I thought in would never open at one stage but The Libertines, yet again, have exceeded my expectations. When I saw Pete running through the place with his lovely but extremely “energetic” huskies, I did fear the worst. Never underestimate this band.
Been following Libertines and then babyshambles for 15 or more years so cool I love it congregating Pete on eating all that breakfast omg love your music love all you
I just want tp say one more thing, i have just started listening to The Libertines and I am very impressed by your lyrics and melodies. I actually think you are very clever. All of you and I wish you all the contentment in the world. Thank you. 😊 i will download your music and introduce it to my teenagers.
Carl’s a cool dude! Him and Pete wrote some great songs and if they’d held it together and didn’t get scared (mainly Pete) they could of been as big as Oasis but suppose it’s cool being a cult band.
Nah, they don't play stadium rock, they would never have been as big as Oasis. They made three albums, they would of made it that big by now if they were going to. Not saying they aren't a fantastic band though.
I assume you mean the Rowntree room. ;) But none of them are depressing. This room (William Blake) looks a bit depressing if you only see the wall behind them, but their view towards the French windows, the balcony and the sea is actually lovely. And Emily Dickinson would make a good room for a wedding night, or a proposal, or a weekend with your other woman.
Feel like it began with Pete wanting it to be a bohemian artist's society-pseudo crack den with a business plan attached, but then "the Covid thing" arrived and the shit hit the fan. Carl stepped in and necessarily commodified it a bit more with botanical brewdog 'Pete's piss' ales and the like. I wanted to see the room where you can spunk out art sculptures and the computer room for bangin out flash fiction but there aint one. Instead its a very well designed and 'matured' hotel. Just hope it does ok on the wonga side of things cos Margate has historically been a death knell for optimism, although that would be quite in keeping with The Libertines so perhaps its a match made in heaven. From Dreamland to an retirement home for early noughties rock stars where the ghosts of writers and painters from yesteryear happily haunt the corridors.
