Nippon Ichi holds *a competition within the studio for one of the dev's game idea pitch to become an actual game.* Their previous "indie" games were Yomawari and A Rose in the Twilight. Last year's winner was turned into this game. I really like that these things happen as a) In a big company, not every dev's wish to make a game of their own gets fulfilled. Ended up buying the digital version, and i love it. I want to grab the collectors edition for the story book.

If I had not found your channel, I never would have played nier games and gris, nor found out about Lost Soul Aside and many more games that have been released or have yet to come. So I thank you! You evolved my taste in video games .

Have you seen the "Storybook Edition" (Collectors Edition) of this game? It comes with a CD Sound track and a storybook with the story full of pictures.

I'm not gonna lie. This game also seems like it has a very calming and beautiful atmosphere to it. Just look at the background environments. The details seem very aesthetic in beauty and fantasy. Which can be comparable to a white noise putting me to sleep, actually. It reslly seems like something I'd want to enjoy playing at night before falling to sleep.

I strongly recommend getting the physical collector's edition that includes the actual storybook. Its binding is gorgeous and the art inside is just as whimsical and cute as it appears in the game. The soundtrack included is fine for what it is. I like the compositions, but each track is very short and they all sort of blend together. I was hoping for more interesting vocal tracks like the song by Akiko Shikata used in the trailer for the game.

So Disney's The Little Mermaid except instead of wanting to meet the prince after having previously saved him she wants to meet the princes out of guilt for accidentally mutilating him lol I dig it.

The one caveat with the game being extremely easy is the final level. It gets a bit more challenging towards the end, but the final level basically goes "HEY, WE'RE ACTUALLY GONNA MAKE YOU ABLE TO FAIL." Which makes sense in the story, but after being a leisurely stroll for the most part, it did somewhat catch me off guard and cause me a number of deaths. But a good review, and its very much a good, average game.

Game in a nutshell: "oops my bad lol."

I’m attracted to the visuals, but considering everything else that is coming out, there are a lot of great games, I dunno. The play time is good considering I don’t get as much game time as I use to and the game not being difficult isn’t bad either as I sometimes need to play a game that is super chill. But still, I dunno. Money and time is tight.

Amidst a slew of big-budget AAA titles, HD re-imaginings, ultra-violent gore fests, and shameless fan service... it's so nice to see that the industry still can bring us titles like this one. Sometimes you just need something more than boobs and blood, ya know?

A 6/10 game? Girl no, only for the concept art, the unique style, the music being in perfect harmony with every stage and the fact that they broke the old concept of the princess being always the one rescued the game deserves a 7,5/10 at least. You should rate games for what they are clearly made for but I guess each person has different points of view.

Honestly, I saw the name of this game and was expecting something...... not this. Like the princess leading the prince on and deceiving him. This is better.

The game might noy be hard by itself, but some of the achievements, or as the game calls them, trophies, are really tedious, especially the ones where you have to not hurt a single enemy for an entire level. I also wish you could be able to skip already seen cutscenes when you've already completed the levels they're associated with. Still liked it a lot though because of the overall atmosphere, story and music (Fairy Tale Afterglow is fantastic !)

This game is cute as heck. And as a fan of Spice and Wolf I am not adverse to wolves that turn into humans.

Something that personally stuck with me as I played through the game was personally leading the prince around. He never felt like an abstract gameplay element to me. Directly leading him around via the wholesome act of holding hands really helped me grow attached to him, the princess, and their quest to reach the witch deep within the forest. Excellent review, and I hope your video helps this game reach more people!

I’ve been wanting this since I saw the teaser however long ago. It’s disappointing to hear that the gameplay doesn’t keep up with the quality of the story, but I might still be getting it, at least once I have more disposable income.

Have you ever played any of the Klonoa games? I'm interested in hearing your thoughts about it (especially Door to Phantomile and Lunatea's Veil). They're some of my favorite games because of its charming dream aesthetic and its simple yet fun gameplay. I'd recommend it :)

I really loved this game. Saw the trailers and weeks later, I had a very bad break up. I saw the special edition with the book at a store and bought it at a whim. It was very beautiful to look at, with a really lovely soundtrack, and although it's not very hard or super challenging, it was very relaxing and was one of the games that helped me feel better. I do wish the game was a bit longer, too, and I really loved how the prince is a helper as well. I'm glad the game gets more coverage! And glad you had a good time, too, playing through it

So who thought of the game Dokuro on the PS Vita? I mainly thought because of the Tim Burton fairytale style. Also because Dokuro had a Puzzle motif to Liar Princess

I just kinda wish you didn't spoil the entire beginning of the game... You could totally guess most of it just from the trailer, but still.....

You should play Death End Re; Quest. It's the first game in a long time that I actually don't know what's going to happen. I'm sure you can agree when I say most games/stories are predictable these days lol so it's a breath of fresh air (hopefully it the story stays good, I haven't beaten it). That being said it does have the typical Idea Factory combat (combat like Neptunia, Fairy Fencer, etc) breaking up the graphic novel type story - so if you're not into that then it's probably not a game for you.

Great review! I just finished the game and I agreed with your review. This game was definitely frustrating to play during some sections, but overall I loved it so much. I just adored the prince and the princess and the ending brought me to tears. These characters are so cute and charming!

As always review is well edited and written especially that soothing mumbling voice of yours but the game looks adorably amusing like one of those fairytale children books that your parents used to read for u to put u to sleep or even just u reading the and visuals are truly cute and stunning like u said but I’m glad it was released for the Nintendo switch too portability and cuteness love the OST already yeah already Bought it can’t wait to play it!! I personally think this game's varied level/puzzle design is what makes it fun. If everything stayed uninventive, few new elements introduced, then the charming story and aesthetic wouldn't be enough for me to call it a good game. Even with mediocre controls and some other unpolished aspects, varied level/puzzle design can keep a game interesting. In any case, thanks for letting more people know about this cute game.

You ever play child of light?? At first glance it looks similar.

I didnt like the artstyle. The levels. Its to familiar and made before. Also the title must be the longest and worst. Music is good.

Which system did you play it on? I'm curious about the game but don't know which system to try it for.

I enjoyed the story and art style as much as anyone, but honestly the platform/combat(?) was so basic that I was struggling to not fall asleep while trying to get to the next story bit.

ty for the review, what a bummer that they gameplay is not "good" and just ok :s was really excited when i saw the first trailer for this game, the second trailer that included some of the gameplay made me worry looking at the wolf attacking enemies. Be picking the game for the switch later to have a bed time story while laying down

ahh crap I wanna play it so bad, but I'm afraid to buy a switch now since it is rumored that Nintendo will release the new version of Switch this year, most probably before the release of the new Pokemon on November :/

In my opinion the writing isn't that amazing. It tries to emulate the cute storybook format but it doesn't quite come together correctly. The art is very good though.
