I've had this same Laundry Alternative Spin Dryer (purchased from the Laundry Alternative in February 2015) and have used every other day for the past eight years. No issue still spins perfectly and is super fast. No issues with the motor or balancing. This has been the best purchase I have ever made for a laundry related appliance. It saves so much time with washing and hanging a shirt to dry in about 20-30 minutes after removing from the Spin Dryer. Super reliable build quality! Typical spin time I've always kept to is under 60 seconds, that's all that is ever needed!

I'm still using mine also! The safety lid broke in half a couple of years ago, but the spin dryer still works just fine!

Upon arrival, many (including myself) had difficulty getting the unit to spin because a bar is bolted shut at the bottom for shipping. The company will be inserting a notice that the bar attached to the bottom MUST be removed in order to spin. My laundry experience is forever changed & I'm thrilled! EVERYTHING spun for 2-3 minutes has 90% water removed. Company keeps prices down by email support and not paying someone to sit at the phone. After emailing, they responded promptly. GREAT MACHINE!

I have had this unit for about five years. It works like a charm.I liave in an apartment and I do virtually all of my laundry here. Once spun, even towels and sheets, even jeans, dry quickly. No drapes of laundry around the apartment for days waiting for clothes to dry. Yes, heavy items such as towels have to spun maybe two at a time. The unit it also great for washing and drying sweaters. So much water is extracted from a sweater that you can practically just hange it up to dry. No stretching and ruining the shape, which is caused by the weight of the water in the wool. The comment about the cost os electricity it totally off-base. the cost of spinning clothes to extract water for a minute or two is not comparable to the cost of heating air---basically, creating a hot wind---in a dryer in order to dry clothes. Dryers are a lot harder on one's clothes. That lint 9which can also start fires---that lint is your clothing, being damaged every time you put an item in the dryer. Over the years this spinner unit has saved me money not fed into an expensive laundromat, TIME (not having to drive to the laundromat), gas (not having to drive back and forth to the laundromat, saved my clothes---plus, also means that one doesn't have to have so many clothes because they can be washed and worn the same day or the next.

Used the mini spinner for over three years; did a great job! It does make a difference in the electric bill, especially on the A/C when it's in the 100s! I like to hang my clothes out, then tumble them in the dryer for a few minutes. I suppose it might have lasted longer if I hadn't let it spin itself off the counter. It ran another year after it did that. I'm getting ready to buy the bigger version. I like the idea of a larger load at a higher speed.

This is s wonderful product as most of us don't have a washer with a high rpm cycle. Even if this spin dryer only gets the clothes "almost dry", the amount of moisture left is so minimal that simply hanging the clothes on a hanger or putting the clothes on a conventional dryer for only a few minutes can dry the clothes. The power draw of the spin motor is a lot lower than the one of a conventional dryer that has a tumble motor and heating elements. Energy savings are significant....so if it works why not...
@deezer161
@deezer161 3 года назад
I have a similar one its great.. It spins most clothes almost dry in three minutes and heavy towels need five minutes. You should not run it longer than that and rest the motor then for five minutes. To be safe plug into a wall socket not an extension lead ( mine has that advice) I plug it out to stop it most times and let it wind down to a stop... To save the wear on the brakes lol and prolong the life... You do need a basin rather than a small bowl to catch the water and it will rock and be real noisy if the load is not evenly spread out and compressed level with the flexible safety disc thing... Have mine a few years now wish I had one 15 years ago well worth it...

This is a great video... These spin dryers are NOT made to DRY your clothes completely, They are made to extract a great amount of water leaving the clothing Damp dry, so when clothes are hung out, they will dry pretty fast... Now some models are better than others, and price will very.... I myself prefer the Panda washer with the spinner.

We wouldn't consider it a frivolous item. It fits some lifestyles well, others don't find a need for it. Spinning an item longer has it's limitations, the spin speed is also very important. Some people line dry, and if it's not too rainy/damp, and time or space is not an issue, it's a valid option. For example if you live in Arizona and line dry, there's no need for it. On the other hand if you live in a rainy/humid climate, or in an apartment with nowhere to line dry, it can be very helpful.

I have the older version of this. You would not believe how much water is still in your clothes after a spin in a regular washer!! When i use the spin dryer I only have to put them in the dryer ( if I'm not line drying) for less than 20 minutes!!

"more may not always better" I read one comment on a similar machine that stated the spin is actually too fast, too quickly, and that the result was that shirt material was becoming damaged (sharp edges in the basket holes??), buttons were getting damaged, and wrinkles were more pronounced resulting in additional ironing time to remove. He sounded convincing saying that europeans were way ahead of Americans in research . I bought his arguement, an just ordered a similar spinner... one that spins at 1800 rpm, figuring that is enough to do the job.
@ctournet
@ctournet 8 лет назад
The comments about our unit or anyone else's damaging clothing is simply untrue. Spin dryers are and old and proven technology, just not very well known in the USA.
@ctournet
@ctournet 7 лет назад
Unless you get crazy with the RPM's, say go to 3600 or something, wrinkling is not an issue. There is a case of diminishing returns, i.e. once you get to a certain speed, there is little to no water that can be removed by increasing the speed. Also, unless it's a horrible factory no unit is going to put holes in clothes etc. Some cheaply made mini washing machines can do this, if not designed properly- we've confirmed this through lab testing.

I wash my delicates cloths by hand and spin dry them on the spin cicle of my washer machine, been doing it forever and have no problems, its the drum in the washing cicle that damage cloths. Try Washing a delicate cloth by hand, then spin dry it in your washer machine, you will see how it comes ok. I will like to purchase one of this for small items.
@ctournet

Spin dryers don't create holes. Our units are not 3500 rpm and even if they were, they would not create holes. If you are getting holes, you may want to check the mini washer, not the spin dryer. We can't speak for this product, however we have tested some mini washers which damage clothes (because they have an impeller with an RPM of up to 380, which is fine for spinning, but much too rough for washing). We actually decided not to carry an otherwise very interesting product for this reason.

1. Clothes protector replacements are online in the miscellaneous product category (we can't put the link here due to RU-vid restrictions). 2. They don't cause holes. One guy is running around the Internet promoting this theory. It's a complete non-issue; even at much higher RPM's like 3600, which we've tested, you still can't create holes in the clothes. The clothes would need to be punctured in some way for holes to form.
@BroccoliBeefed

Even if what you say is true, it still seems like a frivolous item. The law of physics would lead one to conclude, the longer an item spins, the higher the water extraction I just hang some of my items on a line and put a fan in front of it or don't use a fan at all. There, problem solved. Energy saved. And it didnt' cost 100 dollars. I have enough clothes to last me 2 months, before I need to do laundry, thank you.

Neither, we are talking about the speed of the impeller washer on mini washing machines, not the spin dryer speed. With these types of washers, it can be helpful to use a mesh bag to prevent damage to the clothes, because the fast impeller and tangling can cause fabric damage.

My new spinner started already making "clunking" sounds. I emailed the company but no response so far. Today I discovered a loose part underneath the spinner and when I lifted the spinner up an other loose sound was moving around at the bottom of the device. Had to remove plastic grill where the three feet are attached to. Once opened I found a loose bold and a loose metal ring shaped as a cup. This ring is supposed to be the "brake" of the spinner. No wonder I couldn't quickly stop the spinning cycle. Fortunately I was able to re attach all the loose parts and give the spinner a test run. Works and brakes perfectly. Unfortunately the email I sent to the company was returned as undeliverable. Btw, the spinner (on the bottom) says that max rotation is 3000 rpm. NOT 3200 rpm as advertised by the company.

I agree with jbooks888 concerning the incorrect number for rpms put out by the conventional washers. As for the spin dryer - I've had mine for almost 2 years and absolutely LOVE this thing and shocked at the amount of clothes it holds. It actually does better with the tub completely packed as opposed to just partially filled. Partial loads tend to often make it off balance. Mine is used on a table to make it high enough to place a 3 gallon bucket beneath to catch the water. It's crazy how much water is pulled from clothes.

They do not dry well enough though, conventional dryers do the same thing just apply heat so they dry much much better. That is why people in North America use them. If you use a clothesline, this would make sense. Spin dry then hang dry and it will be done much faster.
@TripleCharged
@TripleCharged 4 года назад
@@ruserious9577 I've got no clue why I commented on this 7 years ago, but I can still say that a spin dryer with no heat will never fully dry something. If you want to be energy conscious and do it this way great, but if you want a lot of clothes dried quickly a tumble dryer with heat is basically required.

Actually your points are mostly incorrect. It removes much more water than the majority of washing machines in the USA. Only a small percentage (under 30% spin at 1000 RPM or more). This video is falsely claiming that conventional washers spin at 450rpm. I have never seen a washing machine slower than 800rpm and my front loader is 1400rpm. Still, 3200 rpm is an extremely fast spin speed, so they didn't need to exaggerate the figures to make theirs sound better.

jbooks888 Thanks for the helpful feedback. Do you have any particular models we could discuss? Just FYI, we don't feel a need to exaggerate...actually one of the main marketing challenges is to not overstate what the products do, so people have realistic expectations. Because if the products don't meet expectations, we get costly returns and negative feedback online.

Corey Tournet Well, as a matter of fact, I recently bought the larger 5.5 kg model of this spinner - it;s casing is stainless steel - and it hold a fair amount - about 5 or 6 towels, depending on the size. I love this machine. It is scary how fast it gets up to. Takes about 30 seconds to wind up to full speed if you have a full load of wet towels, and in another minute or so, virtually all of the water is out of your washing. I would recommend this to anyone who does a lot of washing and dries them in a tumbler.
@esqueue
@esqueue 10 лет назад
jbooks888 This isn't directed to you jbooks888 With a basic understanding of physics. high rpm doesn't always mean better. The typical household washer has a much larger diameter. Even spinning at a lower rpm, the outer portion may be going the same speed. The circumference speed of the wheel or barrel is what matter. I'll use a tire speed calculator to show some examples. 9.5" is the diameter of the spin dryer and I'll use 30 inch for a front loader. At 3200 rpm and a diameter of 9.5" The speed of the circumference is 90.4 MPH. At 800 RPM a 30" washer tub's circumference would be clocked at 71.4 MPH while at 1400 RPM it would be 124.9 MPH. The larger barrel would mean that the clothes have more surface area and would be closer to the outer wall. 3200 is impressive but they should stop comparing it to conventional washing machine speeds as they aren't fair comparisons. Don't mistake me for a naysayer, I just don't like unfair comparisons. I am actually looking for one of these used at a more reasonable price.

$100 a year savings is hardly anything to do Donny and Marie spin dances about, especially if they clothes are not going to be completely dry at the end of the process. Most people would rather just stick them in the dryer or hang them up to line dry without the extra fuss

Jbooks888, I don't know if you are still following this thread as it is several months old, but I just ordered the Wonder Wash with the crank handle. There's another washer with the same name that's electric. It's blue, and swishes back and forth on a stand. That has to be confusing when searching for the washer that's nonelectric. Anyway, I'm interested in getting the larger spin dryer that you bought. How is it performing? Where did you get yours?

The trick is "nearly dry", meaning you still have to hang them up to dry. No real savings here, your still using electricity to spin. Wow, holds one towel at a time, really a waste of electricity to use it. Oh, and so cheap, $145.00 plus tax and shipping/handling. You are also almost rude in your defensive comments. So I expect to get some of that from you.

It holds several per load, not one. Our job here is to just convey the facts, so people can make an educated decision on whether it's right for them. If something is factually incorrect we do see a need to correct it, because many people rely on these discussions to make educated purchasing decisions. It's meant in a respectful tone.

For me, I have to use a coin-operated washer and dryer at my apartment. To wash and dry one load, it costs $3.25! And that's IF the dryer doesn't eat my quarters costing an additional $1.50. Sometimes, the dryer doesn't even get them dry all the way so that's another $1.50 I have to pay if I want them fully dry. Usually I'll just hang dry them if that happens. It's so much cheaper to use a WonderWash(which I LOVE) and this dryer which I'm ordering today. :) I live in a studio so it's more efficient for me. Everyone has a different lifestyle, ya know?

Marca Fragili You make a good point but it's great for people who don't have a lot of room so it is useful in some aspects.

Do you understand what a spin dry is? It's the cycle on the washing machine that spins out all excess water. It's not meant to dry anything.
@BroccoliBeefed

No, the point is, this is stupid. This appliance doesn't do anything a washer's spin cycle can't do and it's a step adder, not step saver. Many washers spin at 1000 rpm or more. IF you want 3000 rpm, run the spin cycle 3 times. Spinning at 1000rpm for 3 to 5 minutes usually leaves the clothes satisfactorily damp for drying. 450 rpm like the video claims, applies to old technology 70s and 80s machines in the USA
