre civil war Missouri. Rather than be angry at Brigham Young I have chosen to ask if there are bastions of ignorance in my own life, and yes there are.

OK, I hardly ever comment on these things, but just have to say - do you think the US government would have ever let the church grow at that time if they had black leadership? They had already been chased across the country for their beliefs... especially anti-slavery stances. I'm thinking the Saints would have been hounded and Utah would have never been a state. And then the church would have been stifled or sqashed altogether. The church had to be stabilized and allowed to grow in order to spread the gospel. Just my personal opinion of course.

Ironically, it seems that most of the problems come from white leftists. I don’t understand them, but it’s rather disgusting.
