A game being prematurely called and the opponent turning it around is one of the best things in gaming. Never gets old.

I know "You can resign again" is a default taunt, but typing it out has the same energy as "You know I'm rich in resources"

I love the way iSit sends in this huge ball of villagers that just strip a whole area of resources in a short amount of time and then he runs away. He gives up map control but there's no resources to gain by the time he retreats. Such a fascinating strat

Watching red's anti-micro was just painful. The number of times "patrol in" would have wiped up iSit's navy... Ouch.

I think the ones that explore and practice strats outside the meta are not only a source of great entertainment, but they bring something special to the game. It gets really boring in pvp games when everyone follows the meta (especially strategy games). Alsooo you can't change the meta without playing outside the meta. I'm all for it

I'm hundreds of elo above Isit and yet, he is my spirit animal and hero, whenever playing one should ask, "what would Isit do?"

I love his confidence though.. he was in a pretty bad spot when he was told to resign.. and his response showed that he was super cool under pressure!! And his comeback was simly super amazing !! A true legend !! Haha loved it !!

28:37 building a lumber camp like this lets you automatically task a big group of vills to a woodline you're already chopping at, you can see all the vills that built it walk over to chop and don't drop it off at that faraway lumber camp, since there are already closer drop-off points for them to use. it's good for very quickly tasking idles when you're busy elsewhere, and you don't have to choose between individually tasking lumberjacks or clicking a group to a single tree and letting the AI figure it out while you aren't looking

Man that was tough for red. I think taking bad naval engagements while not retreating and not taking the gold doomed him. That gold on the middle island shouldn't have still been there.

You can't underestimate the importance of winning water on Migration. You have enough res on your starting Island to comfortably see you through to Imperial Age and make ton of docks and a huge navy. The middle can be a bit of a bait, usually if you win water it's easier to retake the middle, than to lose water and try and come back from the middle. Because if your opponent reaches Imp they can just use cannon galleons to take down your docks before you mass.

On your bad strat to have fun issue, I was fairly good at counter strike back in the day and would go pump shot gun or scout sniper riffle (weaker weapons) all the time to make it more of a challenge. For the opponent it gives them a fighting chance (scout vs AWP battles etc.) and no real harm.

Red traded so bad on water, his resource advantage is on the bottom of the sea.

That was awfully painful to watch. Red could have taken out blue at many points. He just took the worst engagements, never retreated, and never really sold enough food. He should have not spent that much on sargeants and should have just made three cannon galleons and then left it at that and invested everything into galleons and fireships and trebuchets.

This is one of those games where the shift in momentum and strategies employed are brilliant entertainment regardless of the elo.

Red threw this game away for sure. Red just relaxed when he thought he won. He didnt patrol sometimes. Also while having better water control he should have taken the vunerable woodlines including the wood on his small island. And what a waste red going into his own cannon galleons. Awareness of having over 10,000 food and dipping under 1000 wood then to 500 and not moving vills to wood. I felt very frustrated.

The moment when isit transports vils on the main land made me think of attack on titan when people leave shiganshina on ships

Those migration games! I once played one where I dropped some vills on an enemy island while we both were getting to the middle. My vills dropped a tower, and since enemy hadn't responded, built a castle there and captured his whole home island. Then he almost completely threw me into the water with organ guns. At the end I had two empty islands and one small peninsula with a woodline and we had a last decisive battle there: his organ guns and halbs against my khmer two-handed swordsman and light cavalry. My cavalry managed to loop around and strike organ guns in the rear while swordsmen gave a fight to the halbs. Meanwhile cannon galeons started bombarding his castles and TCs. He resigned, but it was very close. I think it's one of the most unpredictable maps. This was back and forth all the time. :)

Honestly, this mainly just illustrates how broken the spanish cannonships really are, at least on this map. Especially the part where Isit was stuck in his little corner with half a tree and some gold and nothing else. Cuz red literally couldn't force a single favourable engagement at that point, even ignoring the fact that he made some mistakes like refusing to retreat. There simply wasn't really any "good" option to pick. The only real option is to just throw troops into the meatgrinder and hope for the best. It didn't matter if he technically had more troops and resources, the continous bombard of those cannons is just absurdly powerfull and results in incredibly lobsided engagements. When he attacks over land the ships just shoot him to bits. If he tries to bring trebuchets, the ships shoots them before they get set up. There's basicly no safe space on the island, despite red controlling like 80% of the map. If he tries to attack over sea he needs to force himself through a cramped little bit, where the ships shoot him to bits. Hell, he can't even drop towers/castles and push forward like that, or even just to defend his backline, and just slowly take over the entire map with defense structures, because again, the cannon ships will shoot them to bits. The only thing he can do is to just spam ships and hope eventually he kills all of the cannon ships.

I'd say there are a lot of people who use the sitting strategy. The legend of iSit is that he actually wins.

Spanish cannon galleons never fired FAST. Their fire rate was always slow, but the projectile velocity was high so were very accurate. Still got shredded by a lot of different ships that had a higher fire rate.

I headcanon that iSit is Fatslob's grandson.

I'd love to see these two team up for a 2v2 migration.

at 45:09 right now, and I can't help but feel like if iSit could have spared just like 5 conqs at some point he'd be in a great spot. Would have cleared up the sergeants and handled the trebs without needing to expose the cannon galleons. Hoping iSit still pulls it off.

All red needed was to make more navy.. simply get tons of galeons and wouldve won so easily. He just lacks experience.
